Jessica Simpson Travels To Japan To Find ‘The Price Of Beauty’
And brings her gay boyfriend along for the ride

Jessica Simpson, freshly dumped newly single, packed up her bags, her BFFs and her kimono (apparently) and made her way to Tokyo, Japan recently to begin filming her new VH1 reality TV series The Price of Beauty. Here are a few photos of Jessica and her always loyal gay boyfriend and hair stylist Ken Paves dressed as geishas (well, in Ken‘s case gay-shas) on the street set of The Price of Beauty in Japan last week:

When relationships end, it’s not uncommon for heartbroken lovers to decide they need a makeover. But Jessica Simpson has really pushed the boundaries with her new look. The blonde-haired singer spent four hours being transformed into a Japanese geisha with a mask of white make-up, elaborate pinned hair and authentic kimono. Jessica is newly single after being dumped by her American Football player boyfriend Tony Romo. After the unexpected end to her relationship, on the eve of her birthday, the 29-year-old got away from it all with a trip to Japan. And a change of scene certainly seems to be helping the beauty move on. She couldn’t stop giggling as she and best friend Cacee Cobb and hairdresser Ken Paves explored the cobbled streets of the Asakusa district of Tokyo, in the shadow of Tokyo’s ancient Senso-ji Buddhist temple, founded in 628. Jessica slowly navigated her way along in four-inch wooden sandals and a floor-length silk kimono with an intricate purple and gold design. Kimonos like the one worn by Jessica can cost upwards of $10,000 and with accessories such as the decorative Obi belt the price can reach more than $20,000. During her trip to Japan, to film her new VH1 series The Price Of Beauty, Jessica was shaken by the impact of a magnitude 6.6 earthquake. ‘Thought I was hallucinating,’ she posted on Twitter on Monday. ‘I have never felt anything like this in my life. Laying in bed watching CNN.’

Oh Jess … the poor dear. Why is it that everything she does seem so sadly tragic? Even when she tries her hardest to succeed it only falls flat on its face. I have a gut feeling that this Price of Beauty show she’s working up for VH1 is going to be another one of her bombs, I can just tell.

    She never looked uglier.

  2. Mr. Gyllenhaal says:

LOL!!! She should stick to clothes…she is making a killing there!!

  3. Kaci says:

Jessica is such a pretty girl. But in this makeup, she looks a little drag queen-ish…

  4. Sarah says:

Lol @ Kaci, exactly what I was thinking!

  5. anne says:

bless her heart! but in all serious.. i want Ken Paves as my bestie so she has me there

  6. jessicagiovanna says:

i really want to root for her, but then she goes and does these things.. pffft.

  7. Janelle says:

    She’s tainted my country!

  8. SuziLee says:

Oh boy…I’m w/ya Trent. I don’t see this show going well at all. She’s like a walking tragedy…no man to stay w/her….no career anymore. Damn shame when it’s Ashlee now that’s the more successful one, in life & career. I know that’s harsh – but…i’m just sayin’…

  9. CoCo says:

Not to be too catty, but are her hooded eyelids getting a little TOO hooded? She should opt for that to be fixed next time she goes under the knife… instead of always just getting those awful lip injections. Her eyes are HALF the size they used to be from her eyelids! Maybe she is just tired???

  10. Kara says:

I’m not a huge fan of Jessica Simpson – but every time Trent posts about her most people comment on how she no longer has a career…um…hello! The girl sells boat loads of shoes, handbags, clothes, etc… she totally has a career! Unless of course no one is counting having a successful fashion line a career anymore. Just because she hasn’t had a ton of success in music and movies doesn’t mean she’s failing at life.

  11. In all fairness, I’d watch this if she is not involved. The concept is interesting.

  12. Cupcake says:

In all fairness who actually looks “good” in this make-up anyways? Leave her alone – TEAM JESSICA!

  13. interesting says:

Huh, now that i see her she looks a bit like Kristin Cavalleri. Both are following very similar path’s in their careers. Crawling back to reality tv now that nothing else worked out for them.

  14. la princesa says:

Oh, Trent, you knooooooow this is going to get a lot of viewers. She’s just been dumped, and everyone’s sympathetic to her now…so they’ll watch just for that…

  15. Josh C. says:

I can’t wait to watch the show. People fell in love with her on Newlyweds, I fell in love with her the first time I heard her sing in 99, and now this show will remind people why Jessica is such a great person. I’d love to hang out with Jess visiting the world!

  16. Shazz says:

She will always look repulsive to me.. but well.. this is a bit extreme, whoever did this to her, hates her big time.

  17. Laura says:

Jessica Simpson watches CNN? Yeah, Right.

  18. Lisa says:

I think this show looks interesting and I love that she’s trying different things – music, movies, fashion, reality TV… GO JESS!!! xoxo
