Last weekend we learned that Sarah Michelle Gellar, pregs with her first child with hubby Freddie Prinze, Jr., had her baby shower here in SoCal with a few friends and family. New photos published in the new issue of US Weekly magazine give us a little peek at the festivities that took place. The shower was held on August 1 at The Rise in Hollywood and was attended by SMG‘s celeb friends including fellow Buffyverse alum (and on-screen little sister) Michelle Trachtenberg and actresses Shannen Doherty, Kristin Chenoweth and Eva La Rue (who co-starred with SMG back during her All My Children days):
The shower revelers snacked on iced cupcakes from Sprinkles, got make-up tips and mini-make-overs from Napoleon Perdis and snapped funny photos in the on-site photobooth. Sounds like a fun party. As I said last weekend, by the time the shower rolls around you know it’s almost time for the mommy-to-be to blow. Hopefully we’ll be congratulating SMG and FPJ on the glorious arrival of their newborn child!

Love love love SMG and excited for her baby … but … is it just me or do her eyes look a bit wonky? Like how Jessica Simpsons used to look in pictures, making her look really weird. I hope its just a camera thing, b/c she’s so beautiful
Sarah & Shannen good friends since 1999. Sarah huge fan of Shannen movie “Heathers” so when she meet shannen at WB party, they tallk all night and become good friends…
P.S: Girls both have they own way in career and personal life, but they realy close friends.

I was wondering why Eva La Rue was there..I totally forgot they were both on All My Children! I was even addicted to the show at that time!

Yay- good news like this always makes me smile. I love SMG and it’s great to hear how wonderful she is doing.

From what I remember, Alyson found out about the cancellation of BtVS the same way everyone else did: SMG’s interview where she stated she was leaving Buffy, and the show would not be returning for an eighth season. Alyson was quite vocal with her displeasure in subsequent interviews about the rest of the cast being kept out of the loop on the decision to end the show. Add that to persistent rumors that SMG can be a diva, and I’m not surprised that Aly ended up as a no-show or not-invited to SMG’s baby shower.
Unless, of course, Aly totally was there and just didn’t get photographed.

@ Craig: god stop bitching about SMG. No one really knows what happened on set, so we can’t judge about them. Even Joss Whedon said that it was his fault the he didn’t announced it. But come on, watching season 7 (or shooting it), it was obvious that this was going to be the last season.
And abot SMG being a diva, there are dozens of her co-workers who said that she’s a very nice and friendly person.
Wow.. Love how Eva and Sarah are still in contact. Loved SMG as Kendall Hart.. Woot Woot. She was wicked..

Craig – That’s not how everyone found out, actually. And even if it were, it wasn’t Sarah’s job to inform everyone as she wasn’t everyone’s boss.
According to Joss (from his interview with CHUD.com):
csaQ : When in season 7 of Buffy did you know it was going to end ?
Whedon : Pretty much before season 7 began. Sarah and I had talked about – I had talked about 5 years for a long time and it became apparent that wasn’t going to happen.
There was a whole thing about it being in Entertainment Weekly and the crew wasn’t informed and everybody was unhappy, and I was just like, ‘There was somebody who didn’t know ?’ Some of the actors were upset and I said, ‘You guys I’ve talked to specifically about this.’ The crew I actually went and apologized to. I said, ‘I don’t know how this isn’t already public knowledge and I apologize if you guys felt the carpet pulled out from under you.’ But I kicked the actors off set before I did it because they knew.
To add to that: Basically, Alyson didn’t tell the truth and all the blame went to Sarah because of it. It was a passive aggressive and unprofessional comment. One of the things I love about SMG is that she’s always the consummate professional; she never talks crap about costars if she doesn’t get along with someone. She won’t even say bad things about Susan Lucci for goodness sakes and they definitely didn’t like each other.
