David Beckham joined the English football team in a friendly match against the Netherlands team in Amsterdam yesterday (the teams tied at 2-2) but the talk of the day, as usual, was on his desire/need to get out of his commitment to the LA Galaxy here in the US to play for a European team (preferably, AC Milan). Despite Becks‘s continued public claims that he is committed to playing for the Galaxy (for now), his national coach Fabio Capello has made perfectly clear that he must move back to Europe if he wants to be considered for next year’s World Cup finals in South Africa. Becks continues to say that he has not yet made a decision on what he’ll do when he finishes his stint with the Galaxy but Capello has issued the ultimatum that he must be playing on a European team by December if he wants to play in the World Cup. Poor Becks. Here are a few pics of Becks at the Amsterdam game this week and some deets of his trubs:

David Beckham says he will wait to make a decision on whether he will return to Europe and claims his sole focus at present remains on helping LA Galaxy enjoy a productive end to the MLS season. England boss Fabio Capello is keen for the experienced midfielder to play as much competitive football as possible – most likely for a big European side – but Beckhamt claims he will put the issue to one side until the Galaxy’s current campaign comes to a close. “At the moment all I am concentrating on is the MLS,” he told Sky Sports News following England’s 2-2 draw with Holland on Wednesday. “When you are back with the England squad, of course you concentrate on that and what game is coming up, but I am going to concentrate on the rest of the MLS season with the Galaxy and then after that finishes, in a few months, I will make plans. But that is news that I already knew. “I’m 95-99 per cent certain that it will happen. It’s important that I concentrate on the season with the Galaxy, and when that’s over there will be a decision by myself and the club that I will be going to. But it’s important I concentrate over there first.”
David Beckham has all but ruled out a return to the English Premier League after insisting AC Milan are very much his first choice when he leaves LA Galaxy at the end of the Major League Soccer season. Beckham, who won his 113th cap for England during Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Holland in Amsterdam, has been told by his national coach Fabio Capello that he must move back to Europe if he wants to be considered for next year’s World Cup finals in South Africa. Capello’s comments led to speculation that Beckham could return to the Premier League for the first time since leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid in 2003, with Tottenham, Portsmouth and even Chelsea reported to be interested. But the midfielder, who paid out of his own pocket to subsidise a loan move to Milan last season, was unimpressed when asked if he could play in England again. “No. I mean I’m never going to stand here and say it will never happen but obviously I enjoyed my time at Milan and they have expressed that they want me to go back,” Beckham said after England’s draw. “You know AC Milan is one of the best clubs in the world.” The one thing Beckham is well aware of is that Capello has insisted he must be in Europe by Christmas if he wants to go to South Africa. “I read that a couple of days ago but it’s old news,” Beckham said. “I’ve always known that, everyone has known that and it’s been a fact for a long time now. It’s important I’m playing in a European league leading up to the World Cup. I’ll concentrate on the rest of the MLS season with the Galaxy and then after that’s finished in a few months I’ll make plans.” Beckham’s loyalty to England has gone down less well in the States where he was booed by Galaxy fans on his return to the MLS. But his recent performances on the field have helped the team to second in the table and a possible play-off place. “Things are going well,” Beckham added. “That’s why I want to concentrate on Galaxy now and finish the season on a high.” Things are also going well with England after they came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in the Amsterdam Arena.
HMMM … doesn’t it kinda sound like Becks wants it all, all at the same time. He wants his cake, he wants to eat his cake and he also wants an extra cake to keep and put aside so he can eat it when he’s finished eating his first cake. It seems to me that if Becks wants to end his career on a high note, he should make up his mind, commit to a team and see that commitment thru to the end. It seems silly that he’s pretty much all over the place, scrambling from team to team trying to remain relevant to any of them. His time is running out, he needs to focus … or his career may just piddle out and die. He’s still hot tho, at least he’s got that going for him.

I really don’t blame him for wanting to leave. Soccer is much bigger everywhere else but here.
Trent, playing for your country is a really important thing and no one can blame Beckham for doing what he can to play for England. He’s not getting any older he has to take the honour while he is still fit enough to play!
@Akes — I totally agree, my point is that homie needs to pick a team and STICK WITH IT.
No offence but you yanks know fuck all about football.
This is what happens in football, players move from team team, that’s the way it has always been, so deal with it.
@lyndyloo — Deal with what? I think I’m dealing just fine :)
plus a player has to play for his country regardless where in the world he’s playing.
get your facts right, sorry for sounding annoyed but I really am because Americans don’t seem to grasp this game.
@Trent I’m just sick of people being horrible to him, David is a good guy….he does not deserve all this crap.
I’m with Trent on this one.
He wants all those three cakes.
I think this man cares about money more than soccer..erm..football
Players will leave their clubs and play for their country, that’s fact. Landon and whatever other Galaxy members are picked for the US team will leave the Galaxy next summer during the middle of the MLS season to play for the world cup. The problem is that the MLS schedule is different from the rest of the world.
He’s not trying to have it all, playing for the National team is a must, and he needs to be in Europe to make it end of story.
if we yanks know nothing about football, and David knew this, why did he sign up for Galaxy?
Money,methinks.
Because the endorsement deals money isn’t enough ah Becks?
Trent you keep writing about this but yet you’re not looking into the rules of the sport. Are you saying that he shouldn’t do everything required to be selected for his National team? That makes zero sense if you know anything about the sport.
FIFA, the sport’s governing body has a rule that states when it comes to international duty Country comes before club. The World Cup is every four years and only the US has their league going on at the same time and it’s usually a wasteland. Should he remain in LA while all the top American players are away playing for their country?
@Buckley WRONG! players all around the world do this. Country before club everytime, no matter what club you play for, you have to make time to play for your country, if you knew anything about football you’d know this.
Ronaldo plays for portugal as well as any other club he’s signed to, if you are in a national squad, and most good players are, you have to make yourself available to your country, that’s the way it has always been, check your facts.
proof that Americans will never get this game.
No offence but that’s the truth.
like he’ll pass up the chance to play for his country over some lame ass american league :S
sorry yanks, but your football kind of sucks :O
trent once again proving you know NOTHING about football. if you are called up to play for your country you go and play for your country. proper football leagues all over the rest of the world take a brake from their league to accommodate an international week…..so that their best players dont miss any games. but the MLS is not a proper football league, and thats why their seasons run right through the summer months and right through international weeks…..and come next year it will run right through the world cup tournament!
@Lyndaloo
First I will be an adult and address you as one and will withhold the petty assumptions since I don’t know you.
My point is, yes I know they do this, but he transferred to a team that he knew was inferior, sportswise.
Most americans don’t care about this sport which is different than not getting it.
oh and nice ending with no offense after you basically called me ignorant.
peace
@ Buckley you are not getting the point I was trying to make, you and Trent don’t seem to grasp one of the most basic rules of FIFA which is the international governing body for football, that rule being that no matter what club you play for, if you are asked to play for your country that is what you should do. Trent seems to think that the England team is just another club. IT ISN’T!!!!! it is the national squad, which is far more important to any player than any club. I suggest you try and learn more about the rules of the game before you are allowd to diss Beckham.
David Beckham is a national hero, to me and to most England fans, he will always be an England squad legend, that’s what he’ll be remembered for.
@lyndyloo — I’m well aware of what playing for one’s home country means. My beef has always been that Becks signed a contract with the Galaxy and decided to ditch that contract to play for another team, as a result, he’s running all over the place trying to play for every team he can and not really succeeding for any of them.
I’ll diss whoever the fuck I please.
This is your national hero?
hahaha that explains a lot.
Go school someone else.
i bet you he will also be remembered by his girly voice and tendency to endorse just about anything for money.
@Trent yes but your beef in this particular post is the fact that he’s playing for his country, something that he has every right to do.
I am well aware that “soccer” as you lot like to call it, is not a very well known or popular sport in the States which is probably why you guys don’t seem to get the rules as well as we do, but before you start accusing Becks of going off to play for another team, I think you need to understand that all players are supposed to answer to their national teams during the world or European cup , that’s the way it has always been, if he refused to play for his country, can you imagine the abuse he’d be getting from England fans, and believe me those guys would make those LA Galaxy hardnuts seem like pussies in comparaison.
sorry for getting so heated up but football is our country’s natial sport, people would do anything to play for England , ANYTHING.
@lyndyloo — That is not my beef.
@Buckley also you have just proved the point Iwas trying to make.
YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT.
@Trent this is what you wrote.
He’s still hot tho, at least he’s got that going for him.
this post was related to him playing against Holland last night wasn’t it??????
If I missed your point then I’m sorry but I read it again and that’s what I understood from it.
Trent you know I have always agreed with you on most things because unlike other bloggers you are a decent guy, but I have to disagree with you on this.
@lyndyloo — My point is he needs to pick a team and stick with it.
@ lyndyloo
huh?
that statement makes no sense whatsoever.
I know what I am talking about since I am the one doing the talking.
The caps don’t really help in getting your point across
I see him one way, you another.
Simple.
I’m moving on, this is a classy website not worthy of petty fights.
@Buckley I am fully aware that this site is very classy thank you very much, I have been reading Trent’s blog for years and I have always loved and respected him and I’m sure he knows that.
case closed, now go troll someone else please. THANKS.(CAPS LOCKS JUST FOR YOU, JUST CALL ME KANYE)
