Don't expect to see Jamie Bamber, Katee Sackoff, Mary McDonald, or Edward James Olmos. The Battlestar project Singer was originally attached to was a continuation of the original series; when 9-11 happened Universal put it on hold (you know, the whole apocalypse theme and all). Singer moved on to other projects and Universal appointed Ron D. Moore to take over. Ron Moore rewrote the project into what we have seen in the new Series. Glenn Larson (the original creator) hated the new series and has been doing everything to get his version back, including working with Singer on the this movie. Rest assured this movie will not be cool or dramatic like the recent Battlestar. it will be a high camp Mormon history lesson like the original series was. He has done amazing smaller films, so he understands character development (Apt Pupil, Usual Suspects), but he also has made fantastic action movies (X Men II, Superman Returns). I think he will have the right balance to give it action and depth...with out it turning into Transformers or something. I think Bryan is a great director.
