Amy Winehouse Sucks, Regresses To Childhood?
The newly divorced and freshly acquitted Amy Winehouse was spotted making her way out of a nightclub in London, England last night looking very much out sorts and not well at all. Amy was snapped sucking on her thumb as she tried to make it thru the crush of onlookers on her way to her car. Something tells me that she is not really handling life back in the big city very well:
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse appeared to be reverting to childhood as she sucked her thumb on a rare night out in London since her quickie divorce. At 25, she’s two decades too old to partake in thumb-sucking. But given recent events, including closure on her failed marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil and her appearance in court for allegedly attacking a fan, Winehouse looked to be in need of comfort. Dressed casually in dark denim jeans and a navy blue tank top, and with her signature beehive, the singer huddled under an umbrella with the protective arms of her minders surrounding her. She then gingerly crawled into the back of a waiting car with friend Tyler James, a lesser-known English singer. The pair had been drinking at favourite local haunt the Good Mixer pub in Camden, and left at a respectable time of 8pm … The Back To Black star has been looking a lot healthier since her eight-month stay on the island of St Lucia. Her once scabby and red skin has been replaced by a clearer complexion and even the odd freckle. But she is still clearly emotional, and seems to suck her thumb when times are bad.
Yikes! Amy Winehouse is but a shell of a person … the poor woman looks absolutely wrecked. I realize that she had to return to London from her isle paradise on St. Lucia to take care of her biz (ie. the divorce and her assault charge) but I think it’s high time she pack up her stuff and get back to the island as quickly as possible. The crazy London lifestyle seems to be too much for Amy to handle. She may still be a bit of a trainwreck in St. Lucia but at least she looks happier there. Sucking one’s thumb in public like this is not a good sign that she is doing well in London at all :(

Why are people fixated on her “odd freckle”??? I don’t see how it’s odd to get a freckle when you’re pale and you’ve been out in the sun for months.

I used to suck my thumb until 14. My Dad always said he was going to have to walk me down the isle sucking my thumb.
Thank god I stopped- I could have ended up like Amy. ;) (Joke thumb suckers, joke!!)

Goodness, poor Amy, Mischa…even Britney can’t catch a break these days for single acts in public! At least she’s sucking on her thumb and not a bag of coke, lol.

If you look closely I don’t think she’s sucking her thumb. I think she just has her hand over her mouth.

I must say she has been known for sucking her thumb in other web sites with pictures to prove it! I do tend to think its a little odd at her age but shes not alone there are others out there. She looks really funny climbing into that car,kinda looks like shes climbing a high moutain! Its just funny :) I wish this poor girl the best of luck with her life.

“Odd” used in that sense doesn’t mean weird, or strange. In this case it’s more along the lines of someone talking about a party and saying there were “twenty-odd people there”. Hopefully that makes sense.
Anyway, my bf is 27 and he still sucks his thumb sometimes, and it’s not because he’s distressed. Although she does look it in that picture.

No, she’s definately sucking her thumb. Her pointer is placed over her nose and her thumb is in her mouth….classic thumb-sucking positions.

Sucking your thumb, once you’ve gotten re-used to it (unless you haven’t ever stopped), is VERY comforting. There are many adults who do this, though secretly, so that’s why some think it “odd”. Hey, it’s legal, convenient, useful, doesn’t interfer with others and more. Don’t knock it until you’ve been doing it a month or more.
