I’ve been working my way through Lovely Bones for months. I keep having to put it away because it really affects my mood. It is a very well written book, it just breaks my heart.

My mommy gave me that book when I started high school. I adored it! I lent it to someone, and never got it back, I should buy a new one. You’ll love it. It made me kinda sad still. Can’t wait for the movie!!

T keep us updated on where you are in the book so all of us who read it a while back and relive it with! What a great book. My philosophy or psychology teacher in college recommended this back in 2004/2005. Eeesh I remember it being heavy. Enjoy.

I’ve just started to read it too. Such an interesting book, kind of a crime novel in reverse. I think I’ve finally managed to stop crying everytime I go to read it now. Haha

I LOVED this book. I actually only read it a week or two ago and I found out after it was becoming a movie, I’m so excited. I saw the trailer though and I’m not sure it looks like it adapts well into a movie.

@TL; The Reader is an amazing book. I liked the movie but the book was really good. If you’ve seen it you’ll sympathize a lot more with Hana in the book I think.

I cried from the beginning, the middle and the end. Such a powerful story but i am leery of seeing it on the big screen – that first chapter was rough to get through and i am not sure i can sit through it visually.

I’m with j, I did not like The Lovely Bones at all. I hated how jumpy it was. I don’t want to give anything away for anyone who hasn’t read it yet, but yeah I found that very annoying. The story itself was kind of bland for me.

the book is good, but its set in philly near where i live and it really freaks me out when it talks about the murderer going to all the places where i hang out etc…

I highly recommend reading Sebold’s memoir, Lucky. It was an incredible (in the worst sense of the word) story and I think reveals how she was able to devise something like The Lovely Bones.

Hi Trent! I have to say, the trailer looks a lot better than the book I read. It was the last of the Oprah book club books that I read as they always made me so depressed! My best advice is to read the book and then view the trailer. The trailer shows too much and may ruin it for you!

Thanks for inspiring me to re-read The Lovely Bones before the movie comes out! It was such a good read the first time around. I grew up not far from where the book takes place!

An amazing book I have read many times. Just saw the trailer for the movie. I wish Ryan Gossling was still playing the part of the father but I am excited to see it either way. Enjoy the story.

yeah i teared up a bit while reading the lovely bones i’m…. interested to see how they do the movie but hope they don’t ruin it. my book recommendation is neal stephenson’s snow crash. it’s a fun and interesting read esp after the heaviness of the lovely bones.

The Lovely Bones is one of the best books i have ever read and is one you will NEVER forget.
