Welp, it looks like her negotiations with the ABC network didn’t go exactly as she had hoped because word on the street today is that Paula Abdul may be ready to go back to American Idol, hat in hand, and work out a deal so that she can get her old job on the show back. As y’all are well aware, auditions for the new season of AI have already gotten underway in Denver, CO and Boston, MA WITHOUT Paula‘s presence because she announced on her official Twitter profile that she was leaving the show. Her plan, it seems, was to nab a new more high-paying job at ABC on either Dancing with the Stars and/or Ugly Betty. It turns out that neither of those two project worked out for her and now she’s got no prospects to pin her hopes on … which means, she may have to go back to AI and pretty much take whatever deal they are willing to give her:

Sources connected to Paula Abdul say Miss Paula wants back on “American Idol.” Our sources say Paula’s Twitter is retracted — at least in her mind – if the price is right. As we first reported, the magic number is $10 million. Will Paula move from that number? The way negotiations go in Hollywood … probably, but we don’t know for sure and if so how much she’s willing to give. We’re also told Paula’s meetings with ABC didn’t really go anywhere. She doesn’t want to do “Dancing with the Stars” — we’re told, in no small part, because she wants to be able to jump on a plane on a moment’s notice to rejoin her fellow judges on “Idol.” And, we’re told, Paula is piiiised at the producers of “Ugly Betty” for leaking the story that she was talking to them about doing the show. She’s not going to do it now. As for “Idol,” as far as we know they’ve been pretty hard-nosed and haven’t contacted her reps, but we’re not positive. In the end, we’re thinking “A.I.” isn’t gonna let a little Twitter torpedo one of its golden geese.

While I don’t believe these negotiations with American Idol are actually a PR stunt, I never really believed that Paula would not be back on American Idol when it returns to live TV next January. My guess is that she prolly felt that AI would do anything to keep her and when she overplayed her hand, they let her go. In order to save face, she attempted to get a new job (or jobs) at ABC and now that that didn’t work out according to plan she’s only got one recourse left — American Idol. I agree with TMZ, I don’t think FOX is gonna let her tweet about leaving the show end their relationship with Paula. They’re gonna work out a deal (prolly not to Paula‘s exact satisfaction), kiss, make-up and get back to work. Each party needs the other … I’m pretty confident they’ll work it all out in the end.

Despite a new report that surfaced over the weekend that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens had gotten engaged to be wed, pretty much everyone BUT the publication that published the rumored engagement are refuting the claim. Besides, there is more important Zac Efron news to impart today … in the form of these new shirtless photos of Zacy on the Vancouver, BC set of his new film Charlie St. Cloud which has been filming for the past few weeks:

Lawd, his new haircut makes him look about 10 years younger … clearly not of marrying age. I have to admit, I have no idea what this Charlie St. Cloud movie is all about but methinks that a shirtless Efron movie will bring all the girls to the yard, no matter what the subject matter. Let’s just hope the film does better at the box office than his gf Vanessa Hudgen‘s new film Bandslam did this weekend … it was a total box office FL5OP (the 5 is silent).

Homegirl was lookin’ like an around the way girl circa 1986 … are Jheri curls makin’ a comeback? Cuz … I OBJECT PROFUSELY!!

Having been born in 1981, Beyonce Knowles doesn’t remember much of the eighties. So perhaps she was unaware just how dismal the wet look hairstyle was first time round. Spotted lunching with husband Jay-Z in New York City yesterday, the normally immaculate-looking singer’s trendy outfit was let down by her bad hair day. The Halo singer was bang on trend in a cute polka dot playsuit with Chanel belt and patent peep-toe heels as she ate at Bar Pitti in the West Village. But the 27-year-old’s overall look was spoiled by her unflattering hairstyle, a far cry from her usual glossy golden locks. Beyonce is currently spending rare quality time with her husband during a break in her gruelling I Am… world tour. She was left shaken when a 6.6 earthquake hit Japan last week … After performing in Japan last week, Beyonce has been hanging out in New York, where the couple share a home. She is set to resume the tour in the Ukraine on August 29, before finally wrapping her concerts in Belfast on November 24. During her few weeks off in New York, the singer has reportedly been expanding her dance repertoire by studying ballet. Students at Manhattan’s Ailey School claim Beyonce attended an open ballet class last week. A ballet student said: ‘She came in like a regular student. No entourage and no attitude.’

Of all looks for her to borrow from did she have to delve into the Rick James repertoire? I mean, believe me, I love me some Beyoncé but this is not a good look for her … at all! I suppose we can cut her some slack considering the scary ordeal she endured in Japan … perhaps that earthquake shook her up somethin’ awful. I just hope this new Jheri curl look isn’t a permanent one. Ick!

Yesterday we saw a bunch of really hawt and amazing photos of our dear Britney Spears rockin’ a hot pink 2-piece bikini at The Ritz Carleton Hotel in Marina Del Rey, CA which were snapped on Saturday afternoon and today we get to see a few more pics from that very same pool which were snapped on Sunday afternoon. It would appear that Brit Brit moved into the Ritz for the weekend cuz she was joined by her young sons Sean Preston and Jayden James for a day of fun at the pool with their moms. To be honest, I almost didn’t recognize her boys because they got their hair all buzzed off! Look at how cute they look:

What a freakin’ adorable family!! To be honest, I didn’t mind that the boys had longer hair before but seeing them with these cute little buzz cuts ain’t so bad either. Jayden James still looks like her little baby all wrapped up in swaddling towel and with binky firmly in mouth. The kids have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks. I presume they’ll be going back on tour with their mom as she kicks off the second North American leg of her tour The Circus starring Britney Spears in Hamilton, Ontario this coming Thursday night and then, of course, they have their birthdays coming up. Sooooo cute!!
