Kristen Stewart Does ‘Dazed & Confused’ Magazine

Kristen Stewart, who spent part of her weekend canoodling with her Twilight co-star and RUMORED paramour Robert Pattinson at a Kings of Leon concert in Vancouver, BC, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Dazed & Confused magazine … and, wouldn’t ya know it, she is lookin’ both dazed AND confused in her magazine coverphoto:

Dazed & Confused September Spectacular! Collections Special – with Kristen Stewart, The Big Pink, Dennis Hopper, and 70+ pages of fashion! On sale Thurs August 20

On the cover of September’s Dazed & Confused is the stunning 19-year-old actress Kristen Stewart, star of the global phenomenon that is the ‘Twilight’ vampire saga, and [this Summer's] ‘Adventureland’, directed by Greg ‘Superbad’ Mottola. Strikingly shot by David Sherry and styled by Dazed fashion editor Katie Shillingford, today’s hottest teen icon takes a break from playing Joan Jett in the forthcoming film of her life to talk rock’n'roll, rumours, and waging war on the paparazzi. In an exploration of the “Modern Archive”, Dazed also ransacks every vault, cellar and attic to present lost classics and forgotten gems – from amazing unseen 60s photography by Dennis Hopper, to forgotten films by the Velvet Underground, and Stanley Kubrick’s movie masterpiece that never was. The highlights of this season’s fashion collections are also presented with an archival twist, with contributors across the 70 pages including Terry Tsiolis, William Selden, Matt Irwin and Paulo Sutch. Dazed also spent a few hazy days in New York with The Big Pink, Britain’s most exciting new band, as they played their first US gig and hung out in the studio as they finished their keenly-awaited debut album for cult label 4AD. Photography by Jason Nocito. Also in this month’s issue, Matthew Stone documents Sweden’s internet anarchists The Pirate Bay as they invade the Venice Biennale; Peter Pilotto talk in depth about their latest collection; veteran director Francis Ford Coppola talks about returning to the screen; Nick Cave makes excuses for taking 20 years to write another novel; Major Lazer throw together the definitive autotune mixtape; and the legendary Grace Coddington remembers how she redefined fashion as we know it. Dazed & Confused September issue is on sale Thursday August 20

OY. Is she supposed to look cracked out in order to make the cover of this mag or … is that just a bonus? Anyone?

"The play's the thing"
Jude Law’s ‘Hamlet’ Prepares To Invade Broadway

Something may be rotten in the state of Denmark but no so in the State of New York … this weekend, promo signage went up at the Broadhurst Theater on the Great White Way to announce the arrival of the West End production of the William Shakespeare play Hamlet starring Jude Law:

The production’s official website, HamletBroadway.com, is now online and tickets for the limited run are currently on sale. It turns out that I will be in NYC when the show is in previews so I managed to snag a ticket for the performance on September 16. Last year, David and I were lucky enough to attend a performance of Shakespeare‘s MacBeth at the Lyceum Theater and I loved every second of it. As a huge Shakespeare fan, I’m always curious to see how new productions of the Bard‘s timeless plays get adapted. I’ve been dying to see Jude as Hamlet and next month I’ll finally get my chance. As you may recall, Jude got himself into a bit of trubs the last time he spent any considerable time in NYC when he got Samantha Burke pregs with his lovechild while he was filming Sherlock Holmes there. One hopes Jude will be better equipped to keep himself in control so that he doesn’t get mixed up in any future unplanned pregnancies. Lovebabies or not, I am SO excited to see Jude in action on stage! Woot!!

... after he robbed the Michelin Man for his outfit
Adam Lambert Poses For His Album Photoshoot

Towleroad gives us our first look at Adam Lambert on the set of a photoshoot reportedly for his debut album. Wearing an outfit that leaves much to be desired, Glambert clearly pulled out all the stops to ensure that the artwork for his new album is überfabulous … behold:

Some set photos allegedly from the cover shoot for Adam Lambert’s album have leaked, including this one in which Lambert appears to be wearing a glittery Hefty bag and sporting a hair-do that takes its cues from Bob’s Big Boy. The cover is reportedly being shot by Warwick Saint and other elements of the shoot included Swarovski crystal eye pieces, lots of leather and spikes.

I dunno, y’all. I’m all for expressive fashion sense but I’m starting to think that Lambert might be going too far. Yes, he performed with KISS fairly successfully on the finale of American Idol but that doesn’t mean he has to start dressing like them to beat the moment into a bloody pulp. After all, let’s not forget that he lost the competition. As far as AI contestants go, I think he’s pretty talented … I’d hate for him to overplay his gimmick and then lose his shot at superstardom because he focused too much on the look rather than the sound. I’m afraid photoshoots like this might ensure that he become a laughable caricature rather than a serious musician.

VMA performances will take place all over Manhattan
The 2009 MTV VMAs Release A Batch Of Promo Photos

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards invade NYC LIVE on September 13 and the network is working overtime to prep the really big show. Already the first groups of performers and presenters have been announced and it sounds like it’s going to be another great show. Here is a batch of new promo pics of folks who will be a part of the MTV VMAs this year:

It was already shaping up to be a pretty huge night, but now, the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards have gotten even bigger. Or at least grittier and glammier. That’s because Jay-Z and Lady Gaga have been booked to perform at the VMAs, joining an already impressive list that includes Taylor Swift, Green Day, Pink and Muse. Jay — whose gnarly “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” is up for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Male Video — will perform a song from his hotly anticipated The Blueprint 3 album, due September 11. The glittery Gaga — who, along with Beyoncé, leads everyone with nine VMA nods — will perform a single from her breakthrough The Fame album. “I’m simply gutted to be both a performer and nominee at the 2009 VMAs,” Gaga said. “In fact, I’m so happy, I could die.” In addition to the performers, there are some big-name presenters to add to the show too. Nelly Furtado, Miranda Cosgrove and “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester — who is up for Best Pop Video and Best Direction for Cobra Starship’s “Good Girls Go Bad” — will be on hand to, well, hand out the awards. They join Katy Perry, Ne-Yo and Chace Crawford, who have already been announced as VMA presenters. But who will they be presenting the awards to? Well, that’s up to you. Voting for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards is under way over at VMA.MTV.com. Verizon Wireless subscribers can also vote by texting VMA to 97979. The VMAs will broadcast live from New York on September 13 at 9 p.m. Russell Brand will once again serve as host for the evening. Trust us: It’s going to be a night you just can’t miss.

I can’t help it, I’m a sucker for the VMAs — always have been, always will. I can’t help but look forward to the show each year. Because the show is gonna be back in NYC this year, well, you know they’re gonna turn the mother out. I’m really hoping and crossing my fingers (and toes) that they’re gonna bring out our dear Britney Spears for a surprise performance. Last year was her year to look beautiful and collect her trophies … this year is her year to sing for her supper (as it were). Whether she performs or not, I’m pretty sure that secret will be hush-hush until the day of the show (or very close to). I can’t wait to find out, hopefully in person :)

Unnecessary Roughness
David Beckham Gets Ejected From An LA Galaxy Game

David Beckham, who has been doing his best to spend time with his children here in SoCal after being away for so long this year due to his commitments to soccer teams around the world, spent some time with the kids and his wife Victoria Beckham in Malibu, CA yesterday … one day after he was ejected from an LA Galaxy game vs. the Seattle Sounders in Seattle, WA on Saturday night. Becks was, once again, booed by the fans in the stadium during the match which may have thrown off his game cuz he was slapped with a red card that forced his ejection from the game and a suspension from the next Galaxy game on the schedule:

David Beckham was ejected for a studs-up challenge in the 17th minute, and the Los Angeles Galaxy finished with nine men in a 2-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday night. Beckham slid into Sounders midfielder Peter Vagenas trying to reach a ball, hooking his right ankle and bringing the former Galaxy midfielder down to the pitch. Referee Ricardo Salazar immediately issued the red card, and Beckham did not offer much of an argument before leaving the field. “Pete’s one of my best friends,” he said after the game. “I’ve never gone into one tackle wanting to hurt someone. It was a hard tackle but by no means a red card.” It was Beckham’s first red card in his MLS career and his second ejection in the MLS. The red card carries an automatic suspension that will force Beckham to miss Los Angeles’ match at Chicago on Wednesday night. “With the way he came in hard, I could see how the referee would determine it likely was a dangerous tackle,” Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said. “When you throw yourself into that kind of tackle, there’s a chance you’re going to get sent off.” Seattle (8-5-8), which snapped a three-match winless streak, needed only five minutes to convert following Beckham’s exit. Steve Zakuani scored in the 22nd minute on a 5-yard shot off Brad Evans’ cross from the right side of the penalty area, ending a 336-minute scoreless streak for the Sounders. Evans began the play by intercepting Galaxy defender Gregg Berhalter’s header and dribbling unmarked down the flank. Fredy Montero added his 10th goal in the 54th minute. Nate Jaqua headed Vagenas’ corner kick to Montero, who fired a 6-yard shot into the upper-right corner of the net. Sounders FC finished with 10 men after Tyrone Marshall received his second yellow card in the 78th minute. Salazar then ejected Los Angeles’ Eddie Lewis on a straight red card in the same minute, leaving the Galaxy with nine players.

Dang Becks, is US soccer proving too difficult for you? You need to settle down and relax, Holmes. I would hope you can keep your head in the game long enough to play some decent soccer. Perhaps the game suspension will give you the time you need to get your head back in the game, hmmm? Becks‘s Sunday looked a lot less stressful than his Saturday was. After the jump, check out photos of Becks and the fam enjoying a day of fun on the Malibu, CA coast …

The TV Guide
‘Summer’ Lovin’

Most of my afternoon was spent in the company of my dear friend Jordan … we spent all afternoon shopping up and down Melrose. We both found amazing stuff and had an absolute blast together. I love shopping with Jordan, he is the best enabler ever:

Last night I finally got to see what all the buzz for (500) Days of Summer is all about. I don’t think I heard one bad thing about this movie since it was released in theaters a few weeks ago (save for a comment by my dear friend Josh who tends to be overly critical at times). David and I met up with Kirsten, Darion and his friends Sebastian and Angelina for a showing of Summer at the AMC Theater in Century City:

I totally loved this movie … charming, sweet and pretty realistic — storywise. If I have any complaint it’s how overly styled everything in the film was. The apartment decor, the clothes, the accessories … it was a bit too much for me to totally buy into but as far as negatives go, that’s about it. The acting performances by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschenel were really spectacular. Of the two, I think I preferred JGL‘s realistic performance … I totally bought every single emotion he put on the screen. I got very distracted by Zooey‘s HUGE EYES but, I believe, that is her appeal. The music in the film is SUPERB! Great, great soundtrack. And, to be honest, I had no idea the movie was even set in LA until LA was mentioned about halfway thru the film. This notion of quaint record stores and coffee shops and taxi cabs and subways is the most un-LA stuff ever. Even if the who thing seemed a wee bit contrived, it is really a great film to get lost in. It’s not a love story, it’s a real story.

I called it an early night after the movie … but tonight, woo, I’m so excited. Josh and I are going to the Hollywood Bowl to see Depeche Mode in concert! I got the tix at the last minute and I am SOOO amped!! I hope to have photos to share tomorrow :)

Madonna Celebrates Her 51st Birthday With *All* Her Children

Madonna, who turned 51 years old yesterday, spent much of her weekend in celebration of her big day. On Saturday night in Warsaw, Poland, the crowd serenaded her with an impromptu verse of Happy Birthday midway thru her show. Yesterday, on her actual birthday, Maddy gathered up her children — Lourdes Maria (not pictured), Chifundo Mercy James, David Banda and Jesus Luz — for an early morning boat ride together:

Fresh from her concert in Poland, Madonna jetted to Italy for a romantic reunion with toyboy boyfriend Jesus Luz for her 51st birthday yesterday. After performing in Warsaw on Saturday night, Madonna flew to the luxury resort of Portofino where the Brazilian model was waiting for her with her four children. Enjoying a two-day break before her concert in Munich on Tuesday, Madonna chose to celebrate her big day with an intimate family party. The Material Girl is reported to have booked an entire floor at the five-star, 1,000 Euros-a-night Hotel Splendido, which has stunning views of the Mediterranean. The 51-year-old singer was spotted having a romantic birthday breakfast for two with Jesus on the balcony of her hotel suite on Sunday morning. Later that day, Madonna, Jesus and the children were seen getting a boat out to a yacht, believed to be owned by her designer friends Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The designers hosted a birthday meal for the singer, during which she was presented with a big cake with sparklers on top and wore a lace dress by the duo. Throughout the meal, Madonna was seen kissing and nuzzling up to 22-year-old Jesus.

Oh yes, there was a lot of canoodling going on betwixt Madonna & Child yesterday day and night. After the jump, check out photos from the happy couple’s birthday breakfast AND intimate birthday dinner party with friends …

Alyson Hannigan Got Back

Alyson Hannigan and her hubby Alexis Denisof ventured out this weekend for one of their semi-regular walks with their babygirl Satyana here in SoCal and Aly was showin’ off some mighty fine junk in the trunk! Check out Aly‘s nice assets in these cute little cut-off jean shorts:

It looks like Mrs. Thang is gettin’ her groove back. She recently posted a tweet on her official Twitter profile that Alexis has begun filming new scenes for his upcoming stint on Dollhouse (which we heard about a few weeks ago) but it looks like she’s been keepin’ bizzy, as well, workin’ on her fitness. She also confirmed that she recently started reporting for duty on the set of How I Met Your Mother last week … clearly, she’s back in shape and ready to go! Hawt!!

And brings her gay boyfriend along for the ride
Jessica Simpson Travels To Japan To Find ‘The Price Of Beauty’

Jessica Simpson, freshly dumped newly single, packed up her bags, her BFFs and her kimono (apparently) and made her way to Tokyo, Japan recently to begin filming her new VH1 reality TV series The Price of Beauty. Here are a few photos of Jessica and her always loyal gay boyfriend and hair stylist Ken Paves dressed as geishas (well, in Ken‘s case gay-shas) on the street set of The Price of Beauty in Japan last week:

When relationships end, it’s not uncommon for heartbroken lovers to decide they need a makeover. But Jessica Simpson has really pushed the boundaries with her new look. The blonde-haired singer spent four hours being transformed into a Japanese geisha with a mask of white make-up, elaborate pinned hair and authentic kimono. Jessica is newly single after being dumped by her American Football player boyfriend Tony Romo. After the unexpected end to her relationship, on the eve of her birthday, the 29-year-old got away from it all with a trip to Japan. And a change of scene certainly seems to be helping the beauty move on. She couldn’t stop giggling as she and best friend Cacee Cobb and hairdresser Ken Paves explored the cobbled streets of the Asakusa district of Tokyo, in the shadow of Tokyo’s ancient Senso-ji Buddhist temple, founded in 628. Jessica slowly navigated her way along in four-inch wooden sandals and a floor-length silk kimono with an intricate purple and gold design. Kimonos like the one worn by Jessica can cost upwards of $10,000 and with accessories such as the decorative Obi belt the price can reach more than $20,000. During her trip to Japan, to film her new VH1 series The Price Of Beauty, Jessica was shaken by the impact of a magnitude 6.6 earthquake. ‘Thought I was hallucinating,’ she posted on Twitter on Monday. ‘I have never felt anything like this in my life. Laying in bed watching CNN.’

Oh Jess … the poor dear. Why is it that everything she does seem so sadly tragic? Even when she tries her hardest to succeed it only falls flat on its face. I have a gut feeling that this Price of Beauty show she’s working up for VH1 is going to be another one of her bombs, I can just tell.
