Tori Amos Brings Her ‘Sinful Attraction’ Tour To San Diego

Yesterday afternoon, my BFF Sarah and I hit the open road and made our way from LA down the coast to San Diego, CA to see Tori Amos live in concert. For the past 14 years, Sarah and I have made our way to many, many Tori Amos concerts all over the country but this was our first Tori show in SD. On our way down, we stopped for a seaside photo opp and then made time for dinner at Chick-Fil-A before arriving at Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay for Tori Amos’s Sinful Attraction Tour:

We had a fun drive down but we were anxious to get to the venue so that we could enjoy our latest Tori Amos concert (our first of 3 from this new tour). So as not to spoil the show for those of you who have yet to see Tori on tour this time around, I’ll keep my photos and the setlist from last night’s show behind the cut. For those of you inclined, you can read my review of the show after the jump …

Right off the bat, I was very upset to discover that there was a no camera policy in effect at the venue. It’s insane to me that in this day and age, cameras are not allowed at some concert venues. But, people smuggled their cameras in anyways … I made do with my mobile phone. I was put off by the small size of the venue … it was basically the size of someone’s backyard. All the seats were folding chairs and the stage was right next to the bay. It felt like we were at a wedding. As the sun set and the stars came out, tho, the setting became magical. Humphrey’s has to be THE smallest venue I’ve ever seen Tori Amos perform at. Here are some of the mobile phone pics I managed to snap last night and the full setlist:

Give
Beauty Of Speed
Graveyard
Cornflake Girl
Flavor
Martha’s Foolish Ginger
Jamaica Inn
Siren
Little Earthquakes
Carbon

The Lizard Lounge Solo Set

Circle Game (Joni Mitchell cover)
Cloud On My Tongue

Band Returns

1000 Oceans
Marys Of The Sea
Fast Horse
Past The Mission
Precious Things
Strong Black Vine

Encore

Police Me
Big Wheel
Caught A Lite Sneeze

Because of the setting there was deffo a water theme to the setlist. Tori sounded divine, it was a really special show. She dedicated Circle Game to her late brother Michael explaining that he used to ask her to sing his favorite songs … and then she sang it for him. Also, Tori performed Precious Things and Caught A Lite Sneeze which make reference to Nine Inch Nails and also performed Past the Mission, which in studio version features Trent Reznor on back-up vocals … there was also a NIN theme to the setlist as well :) The show was amazing!!!

I was very fortunate to be able to meet Pink readers Travis and Abid at last night’s show … I was my pleasure!!

Tonight, Sarah and I make our way to the Greek Theater here in LA to see Tori perform again. Wee!!!

Looked like a great show. Anything is good after stuffing your face with Chick-Fil-A. MMMMMMM. Original on a wheat bun no pickle plus cheese!! PURE HEAVEN!

It’s so awesome to see pics from Tori’s shows, no need to hide them behind the fold, each tori show is unique so nothing to spoil. I’ll be at the greek tonight! Maybe I’ll have my first trent sighting!

Hope everyone has a great night!

  4. It's Trent, Bitch! Says:

@Adam — some folks don’t like reading setlists or seeing photos before they get to see the show themselves :)

  5. Kent Says:

So. Totally. Jealous. in a good way, though :) I’m glad you guys are getting the chance to see Tori 2 nites in a row – that is super-duper fun!
I’m curious… did Tori chat much last night? Last time I saw her on the last tour, she barely uttered two words to the audience which SO goes against how she was in performance back in the early days. It was kinda disappointing because I luv her little stories and anecdotes.
have a great time tonight and hopefully you can take more pix in the LA venue

  6. Adam Says:

Totally get you on that one! I’m so excited to see who visits us tonight, in the past LA has brought many interesting “moments” to Tori on stage, lets see what she graces us with tonight.

  7. Linds Says:

Isn’t Circle Game a Joni Mitchell cover?

  8. It's Trent, Bitch! Says:

    @Linds — I thought Joni covered it ?

  9. Corinne Says:

She’ll be here (SLC) in three nights. Can’t afford to go though…Le Sigh. I will live thru you!

  10. Melissa Says:

Trent, my sister & I also have made a tradition of seeing Tori together for the last 13 years, even now that we live in different cities, we always meet up to go to as many shows as possible :) caught SD & LA this time

  11. Linds Says:

@Trent I did some digging and Joni wrote the song but Tom covered it.

Also, you should listen to Bjork’s cover. Was on a recent Joni Mitchell tribute album. It’s pretty fantastic.

  12. It's Trent, Bitch! Says:

@Linds — OH, I shall amend the post then, thanks!!
