Tim Burton’s ‘Wonderland’ Characters Do ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine
A couple weeks ago we got our first look at the amazing promo photos that have been released from Tim Burton’s new film Alice In Wonderland, featuring the beloved literary characters The Mad Hatter (played by Johnny Depp), The Red Queen (played by Helena Bonham Carter), The White Queen (played by Anne Hathaway) and more. The new issue of Vanity Fair magazine, the one with Heath Ledger on the cover, features another look at the full-size promo photos:

These photos are the same ones we saw previously but VF mag does publish the full-size photographs that the Technicolored promo pics were based on. After the jump, check them out for yourselves …
Mia Wasikowska as Alice Kingsley:

Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter:

Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen:

I am so in love with this movie already … based on just the promo photos. Is that wrong? Meh, who cares … I’m just so excited. I can’t wait to see more. While the movie doesn’t open in theaters until next year, there’s bound to be more fun promo stuff coming our way in the months leading up to the film’s release. Woot!!

It’s so NOT wrong! It’s oh so right! I rarely get excited about movies but this is definitely one I can’t wait to see! Trent, please don’t stop posting what you find.

This is just going to be so wonderfully wacky! And I’m loving how Johnny Depp is so the natural choice for the Mad Hatter. You just couldn’t imagine anyone else doing this part!
Can’t wait to see it! It’s going to be brill!

truly incredible. i love tim burton’s take on things and ive always been attracted to Alice’s innocence in the fairytale – but this looks completely unique!

Omg. This is going to be one hell of a movie!!!! CANT WAIT!!!!!!!! I wonder if there are any pics of Anne Hathaway as the White Queen??????? I would love to see what she looks like!

Am I the only one who thinks the girl who plays Alice is not very fitting? She isn’t pretty at all, or even interesting looking. She’s bland. Otherwise, I can’t wait to see this movie, especially Anne Hathaway because Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter aren’t going too far from their usual roles.

This looks wickedly amazing.
These pictures are fantastic, and I’m continuously amazed by Johnny Depp and his chameleon abilities. That guy can be anything. Brilliant.
I cannot wait.

I’m SO excited for this movie, but I heard it was gonna be in 3D or something?? Does anyone know if that’s true??
July 6th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
I guess I’m the only one who is bored with the choices? Oh imagine that…Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in ANOTHER Tim Burton movie. I love them and I’ll probably go and see this movie, but I hope JD doesn’t do the same character as Willy Wonka. My expectations are high so I hope it doesn’t disappoint!

Ohmigod! Ohmigod! Ohmigod! I cannot wait! I get so worked up everytime I see promo photos of this movie.

no offense to Trent.. but is there anyway i can get these photos without all the graffiti on them?!? these are great shots but i prefer them without all the pink junk on them.. can we get a link straight to the part of the VF site where these photos originate from? thanks for any help we can get!

hahahahaha @ Lana… did she just say Depp wasnt going outside of his “usual roles”….?!?!?! MUAHAHAHHAAHAHAHA!! yes.. because Depp continuously plays the same roles over and over again… from Duke in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas to Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates films to John Dillinger in Public Enemies to George Jung in Blow to Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd and the Demon Barber of Fleet Street to J.M. Barrie in Finding Neverland to Roux in Chocolat to Ed Wood in Ed Wood……………… yea.. just Johnny Depp play his usual same role over and over again.. MUAHAHAHAHA!
sorry, but that was just waaaaaaay too funny to see someone actually say that Depp was playing his “usual role” when Depp is probably the ONLY actor i can honestly say DOESN’T play the same role over and over again…. he’s the one actor you won’t ever see type cast, that’s for DAMN sure!

OMG. this movie looks abso-freakin-lutely amazing, trent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if its Tim Burton, i’m almost positive it will be very accurate to the original Alice in Wonderland, and of course, there will be a little darkness in there, just like in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory! but there is already hidden darkness in Alice in Wonderland, if you think about it…but this looks AMAZING!!! :)
July 7th, 2009 at 8:17 pm
@ Lana who are you to say that Mia Wasikowska isn’t pretty enough to be Alice? she is beautiful!
July 8th, 2009 at 4:54 am
Holy smokes I’m so excited for this movie!
July 10th, 2009 at 11:03 am
