Taylor Momsen Celebrates Her 16th Birthday In ‘Reckless’ Fashion
Taylor Momsen, who stars as Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl and apparently fronts a rock band called Pretty Reckless, played a show with her bandmates at the Hiro Ballroom in NYC, NY last night in celebration of her super sweet 16th birthday. Here are a few snaps of Little J, er, I mean Taylor Moms rockin’ out in NYC last night:
I never knew that Taylor Momsen had any musical talent to speak of … and by the Courtney Loveness of the way she looked on stage last night, I’d say the jury is still out on her talents. But, she’s young, rich, famous and on a hit TV series … if she wants to play in a band, then she gets to play in a band. I understand that a few of Taylor’s GG co-stars came out for last night’s gig … including Chace Crawford, Jessica Szhor, Ed Westwick and Michelle Trachtenberg. It looks like it was a fun event … still, I’m not all that convinced that Taylor has the chops to be a rock star. She does have the cracked out look down, tho. we saw her band open for the veronicas in seattle. I had no idea if was her for the first half of her set, until she said her name was Taylor and I thought she looked so familiar.
But I thought she was really good! I’d definitely go see her band again! She looked and sounded very very mature, that’s why I was so confused…she didn’t look 15!

I think her singing is really good, and her voice is very cool, but her stage presence is about what you’d expect of a 15-16 year old.

Actually we saw her band in New Orleans recently with The Veronicas and they were pretty good. They had some catchy songs and she did a good job, I was impressed. Although she shouldn’t wear what she wears at her age…

Well, the courtney love shit is a turn-off, and I don’t like the vibe she gives on stage, but you know.. Her voice isn’t that bad. I don’t think she’s in the zomg best band evar category, but if she released music online, I’d totally illegally download it and listen to it a couple of times. -shrug- Very 90’s like Brayden mentioned. ;)

Hey guys cut her some slack I’m sure we are all guilty of some awful fashion mishaps when we were 16. I recall flannel shirts and combat boots. I even remember my older cousins running around dressed as Madonna from the Like A Virgin tour, or even worse like Debbie Gibson/Tiffany, and my older guy cousins wearing their pants inside out or backwards or cutting one leg off. Not their finest moments. I’m sure she is enjoying herself as a teenager, and experimenting with her looks.

I really think she has a similar sounding voice with Ashlee Simpson. That raspy, can’t put your finger on it sound. Agreed that the stage presence is lacking…but she doesn’t sound extremely terrible!

Overall, her performance wasn’t amazing. But she’s got something there with her voice. I’ve seen WAY worse than this. Kudos to her for actually getting out there and doing it though.

I don’t think it’s that bad, her voice is really good in my opinion more real and raw and waaaaay better live than say BRITNEY SPEARS! Whom everyone seems to lurve! I think the trannyish look has got to go though, atleast fix her hair and stop wearing see through dresses… but I think it’s just a 16 year old girl having fun, why attack her for it. lol she’s probably more rich because of this band than any of you anyways.
