Sarah Palin Announces Her Resignation As Governor Of Alaska
In a surprising turn of events, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin announced today that she will be resigning her office as governor in about two weeks. No reason was given as to why Palin is resigning but I think it is safe to assume that she’s got her next career move all planned out. So now, in addition to being a loser in the 2008 Vice Presidential election, she is now a quitter as well. To be honest, this sounds like the best news EVER for the great State of Alaska:

Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her Wasilla home Friday morning. Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor’s Picnic at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks the weekend of July 25, Palin said. There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. Palin made the announcement flanked by Parnell and most, if not all, of her cabinet. Parnell ran unsuccessfully against Rep. Don Young in the Republican primary last year. The stunning announcement by Palin opens the floodgates for the 2010 gubernatorial race. Speculation that Palin might not seek re-election had fueled further conjecture of who might run.
I think it’s no surprise that this news makes me exceedingly happy … I say, good riddance. But, I’m not really counting on never having to hear from Sarah Palin ever again. She’ll prolly end up on Fox News or some equally evil place spewing her You Betcha nonsense for many years to come. But, as I said, at least the beautiful State of Alaska doesn’t have to deal with being saddled with her any longer. Happy Independence Day, Alaska! You really deserve this :)

BEST. NEWS. EVER! Maybe now we won’t have to hear from her or her family again.
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:13 pm
Good fucking riddance.
good luck with the Fox News offers, oh and FUCK YOU SARAH PALIN.
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:16 pm
YES! this is great news, though i’m slightly disappointed there isn’t some juicy scandal tied up in all of this. i just hope she doesn’t get very far in her bid for president in 2012… i would be happy never hearing anything from the palin family again. i’m sure alaskans are rejoicing as well!
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:18 pm
Totally agree…see ya!
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:43 pm
I hope it’s not for a presidential bid. You don’t get the highest job in the country by giving up ALL responsibility three years early! She can’t even finish a term as governor…
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:47 pm
I’m wondering if there isnt some scandal coming along and she’s getting the hell out of Dodge
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:50 pm
As an Alaskan voter, this is awesome for Alaskan government, but bad for Alaskan tourism. Tours that cruise ships were offering included the governor’s mansion in Juenau, a first for Alaska. She’s more popular than glaciers, bald eagles and moose!
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:52 pm
I’m quite sad that with less than a year and a half left she decides to quite. I do admire her saying that she’s doing it so she can learn more and grow more in her weak areas without using state money to cover the traveling costs like so many other lame duck governor’s do. I highly doubt that this is the last we’ll her of her. She already has a PAC set up and many seem to think she is getting ready for a 2012 run. I say good luck to her. It’s about time we get someone in there who doesn’t spend like there’s no tomorrow and increase the deficit.
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:54 pm
If she runs for the presidency for 2012, she’ll never make it past the primaries – if that. People know how much of an idiot she is considering she is a HUGE reason why the Republicans lost this past election. The is smarter than some people think. Way smarter. She’s an idiot for thinking she could ever EVER be president of this great country. EVER.
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:55 pm
** I mean, the PUBLIC is smarter than some people think. **
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:04 pm
Sarah Palin’s decision to step down to protect her family from the lies and insinuations that keep bombarding them is an act of courage from a parent’s point of view. I think anyone in her position must take in to account the affect this has on her family. Family should come first. I am sure if she were a democrat, many would praise her for her proactive stance.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:13 pm
@Gustie – I highly doubt she’s stepping down to protect her family. We all know she’s had the intention to run for the highest office in this country since last year. That’s her agenda.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:27 pm
@Allie are you serious??????????????????????????
you wish this homophobic c**t good luck? really? after everything she has said and done, all the crap against gay people, women, and anyone with half a brain, how can you wish her luck? I personally wish her the worse , I hope that she never grows as a human beingor prospers, I wish that she would go hide somewhere far far a way….like maybe the moon.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:29 pm
I really enjoy your blog but wish that you would stick to what you do best – celebrity gossip. Stay out of politics.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:30 pm
@marge — No, I will not do that. Politics affects my life, I will freely and openly discuss my feelings on my blog as I wish.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:32 pm
@Mariah — there is no way that quitting one elected office and then running for the highest in the land will work. this latest action just proves the kind of person she really is, not fit to govern anyone.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:35 pm
@Allie — “It’s about time we get someone in there who doesn’t spend like there’s no tomorrow and increase the deficit.” You mean like GWB who took our nation’s treasury surplus and blew it all during his tenure as President? Well, you got your wish … the man who bled our country dry of its funds is no longer President :) Thank Jebus!!
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:38 pm
There is some speculation already that she will run for the Alaska Senate Seat in 2010…
The coverage of her is better than any reality show! Her swan song speech is so funny! All those high paid consultants last year and she still can’t time her breaths correctly. Ha! It shounded as though she was reading her resume at the speed of a radio commercial legal disclosure!
Does she get to keep the clothes?
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:38 pm
This must be good news for alaska as i’m sure the alaskans were embarrased to har her as the governor. BUT did sarah palin just give two weeks notice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have to give one month and i’m not governor…………..
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:38 pm
@Trent I effing love you!!!
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:42 pm
@Allie – you wish the best for a woman who took on the potential VP seat when she KNEW she wasn’t ready; who is pro hunting from a helicopter to tire out animals until they are too weak to fight and then kills them; who doesn’t know how to keep her religious views out of government (unfortunately, most do that anyway); who can’t speak with class; who DOES spend money like there’s no tomorrow when it is thrown at her face; who supports and is part of the newer right wing extremists ? I am insulted as a woman and an intelligent human being that she is even in office. Shame on you.
July 3rd, 2009 at 2:56 pm
Trent, GWB may have used the treasury surplus to stimulate the economy, but where are the funds that Obama is using to stimulate the economy coming from? The surplus is gone. Now BO is bankrupting our nation by “giving away” what we really don’t have to give. Not to mention trying to run the auto, banking and insurance industry when the government can’t even operate the post office at a profit.
I agree with Marge. Stick to the celebrity gossip. It is far more entertaining than polictics anyway. You can’t create the crazy things that happen in Hollyweird and your opinions on what you know about the celebs are priceless.
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Geesh…I hate it when this blog gets political…..
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:08 pm
@Beth — Don’t shoot the messenger.
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:09 pm
@Gustie — at the end of the day, I have to write about the stuff that interests me … this stuff interests me. GWB is out of the White House and now Palin is out of the governorship — I’m happy, y’all! Woot!!
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:10 pm
If Palin is the Republican presidential candidate in 2012 then I guess Obama will cruise to a second term.
@ Gustie and Marge: this is Trent’s blog. He is entitled to talk about anything he wants.
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:13 pm
Na na na na Na na na na Hey hey hey Good-bye!
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:18 pm
I LOVE it when this blog gets political. I read the blog because I like hearing what Trent has to say about things. That’s the beauty of a blog – if it’s yours, you get to write about whatever you want. There’s no editor, no agenda, just your thoughts.
As for Sarah Palin, I hope MSNBC has reliable sources … because they’re being told Palin’s getting out of politics. That almost sounds too good to be true. I haven’t heard one political commentator say this was a smart move (especially with that stumbling press conference), although I haven’t been watching FOX news. Best case scenario is she gets her own show on FOX news so she can run her mouth and I don’t have to hear about it because I don’t watch FOX news. Huh, not watching/reading/listening to something you don’t want to hear about is such a crazy idea. ;)
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:21 pm
I know it’s your blog but it still annoys me. In the end I liked her. I’m very happy she didn’t win with McCain because this mess we’re in can be blamed on Obama and I like that (:
Anyways, my point is I hate Obama and you hate her so I think we’re even.
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:28 pm
@Janelle- I somewhat agree. I think it was a combination of not being ready and not being prepped well enough. At the time, and now, I was highly disappointed in that pick and just highly disappointed in the whole election. But that’s the past and it’s time to move on. She is brilliant in interviews where is allowed to be herself. The Katie Couric interview isn’t a good example. This is something that I think she needs to work on.
@Trent- ” Well, you got your wish … the man who bled our country dry of its funds is no longer President” Actually he is not. I’m 22 years old and myself, my kids, and possibly my grandkids will be paying upwards of $200,000 on interest alone on some of the stuff Obama is passing. His budget and other bills that he is ramming through the legislature are extremely expensive and he is on a spending spree only 6 months into his term! He is putting our country even deeper into debt than GWB ever did. Although being from the great state of Michigan, where we are currently $1.9 billion in debt to ourselves, you’d think I’d be used to it…………
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:35 pm
As exciting as this news is for a lot of people, I just want to remind people not to put their guard down yet. Just because she stepped down from AK doesn’t mean she’s fading out of the spotlight for any means. As an independent, I voted for Obama because Palin as a politician made me sick. HOWEVER, I do not think she’s without place. If the woman finally put her money where he mouth was and did her advocacy work for families of special needs children, I would go back to the Republican party and reconsider her. However a woman with her track record and exploits and manipulation needs to step aside from politics- they’re corrupt enough, and she’s doing nothing but adding to the damages of the Republican party and convincing the rest of the world that America is beyond stupid.
Way to go, Trent. Preach!
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:40 pm
Trent, I totally agree with ya, and PLEASE keep on writin’ about anything you feel like, because you have the brains and guts to do it. This is your blog and while I might disagree on some issues, you’re still pretty rational and smart about it. I just hope this crazy lady fades onto the background and stops embarrassing herself. Good riddance!!
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:46 pm
@ Allie – what did you expect from Obama? After all, the man inherited an outstanding debt spanned from eight years of bad decisions. He’s only been president for 6 months, I really don’t think he created the situation we are all in.
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Trent, did you see her speech? She infuriates me!! But she better be gone for good!! Keep writing about politics or whatever your heart desires haha! Love the site!!
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:52 pm
@Chivonee — Even :) xoxo
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Can you imagine if she had actually become VP?! The first horrific thing to happen during her time in office and obviously she’d be out the door, running for home. I hope she doesn’t still think she can run for Pres in 2012. Who in their right mind would vote for a woman who can’t even be bothered to finish out her term? No one elects quitters.
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Gustie- Her family was formed long before her political career. If she was interested in shielding them, she should have stuck to her job as a half-assed sports reporter for local Alaska news.
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:56 pm
@Trent – I agree with you a million percent. I don’t think she should be able to govern anyone or anything except her own family. And I agree that you should be able to write about whatever you want on YOUR blog. I love it – gossip and politics!
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:56 pm
@Trent
Keep posting what you find interesting, politics and all! besides, its how i find out about the political stuff anyway ;)
i love you!
July 3rd, 2009 at 3:59 pm
@Kim her show on FOXnews would be mostly “I’ll get back to you on that!”
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:01 pm
janelle- that would make a great title for the show. It would be a short 5 second segment.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:05 pm
@Gustie – Government doesn’t run the post office. The post office is operated by an autonomous public corporation that replaced the Post Office Department in 1971. It’s an agency of the government, but an independent one.
Also, the surplus wasn’t used to “stimulate” the economy. It was used to give the middle class a 50 cent tax break and the rich a HUGE tax break. It didn’t seem to stimulate anything, did it? He still managed to run this country into the ground.
Nuance is lost on you right wingers, isn’t it?
@Trent
I totally agree with you, so keep preachin’!
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:11 pm
wow i never really thought you were so hatefull and bitter isnt a good color on anyone.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:24 pm
I don’t like Palin, so hope she doesn’t run for President. She’ll lose and it will be good when she loses.
Didn’t like Bush either, but the people that don’t think Obama is driving the country into the ground with his spending are delusional. Yes Bush screwed up, but then Obama coming in and spending money that doesn’t exist doesn’t help and is not helping the economy. How much was piled into the car industries….and now they are starting to declare bankruptcy? What a waste of money. We will be paying for all of Bush and Obamas decision most of our lives and if you want to keep supporting him for your supposed tax cut good luck it might be a long wait. I mean whos got their rebate check yet?
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:25 pm
She is such a damn embarrassment for the USA.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:36 pm
I just feel bad for all the wolves she’ll now have time to shoot from helicopters.
July 3rd, 2009 at 4:53 pm
she just committed career suicide :)
July 3rd, 2009 at 5:28 pm
Anyone who shoots a moose from a helicopter has no business holding any public office. Shes a moron. I hope we never hear from her again.
July 3rd, 2009 at 5:49 pm
You go Trent!! You tell ‘em, kick some a**, and take no prisoners. At least we’re not talking about Le Beckham spreading his legs…….
July 3rd, 2009 at 6:00 pm
I think the whole Sarah Palin-hatin’ thing that this country has got going on is proof-positive of our complete lack of sound analytical skills and indicative of our abandonment of nuanced political analysis. While she is to blame for many of the “blunders” that she is unfairly maligned for, she is NOT all that bad (and I didn’t vote for her ticket or the other one). I would absolutely love it if she were to become prez one day and Trent, you will have to bow down like the bitch that you are.
July 3rd, 2009 at 6:29 pm
She’s a horrible person and I look forward to finding out the reason why she is quitting! Good riddance is right.
July 3rd, 2009 at 7:00 pm
See, when I made a post about Obama and how I don’t like him…and had reasons backing my opinions, I got called a racist and other horrible names. You can make a post about Sarah Palin (who, oddly, has more experience in politics than Obama and isn’t associated with the ACORN group), and it’s wildly popular. Want to know why? It’s because it’s “cool” to hate republicans right now.
You liberals preach tolerance and acceptance but whenever I give my opinion, it’s deemed wrong and I’m a bad person. I’ve even been ATTACKED for disagreeing with liberal viewpoints.
It’s pretty hypocritical
July 3rd, 2009 at 7:08 pm
One has to wonder what sort of S*** was about to hit the fan that she felt the need to run so suddenly. Very interesting indeed.
July 3rd, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Trent–I love you! Post whatever you want; it’s your blog and a free country!
July 3rd, 2009 at 7:45 pm
In the past ‘quitting’ has helped her, she gave up running for office when she lost at her first attempt to win a bid for Lt. governor. At that point she just helped around the republican party until they gave her..some position as a chairwoman or something (fuzzy fact-age) Before returning to actual politics and winning (suprise!) governor.
(YAY for listening to NPR, hah.)
With that said, ‘working on her weaknesses,’ or whatever she intends to do, leaving her term early, will not look good at alllll if/when she runs in ‘12.
July 3rd, 2009 at 7:49 pm
@Danielle — ACORN?!?!? LOL!!!!!!!!!!! You hang on to that, it’s about all the Republican party has left to hold on to ;)
July 3rd, 2009 at 7:50 pm
@Bill — OK. Good luck with that.
July 3rd, 2009 at 7:52 pm
@jenn — I hate no one, she just sucks as a political leader.
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:19 pm
I say good luck to her and her endeavours. If she wants to run for President, then, by all means, she should. Now, I’m not saying that I support her, but she knows what to expect, and now she’s getting ready for that. And anyone who thinks that she doesn’t derserve anything should have their heads examined.
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:26 pm
@Nan- You took the works right out of my mouth
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:27 pm
I wish we could all just get along. :(
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:50 pm
wow.. you act like sarah palin had any sort of position of power over you. she didnt get elected vp, shes not the gov of california..why the fuck do you care?
what a queen.
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:54 pm
just to remind a couple of ppl she kinda fixed alaska… it was being run by a corrupted govt and she changed all that.
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:56 pm
Hahahahahaha YOU GO TRENT!!!!!! I love how you feel so passionatley about this issue, and I am happy to see more poltical news on this blog!
@Shannon…If you are still following this thread that was the best comment ever you made by the way!!
Sarah Palin supports animal cruelty by being a champion for Brutal Aerial Hunting..Please say NO TO PALIN in 2012!!!!!!!
July 3rd, 2009 at 9:02 pm
It amazes me after everything we now know about Ms. Palin, that anyone could support her. She is just a fame whore, and a very poor representation of the Republican Party. Anyone who lets their religious beliefs guide their entire professional career has no business in charge of anything (especially the country). An elected official should speak for all the people, not just herself and her group of intolerant followers.
July 3rd, 2009 at 9:24 pm
It saddens me when people are judgmental and close-minded. Just because someone has a different view point than you does not make them an awful person. My dads (yes dads) are homosexuals and I think that is great! However, they do not talk nasty about people that have a different view point. Maybe you should take a lesson from them Trent. I mean that in the nicest way possible. I do really enjoy your blog, and you do way more for gay/lesbian/transgender rights than Perez Hilton.
July 3rd, 2009 at 9:33 pm
Danielle…couldn’t agree with you MORE!!!!!!!!!! Being liberal and democrat is the popular thing to be right now…which means not knowing what you stand for and being a follower is too!
July 3rd, 2009 at 9:44 pm
@Danielle I totally agree with what you’re saying about intolerance. I think of myself as a moderate socially liberal economically conservative and the crap I get for even that is amazing. I see intolerance on both sides but it frustrates me more from hardcore democrats as they seem to pride themselves on how open minded they are and often they are the first to be hateful against anything associated with being conservative/republican. Its not the hating Palin thing thats hateful but calling a news organization evil because its biased against your point of view is incredibly narrowminded and whats wrong with political ideaology in this country.
July 3rd, 2009 at 9:55 pm
Hannah…good choice of words!!! I’m like you…I’m pretty in the middle but lean more conservative but I do NOT hate on people that are democratic or liberal. But, I cannot stand radicals on either side!
July 3rd, 2009 at 10:27 pm
What a great day!
July 3rd, 2009 at 10:52 pm
@NoSpin — “What a queen”? A queen, since you asked, is a female monarch. Any other questions you need answered? :)
July 3rd, 2009 at 11:13 pm
Could you be a bigger A$$?
Bad enough you try to destroy all that is good about marriage and want have perversion given special rights and privliges but really what possible problem could you have with Sarah Palin.
Does it really bother you that much she’s a born woman and not a woman wannabe?
July 3rd, 2009 at 11:14 pm
BTW I didn’t ask but a Queen in this place seems to be a man who wishes he wasn’t.
July 3rd, 2009 at 11:20 pm
@ Trent: I say BRAVO with the political updates on your blog! I really enjoy your intelligent and respectful commentary. The only think I don’t enjoy about it is all the crazies that come out on these posts… but whaddya do.
* And to all those other people… we’re not liberals / Democrats because it’s the “cool thing to do”, like a bunch of you keep saying… it’s because 8 years of Republican rule have run our country and our world into the ground in every possible way (financially, environmentally, world conflict, etc). To turn this shit around, we need someone who is intelligent and makes decisions based on facts. And we finally have that in our President! Hooray! And also, have you people ever left this country and talked to anyone who’s not an American? You should, you’ll learn a hell of a lot…
July 3rd, 2009 at 11:22 pm
AHAHAHHAHAHA, is this guy Michael Letterman for real?!?!
July 3rd, 2009 at 11:27 pm
This is a great article about how Alaskans were feeling about Palin: http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2009/07/02/in-alaska-many-pine-for-the-old-palin/
It came out yesterday (7/2) – so it was such a shock to hear she was planning on resigning!
@Michaael Letterman: wow. Comments like yours just make me sad. So much hate and ignorance from someone I assume attends worship services where we’re taught to “love one another” and “judge not lest ye be judged.”
July 3rd, 2009 at 11:27 pm
I love the comments in this place. The people who left their trailers to vote, and don’t understand why a sane American wouldn’t want a one woman slaughter house helping run the country, trolling a message board and throwing out gay insults.
You go guys. Really. Your anonymous internet comments make you loved and respected. Even if your parents want you out of their basement.
July 3rd, 2009 at 11:55 pm
Trent, your blog is awesome, keep it up. :) I just had to say that.
July 4th, 2009 at 12:13 am
Does anyone know how she was as governor? I mean we all saw her mistakes and blunders when she was the vp nominee but how well did she run Alaska? I think it’s extremely odd that she would resign and then run for election in 2012. It just seems like this would be used against her. Truth be told, even though I didn’t agree with the woman I did like that she seemed “real”. Like she was the kind of woman who will sit down and get her hands dirty and such. Too bad that’s all I liked! Oh well, good luck Alaska!
July 4th, 2009 at 12:28 am
I was listening to npr this evening, and heard a sound bite of Palin making a statement that she’s stepping down because she “wants what is best for Alaska”- something to that effect.
July 4th, 2009 at 1:12 am
Trent you’re acting like a hateful hypocrite. Why would Alaskans be happy? They voted for her & she’s done a lot of good things for that state. You can’t even admit that because she doesn’t like your gays. She doesn’t run your state so why do you even care?
She had more experience than Obama, that’s why I think he’s not going to be a good political leader.
Who cares if she likes to hunt? NEWSFLASH, that’s what most people in her state like to do.
July 4th, 2009 at 1:39 am
damn, Trent! You sure did rouse the haters!
IMHO Palin is making her bid for pres. I hope she fails; but you never know…
Am I wrong in thinking that some people only love us “fags” until they have to make a “moral” choice about us.
stay strong, steadfast and keep doing what you do.
July 4th, 2009 at 2:12 am
Wow for a moment there, I thought this was one person’s blog where they can write about anything they wish? I didn’t realise there were rules that Trent has to follow just because he writes a popular blog…
I’m British, and I think that’s excellent news. She’s got less going on between her ears than a cabbage, after all.
July 4th, 2009 at 4:32 am
I for one would vote for Palin if she ran for President. It would be nice to have a “real” person run for a change. I feel the democrats need to pull their heads out from under the sand and see how crappy things are going now with a Dem running things. The wool has been pulled over you eyes and you are still listening to how well someone speaks, but he isn’t saying anything or keeping any promises. I for one want someone in the house that actually knows what the hell is going on and isn’t in it for their own pocketbook and actually thinks of me, the “little” guy for a change!!
July 4th, 2009 at 5:21 am
Yay!! That is all.
July 4th, 2009 at 6:11 am
@ Lori– It’s people like YOU who ruin this country for everyone else who still have a brain. Thanks a lot.
July 4th, 2009 at 6:12 am
You have time to comment on Sarah Palir, but still no mention of Iran on your blog. Shame on you.
July 4th, 2009 at 6:13 am
That fact that some of you people are saying you would actually trust this woman scares the ever living shit out of me.
July 4th, 2009 at 6:24 am
I’m glad she has resigned as well. And guys it’s Trent’s blog, he can write what he wants and as he said what he is interested in. It’s obvious from years of reading this blog that Trent is only interested in Britney, Madonna, and the death of Michael Jackson, and anything bad a Republican has done. He is not interested in writing about Obama spending money we don’t have or Obama slowly back-peddling on his promise for GLBT right such as DOMA and DADT.
But it’s his blog, and it’s his right to write what he wants. Take it with a grain of salt. This blog is not a life changing place.
On a personal note, I wish gays would wake up and realize that Democrats are just as bad as Republicans. They all lie, they all spend wastefully, they all have affairs, and they all end up back-peddling on their promises to serve whoever is lining their pockets the most. The only difference on GLBT rights between Republicans and Democrats is the Republicans hate us to our face and the Democrats love us during campaigns and then throw us under the bus afterward (i.e. clinton, and now it seems Mr. Obama).
July 4th, 2009 at 7:09 am
@QT — Why should Alaskans be happy? Because, as you stated, Alaskans voted for her AND SHE QUIT HER JOB! I’m happy that Alaska won’t be saddled with a quitter. And I absolutely can and will admit that she, again as you stated, “doesn’t like your gays” — and that is reason enough to celebrate that fact that she is no longer in office. Hallelujah, I say! And thank you QT for making my point more clear :)
July 4th, 2009 at 7:10 am
@Lilliah — For once, I do agree with Sarah Palin on something. Her resigning office is “what is best for Alaska”. Her resigning from the US, IMHO, is what is best for our country, too.
July 4th, 2009 at 7:15 am
@Michael Letterman — Well said. Your ignorant comments, which I will leave for all to read, are the perfect example with what is wrong with the right wing conservative movement. You keep voicing your opinions and beliefs in as public an arena as you like. Your political party is disintegrating and withering away because of comments like yours. Please, keep it up. I welcome your self-destruction for as long as it takes because, hopefully eventually, your party will wisen up and realize that it’s comments like yours that are destroying this country and perhaps, maybe one day, they’ll wake up.
July 4th, 2009 at 7:22 am
@badwhodo — To be honest, I hope she does run for president. If the Republican party is dumb enough to pick her as their candidate then I welcome that choice. It would mean that they are hellbent on showing the country and the world that they are not fit to lead. In all honesty, I know they are smarter than to put their faith in a politician who couldn’t even be bothered to complete her term of office. I know she has her fans but anyone with sense must know that a person who can’t successfully finish out ONE TERM as governor surely is not qualified to lead the nation. I mean … seriously.
July 4th, 2009 at 7:41 am
if its true that she wants to be presidential candidate for 2012, then she just shot herself in the foot. So when times gets tough and the public doesn’t like you then you quit, yeah, that’s the kind of president that I want,
July 4th, 2009 at 7:51 am
I don’t understand her reasoning…what makes her think that she could be an efficient president of the U.S. if she can’t even handle being governor of Alaska.
If she can’t handle the media glare now….how is she going to handle it when she actually tries to run for the presidency.
I just don’t understand.
July 4th, 2009 at 9:02 am
@Vanessa, Michigan-You are 100% right, she cannot handle the media glare….because they are telling the truth. Having a cute smile, and peppy catch phrases will only get you so far.
It is amazing to me how many replies on this blog are anti-gay or descriminatory. I guess that comes natural to people who have been spewing that garbage all their lives. Their mentality must be “that fag, bitch, black, etc..” is beneath me and cannot have an opinion. After the spanking the Republicians took last November, you would think they would realize that type of intolerant and non-inclusive thinking is passe and so yesterday. Well they will get a reminder again in 2012.
Trent-love this blog, keep up the good work. I especially love it when you blog about musical artists that we have not heard from for a while. It keeps me up to date, so I know what to look out for on Amazon.com.
July 4th, 2009 at 9:11 am
I love the hypocrits calling the hypocrits “hypocrits”. Seriously people, no one is right or wrong in this – unless we’re talking about matters of law – there are only opinions. Why, if we are conservative or liberal do we have to resort to name calling and haters on BOTH sides – Trent (love ya) but you are just as bad sometimes, so let’s be honest. Its cool if that is what you want to write about. People can choose what they want to read.
July 4th, 2009 at 9:17 am
just wanna say that TRENT, YOU ARE SO F-ING COOL! Ignore the haters (or respond intelligently, as you do) and keep up the good work!!
July 4th, 2009 at 9:19 am
@It’s Trent, Bitch – How does the Kool-Aid taste? I mean, you seem to believe whatever your liberal media tells you to believe. Granted she might not have been the best candidate for VP, but like Obama is standing up to his “anointed one” status. Americans wanted change by voting him in…please let me know when that change is here. And I don’t mean pulling out our troops without a plan…closing GITMO without a plan…spending BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of dollars to “fix” companies that ruined themselves. You might want to refill your glass…it seems like it’s almost empty.
July 4th, 2009 at 9:26 am
If she is running in 2012, why quit now? What’s she going to do for three years when she’s not raising her family, helping out with the grandchild and so on? It’s an awful long time for a national figure to be out of the limelight (unless she decides to pull a Nixon, of course). She’s probably deluded enough to think she can step off the radar for a while and then go up against a campaigner as formidable as Obama (who, lest we forget, had probably the best-run and most innovative campaign in the history of politics in 2008: finally, the Democrats learned how to campaign properly!).
I wonder if the people condemning Trent for talking about politics on his own web site (!) would be complaining quite so much if it was a Democrat, not a Republican? When you say “don’t talk about politics”, you basically mean that you don’t want to hear bad things about Republicans, don’t you? If it were bad things about Democrats, you’d be all ears, wouldn’t you?
This is Trent’s web site and he’s entitled to post what he wants. If you don’t like it, then there are plenty of other sites full of like-minded people.
Oh, and, on the topic of Palin resigning, if you want a giggle:

July 4th, 2009 at 9:27 am
@ Trent- Thank you for posting political-based blogs. I admire that you are a smart human being who posts on many subjects, not just gossip.
@ everyone else who wrote shit/Sarah Palin lovers/ignorant folks- FUCK YOU.
July 4th, 2009 at 9:28 am
@Joseph — You are so right. I now see the light. From here on out I will blog about the things that you believe. You betcha! Hahahaha … you hang on to whatever you need to to get thru the day. I’ll be bizzy over here celebrating good times ;D
July 4th, 2009 at 9:41 am
Yep…I rest my case.
July 4th, 2009 at 10:05 am
@ Michael Letterman Says:
“Bad enough you try to destroy all that is good about marriage and want have perversion given special rights and privliges but really what possible problem could you have with Sarah Palin.”
Heterosexual people destroy “all that is good about marriage” EVERY SINGLE DAY, all by ourselves, by stepping outside of the bond, not respecting each other, creating a miserable mess (because so many people are still living under the delusion that someone else can make them happy or complete them), and then by divorcing. Marriage is not inherently anything other than what people make of it- and that depends on the character of the particular people, which has nothing to do with penises and vaginas. Many people marry out of insecurity and codependency issues. We heterosexual people are really not that special, Michael, just because we “love” people of the opposite sex. Mature, respectful and functional relationships don’t have anything to do with gender issues.
July 4th, 2009 at 10:17 am
Lori, I don’t think people really realize what Obama is doing to this country. Many people voted for him and don’t keep up with the news. Sad.
Has anyone really watched the news to see WHY Palin resigned? Or do y’all just listen to the “It’s what’s best for Alaska” part.
Before judging someone just because you already don’t like them…look further to see why she really resigned before you all start talking out of your asses.
July 4th, 2009 at 10:33 am
@summer i don’t care why she quit at all, as long as she stays a quitter and continues to quit from here on out, i am happy.
July 4th, 2009 at 10:42 am
@Allie i don’t know which interviews you’re talking about where SP sounds intelligent. Do you mean when she’s cooking with Martha Stewart. Even in her narcissistic 6 minute statement i feel like i’m the idiot because i have no clue what she’s trying to say and that’s not even an interview, she just speaking all by herself and she can’t make any sense. I think the worst thing about SP becoming president (other than obviously she would be president) is that the first female president of the united states would be an idiot. At least BO is an intelligent person. Liken her becoming THE FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES with someone like Flava Flav become the first black president. It would be just horrifying. In any event i don’t think anyone has to worry about SP becoming president i hope that the US has learned from the past 8 years that an idiot doesn’t make a good president.
July 4th, 2009 at 10:50 am
It amuses me that you think my party is deteriorating, let the Barney Franks of the world unite. You seem to forget your little party has been in power for what less than a full year? In that time the banks needed bailout Barney boys little twins fannie and freddy proved to be a huge mistake and this country moves ever closer to WWIII.
Oh and how it must burn you not to be able to blame Bush anymore for all the world’s problems. You wanted Obamabadabingbong well you got him. Remember that as one by one his promises dry up and flow alway like the dust they were built on.
We still have don’t ask don’t tell, we still have bans on gay marriage in most states, we’re still on a crash course with the econnomy and you still are full of crap.
As for posting in a public forum I thank you for the opportunity. But you’re just a piece of the puzzle the bigger picture is your sponsors and perhaps they need be made aware of some of your more controversial posts. I’ll be glad to help.
July 4th, 2009 at 10:57 am
@Michael Letterman — Just keep coming back — I appreciate your concern for gay rights, you are always welcome :) Come back often and repeatedly :)
July 4th, 2009 at 11:07 am
Trent, calling an entire party “dumb” is making you look even more dumb. Not all republicans are as conservative as you think they are, and you saying all of this is insulting to them. You’re starting to make Perez seem amiable.
July 4th, 2009 at 11:27 am
@KP Love — Clearly you misunderstood what I wrote. I said IF the Republican party is dumb enough to choose a quitter as their presidential nominee then they get what they deserve. I absolutely know that educated Republicans and Democrats alike are intelligent. The Republican party has a chance to prove to this country that they are still worthy of representing US citizens in government. But it is my opinion that if they choose to select Sarah Palin as their candidate than that intelligence will not show thru and they will just ruin themselves further. Your comment about making that other person seem “amicable” based on my comments is wholly ridiculous and laughable.
July 4th, 2009 at 11:29 am
I’m proud to be Canadian.
July 4th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Also any politician who even mentions anything regarding their religious beliefs should be fired. Religion and Government should NEVER exist in combination. Keep your religious beliefs to yourself and do your job. Strive for health and happiness in the community, and leave it at that.
July 4th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
@It’s Trent Bitch
Oh, I guess I should have mentioned that most of the dealerships that are being closed due to the bailout are ones who supported the GOP…and the fact that we need to “tighten our belts” (according to Obama), but yet he can take his wife ona $50,000 date…or the fact that all the jobs Obama promised our country hasn’t actually happened yet…you think in 7 months he’d be able to do something, and yet unemployment has actually RISEN since he took office (it’s actually the highest it’s been in 26 years)…I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here because it’s been in my experience that liberals are really good at turning a blind eye at facts. I guess ACORN isn’t all I have to hold on to, now is it?
July 4th, 2009 at 12:11 pm
@Danielle — OK. That’ll do.
July 4th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
Trent, you bashing on Mrs. Palin is wholly rediculous and laughable.
July 4th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
Why are republicans so bitter? This lady is a obvious joke, and whats laughable is how people continually support her. Even her own party threw her under the bus. Puzzling.
July 4th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
you are all rude, sarah palin is a person too if you a agree with her or not, god none of you would like to be called stupid and a disgrace and that your effing hated. shes just living her life like the rest of us one mistake at a time. i know that she chose to live her life in the public eye but her kids didnt, how do you think they feel when they read something like this about their mom? if everyone hates her soooo much just stop talking about her and maybe you will all get your wish and she will just fade back into the alaskan wilderness.
July 4th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
@KP Love — I think you mean “ridiculous”.
July 4th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
OY! Everyone is entitled to their opinions, man! When I registered to vote last year (Because I finally turned 18) I had to register as a Democrat. Personally, I agree with the Democrat Party more as opposed to the Republican Party but to me it doesn’t really matter. If I like the person(s) that’s running for president and I agree with their opinions, strategies, etc. and do my hardcore research then I’ll vote for them. I didn’t care for John McCain all that much with his perspective on how to solve the US’ problems and I believe that Sarah Palin was one of the primary reasons he didn’t get elected for president. She pretty much ruined his chances by her ridiculousness. I just don’t understand how anyone can actually like her as a politician. I mean, yeah, I don ‘t know her whole entire life story but from what I’ve seen and read about her based on accurate FACTS I believe she’s incompetent. She can’t even form a basic sentence together without pausing and saying “uh” and going off topic to on topic to whatever topic. I agree with someone else who said during her 6 minute interview it didn’t even make sense… Her speech was extremely messy and out of place and the metaphors made me “LOL” big time. Katie Couric totally highlighted Sarah Palin’s unintelligent personality to the US when she interviewed her last year and people got mad @ Katie Couric for being “too harsh” on Sarah. Um, excuse me? If Hillary Clinton acted like Sarah Palin did in the interview Hillary would be extremely bashed and everything else. Sure a lot of people made fun of Sarah but she gave them the material to do so… People just like Sarah Palin because she’s attractive and because of her personality and they, for some reason, ignore her political career. And, for crying out loud, she got mad at David Lettermen (who is a celebrity and is paid to say and do what he wants on his OWN show just like Trent is allowed to do on his OWN blog) and wouldn’t stop feuding with him in the press! What happens when terrorist attacks come into play if she’s president? Is she going to talk to the main ruler of the country’s terrorists and call them Big Meanie Faces and tell them to “Treat us how you want to be treated” ? Exactly. She seems like a nice person I suppose but when you’re in politics you can’t expect everyone to love you since you clearly stand for something that’s public around public people that don’t share the same interests. I know I’m rambling but that’s just my two cents or whatever. : )
July 4th, 2009 at 5:45 pm
@ Danielle-
Obama has stated “this is going to get worse before it gets better”- is this is a fact that you have decided to turn a “blind eye” to? He has said this repeatedlyyyyy, but anybody who isn’t so preoccupied with misdirecting their anger would notice how obvious this was, anyway. He shouldn’t have even had to state that- and maybe you don’t understand the enormity of the situation if you think any president who took office in January could have reversed things that quickly. Maybe you didn’t watch any of the speeches where he was trying to forwarn people like you to not expect magic. He basically said “don’t expect me to be able to fix this for all of you really quickly” in at least 2 speeches that I saw, and I remember hoping people would, for once, TAKE NOTE so we didn’t have to listen to the usual “OMG! he hasn’t done anything yet!” nonsense- at least not this soon. It took a whole lot of irresponsibility on the part of a whole lot of us Americans to achieve this level of messiness, and we have a lot of lessons to learn now- one of them might be giving up on the idea that any president is ever going to save your ass or live up to your irrational expectations. People always do this with presidents- have we not noticed that yet? The collective irresponsibility of all kinds of people is what brought this on- sometimes we have to suffer the consequences when the entire country goes down the wrong path, and the consequences are going to happen now no matter who is in office. Personally, I think most of us could use a wake-up call and could learn a lot from all of this if we could bear to stop whining for a moment. People have always been divided because of their own ignorance and hatred, and you are just buying into it- that’s all you’re doing when you rant at Trent. Nobody “attacks you” because it’s “cool to hate republicans”- that’s just creating drama. If you want to have dialogue with someone who agrees with you, you would probably do that in a different sort of blog, no? You started with your liberal slams in your second post- obviously you aren’t looking to have a meaningful discussion, either.
July 4th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
@Geana, If you live in the public eye, it is inevitable that your immediate family will be too. It comes with the job of living under scrutiny. The media would naturally try to search up dirt on them, disgusting as it is. She is not JUST living her life like the rest of us. She represents nearly 700,000 people. It is a huge responsibility, which she failed because she quit.
I agree that nobody deserves to be degraded in such a negative way. But at the end of the day she dug her own grave. Sarah Palin made very incendiary comments which were intolerant of other people. Those people got angry rightfully and Trent is one of them.
I love Barack Obama but that does not mean that I hate everybody who opposes him. They are entitled to their own opinion. But the bitterness from the Republicans and Democrats is getting so poisonous, unfortunately.
PS. Trent, I know that you only like to talk about politics, because it interests you. Doesn’t other events outside of the US interest you too? You should talk more about Iran’s protests and North Korea’s nuclear program.
July 4th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
I think people have made wa-aaay too big a deal about Sarah Palin. She’s not evil reincarnated; she’s a politician. There has been such a disproportionate amount of media coverage on her since the presidential election, and maybe now it will finally begin to halt once she’s officially out of the public position… although I’m sure that won’t happen.
I would be very surprised if she were to attempt a presidential bid in 2012. She’s got to have the worst political advisors possible if anyone is affirming that this is the best way to do it.
July 4th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
Oh my goodness people. All this name calling and belittling is ridiculous. I am a preschool teacher and I swear some of my preschoolers act more mature than about 95% of people that have posted on this post. Y’all are just trying to make each other mad.
Pro-Palin people- Why get so worked up? Why do you really care what a man who writes blogs for a living thinks about Palin? I am sure Palin doesn’t a bit what Trent thinks of her. Why should you? Everyone is entitled to their opinion. That is what makes out country so great!
Anti-Plain people- It really isn’t very classy or dignified to say such horrible things about someone that you have never met. You are just a few pieces to a puzzle. Remember that.
Trent- Just had to throw in that I love your blog. :)
Lets put aside our differences for one day people! It is July 4th for pete’s sake.
July 4th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
I don’t understand why people are up in arms because Trent detests Sarah Palin. Don’t let gender deceive you (since some people think gay men blindly idolize everything female), Sarah Palin is one of those stereotypes of a right-winger who believes that AIDS was created to rid the world gay people. She is not an ally to the community and it’s funny that people get upset because gay people don’t treat her as a diva. Why should we? She thinks we’re all going to hell and doesn’t want our vote anyways. I still find it laughable that the Republican party figured that all of the disgruntled Hilary voters would switch to McCain just because Palin’s a woman. Palin doesn’t even deserve Hilary’s scraps.
July 4th, 2009 at 10:35 pm
Ask yourself this: Do you really want someone in office who believes in and prays against WITCHERY??
July 5th, 2009 at 6:10 am
@ Lilliah – I completely agree with your statement. It seems everyone wants instant fixes for problems that have been forming over the last several years, because of greedy people.
@Trent – as a avid follower of your blog, I whole-heartedly apologize for the hatred that has been spewed on this post. It seems that the very “conservative americans” are forgetting the major part of the american constitution FREEDOM OF SPEECH. I personally think that these conservative people need to remember when they are bashing yours or anyone else’s lifestyle that the bible that they love to quote states that there is supposed to be a separation of church and state. And while they may not choose to follow another’s lifestyle they can be respectful that the person has the right of choice. As for Sarah Palin and President Obama, I am not a ‘FAN’ of politicians, however, I do believe that a person should be measured by their actions and who they are. Sarah Palin is not the kind of person I would trust to keep a political office for more than she feels she can get from it. And as it has only been the first 6 months, I believe people should let the president do his job before complaining.
And at people that say they hate President Obama, doesn’t that technically make you anti-american as he is the current commander-in-chief of the country and Leader of the Nation? Besides you don’t even know the man personally to truly decide if you hate him. That would be like me saying I hate … Dick Chaney and he has never shot me in the face.
July 5th, 2009 at 9:57 am
I find your enthusiasm for her resignation humorous when it just means she’s planning on extending her reach beyond Alaska once again…at least in Alaska she is contained. And seriously, have you ever been to Alaska? Yes it’s geographically beautiful but let’s not exaggerate it’s greatness. I think they still believe the earth is flat and use leeches to cure disease.
July 5th, 2009 at 10:07 am
@Me — While you find my enthusiasm humorous, I find Mrs. Palin’s attempts at furthering her political ends humorous. I am very happy for the people of Alaska because they will mostly likely never allow a quitter like her anywhere near another political office ever again. I’m also happy for the US because Palin continues to show just how unqualified she is for any national political office. Her followers love her to death, which is fine, but the vast majority of people with any sense in this country see her for what she really is.
July 5th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
thank you Trent. I don’t understand what her followers see in her, and they’ll shoot down anyone who calls her as they see her, as we saw with Letterman. Come on, Letterman’s been on TV since Palin was in middle school, he has the upper hand. I remember Palin fans were attacking Grace Jones some months back when she called Palin an insult to feminism. Grace Jones is a true diva and an ultimate gay icon, the same gay men who’ll bow down to Grace wouldn’t cross the street to save Sarah’s life if the opportunity came about. After all, if you say that gays are a cancer to society and that AIDS was created as a way to get rid of us, you don’t deserve to have us save your life. You made your bed when you chose to hate us.
July 6th, 2009 at 7:12 am
What a coward waiting until the 4th of July when everyone is on vacation or out celebrating our great nation to announce that she is peacing out. I smell something fishy. And as a female, I don’t care if our first female president or VP is Republican. I just hope she is more intellegent and has a more open mind than Palin.
Trent — I commend you for sticking to your guns unlike other bloggers. And to those who have come to the site to attack him…there are plenty of other sources to go to if you are insulted by his opinions (which is just insane seeing as that is one of the many rights that we celebrate every 4th).
July 6th, 2009 at 11:15 am
Why isn’t this HEADLINE news! And such great news it is!
There’s got to be more to the story and I can’t wait to hear it.
She quit to run for prez? Why so early? Why look like a quitter?
She quit because of the publicity and how it was hurting her family? Her publicity is dying down and she has always courted the media, even when she looked stupid for it.
She quit because of scandal? Um, wouldn’t it be better to stay in office and defend yourself?
She quit because she wanted to do what’s best for Alaska? Um, why ever run in the first place or why not quit back when running for VP?
Something smells fishy…..
July 7th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
I’m from the great state of Alaska, and live in the capitol city (I can see her empty house from where I’m sitting and typing right now). We are all pleased at the news that she resigned. We just celebrated our state’s 50th year of statehood and she was here in Juneau and didn’t even bother going to the reenactment of statehood. That says a lot of her bizarre behavior. And Trent, please come visit our beautiful state sometime. There’s lots of great fishing and hiking. Plus it’s 87 degrees right now!
