Kevin Jonas & Danielle Deleasa Are Gettin’ Hitched!
People magazine is reporting EXCLUSIVELY that eldest Jonas brother Kevin is — get this — engaged! According to the mag, Kevin has decided to ditch the purity ring and asked his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa to be his wife … and she said yes (actually, People reports that she said “yes, yes, yes like 500 times super fast in a row”). So … yeah … Kevin Jonas is gettin’ hitched, y’all:
Kevin Jonas surprised his girlfriend Danielle Deleasa by showing up at her doorstep in New Jersey early Wednesday morning and dropping down to his knee to ask her to marry him. Presented with a cushion-cut diamond ring that Jonas designed with Jacob & Co., Deleasa couldn’t believe what was happening. Then, “She said yes, yes, yes like 500 times super fast in a row,” the oldest of the Jonas Brothers tells PEOPLE exclusively. Jonas, 21, and Deleasa, 22, who met in May of 2007 while vacationing with their families in the Bahamas, haven’t set a wedding date yet. “It still feels like a dream,” she tells PEOPLE.
I, uh, suppose congrats are in order for the happy couple. It seems almost Biblical that folks this young would choose to get married but the Jonas Bros. are kind of a religious bunch. ha, i’m not surprised they’re engaged so young. the whole no sex before marriage thing is a big incentive to get married sooner. i still think he’s gay, but i’m not expecting him to come out because he’s christian. thats sad.

Eh the age doesn’t really surprise me. I’m 22, and a lot of my friends around my age have been getting engaged over the last year. And they’re not all particularly religious either.

It really is amazing how many people get married young so they can have sex because “God wants them to wait.” Most of these same couples end up in divorce. What does God have to say about that? Also, there seems to be several waves of engagements/weddings: after high school, after college, and then every two years after that. A lot of times it’s because people are scared to be by themselves outside the safety of an academic environment. Moral of the story: wait until you’re older, kids.

Seriously? He’s 21 and you are making snap judgments about him being ready or not to get married? I would say making a commitment to someone instead of sleeping around and stumbling around drunk shows conviction and maturity. If he chooses to wait to have until he’s married, good for him. He doesn’t have to worry about pregnancy or STIs. If he has decided to start a family, good for him. He’ll grow up more through this experience than any other. There is no “set age” when someone is mature enough to get married — it varies person to person, and couple to couple. I got married at 22 and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I definitely learned that I had more growing up to do than I thought, but my husband and I learned things together and it helped us as a couple. To the gal above, Susan, who said “most of these same couples end up in divorce,” that’s true of all marriages, at any age. More marriages fail than succeed. But please Trent, do not belittle his choice, and say things like “this is good news… yes?” It’s condescending. I remember people saying that kind of thing to me and my husband before we got married… people who I had thought supported me through thick and thin… and it just shows that THEY were not ready for such a thing.
You act as if you are so tolerant… be tolerant of this too, without the condescending nature, please. I wish him and his fiancee all the best.

Good luck to them. They catch a lot of flack for those purity rings, when really it is an honorable decision. Who has the right to say they are doing it wrong, when most of us are out there stumbling and fumbling when it comes to love and sex? If it was easy and clear cut then we wouldn’t have Cosmo and millions of relationship books you know?
Maybe it will work, maybe it wont, but you can’t judge them when most all of those couples who end up divorced did go for the “test drives.”
Are they really young? Yes, but people used to marry very young and people are getting married very young these days now too. It’s not like she is 16 and he is 20. I say we wish them well without judgment or condescension.

My 21 year old cousin got married like 5 days ago. Some friends of mine from highschool, both 20 now, got married last November. A friend from work who’s 20 is engaged.
Not too unusual I think.

Yeah, for some reason my generation is starting to marry young again. Not like before, but it feels like they are getting their college diploma and walking straight onto the wedding aisle. It’s up to everyone to make their choice but I do feel like most couples that marry younger seem to be the religious type that are saving themselves. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

my parents were maried younger than that and they will be married 20 years this august, just becuase they are young doesnt mean they cant make this work, and they may be getting married because they love each other. it isnt all about sex…

I kind of do think it’s good news, because kevin does seem to have his head on straight. Then again…hearing about her, I’m not sure if it’s perfect news. She kind of seems like she’s putting up with him so she can grab his money and run eventually.
Oh well, I do hope it lasts for them.

I just don’t understand why everyone is saying he is soooo young. A lot of people get engaged right around this age. A ton of people meet the person they will marry in college and get engaged at the end (which would make them 21 or 22). I was 23 when I got engaged. It’s really not that different.

IN the people article it says they met on the beach 2 years ago and she didn’t even know who the Jonas brothers were so it sounds like her interest in him is for the right reasons. I say good luck to them. I hope it works. My sister got married at 20 years old and just celebrated her 22nd wedding anniversay and they knew each other less than a year when they got engaged. It happens.

I’m all for people being happy and I do wish them the best. however, personally, I don’t understand that the rush is. I’m 21 and in absolutely no rush to settle down/get married/ anything of that sort. But people are different. The sex part may be an aspect, or maybe after some crazy years of fame he really is ready to slow/settle down.
