‘District 9’ Releases A New Trailer
Depending on where you live in the US (or in the world) you may have seen billboards, posters and/or notices around town promoting a new film called District 9. The promo artwork looks like “official” notices that aliens are not allowed to use certain bus benches, which have been deemed for “Human Use Only” (click HERE to see a few examples). It’s all very ingenious, I think. District 9 is a film that features a future world where aliens come to Earth and are segregated in an area called district 9 in South Africa. Until now, the video promo for the film has been shadowy at best. Today we get to see a newly released movie trailer that gives a bit more info about the film itself:

I really love films like this (check out D-9.com to see how fun the official website is). Taking conventional thought and turning it completely around. We abhor the notion of segregating different races from one another but, in this film, we seem happy to segregate alien species from humans. I love this teaser video … I can’t wait to see more (but not too much more as to ruin the movie before we get to see it). After the jump, check out the new trailer for District 9 in full …
Okay … when alien shows up and starts talking, I kinda freaked out. It’s so easy to see how it is human nature to repel things that are different. If I saw an alien like the one featured in this film, I’d run my ass the other way. Methinks the film will make the audience sympathetic to the segregated aliens, tho. I can’t wait to see this movie. See, give me special effects AND a good story and I’ll eat that shizz up. District 9 opens in theaters on August 14.

Ahh i’ve seen the commercials, they look amazing. Kinda like this Terminator show I went on a few years ago, at Universal Studios in Florida. Skynet and everything. Haha it was pretty entertaining.

I grew up in South Africa and can remember the seperate buses, park benches, beaches, malls and everything else for blacks and whites with the signs on them that read “Whites only” or “Blacks only” and that was in the early Eighties. there is also an area in Cape Town called ‘District 6′ that was a township inside the city. This movie is a look at apartheid with a different spin

I’m dying to see this movie. I’m trying to understand it from the trailer. So the aliens have been there for 28yrs and the humans won’t let them leave because they want their technology right? So the aliens are fighting to get out? but whats with the robot, is it the guy who got sprayed in the face in a robot suit trying to help them leave?

I work for a movie theatre here in town and we just got some bathroom stickers to place on the doors, complete with a phone number to call. I dialed it and it’s actually pretty funny. I love it when movie companies go all out with small little things like this.
The number is 1-866-666-6001

This is definetly not like Alien Nation, a late 80s early 90s movie and then one season series on Fox that dealt with aliens being segregated Los Angeles, though they look more human than the ones in District 9. Can’t wait :)

It looks like its going to be a good Sci Fi flick…butt, how can an alien race with such hot on the street technology wanted by humans have a hard time leaving when its obvious they have superior technology that needs to be activated with alien DNA. You watch the trailers and you see the big alien ship and the small human helicopters flying around it…yeah, thats definitely convincing of our stronghold on the aliens. The movie probably will have a good explination on why the aliens are so submissive with such technology.
