David Beckham Confronts Another Angry Fan
... but this time kinda makes nice, gets a handshake

Another game, another angry confrontation with a heckling fan for David Beckham. While Becks was on the field playing with the LA Galaxy in Kansans City, KS, he was assailed with what are being reported as “disgraceful” and insulting taunts about his wife Victoria Beckham. Becks decided to confront the angry fans, much like he did at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA last weekend (an act that resulted in Becks being fined $1,000. for the infraction of unsportsmanlike behavior). This time around, tho, Becks and one fan ended the feud by shaking hands:

Here we go again! These days it seems David Beckham is intent on getting more attention for run-ins with angry fans at his matches than for his footwork on the pitch. Yesterday the football superstar had yet another unfriendly face-to-face with an angry spectator at a Kansas City game – this time to defend wife Victoria Beckham’s honour. This comes a mere few days after that now infamous encounter with a riled up LA Galaxy fan – now banned for life – who refused to shake his hand. David looked upset as he went up to the man who was wearing an England shirt during the LA Galaxy’s game at Kansas City Wizards on Saturday claiming he was bad-mouthing his wife Victoria. David could be heard during the match – broadcast live on U.S TV – shouting to the fan: “Is that an England shirt?” But rather than have an angry war of words to defend his wife’s honour, he held out his hand for a handshake in what appeared a friendly gesture and a peace offering. David made sure there was no repeat of the bust-up, which marred last weekend’s friendly with AC Milan and saw him fined $1,000 (USD) by Major League Soccer. Later, however, he branded the fan a ‘disgrace’ for allegedly hurling insults about Posh. When asked about the incident in an interview immediately after the final whistle, he blasted: “He shouldn’t actually be wearing that shirt because what he was saying about my wife was a disgrace.” But he was clearly disappointed with the fan, who appeared to be holding a can of drink. David was again booed by sections of the sell-out 10,000-plus crowd at the ground, which is actually a minor league baseball stadium. But there was still plenty of support for the England star, who signed autographs for fans after helping the rejuvenated Galaxy come from a goal behind to draw 1-1.

Tsk, tsk … if Becks continues to let himself get goaded into confronting all the fans that have nasty things to say he might really get himself into trubs. How is it that he has managed to make it this far in professional soccer and yet still cannot control his impulses while playing on the field? It would really behoove him to remember the old adage, I’m rubber your glue, and just keep his head in the game … in a professional manner. This kind of behavior only tells his detractors that he is an easy mark for verbal assault. He needs to really change up his game-plan or this foolishness will likely become a nightly event. Brush it off, Becks … you’re better than this.

He should just repeat the amount of money he’s making in his head over and over. Then realize there is a very good chance the people egging him on spent most of their paycheck on those tickets.

    Sweet victory.

hmmmm maybe , because he has been putting up with this for almost a decade… if you look back at his career he only reacts this way when they speak about his family … [ the first incident , that one i didnt see it but oh well ]

either that or he’s getting old … hahaha, either way … i certainly would react the same way if they were insulting my family ….

As much as I love Becks I couldn’t see him kicking anyones ass. Sorry, Becks…I just don’t believe it!

  4. Mark says:

I was the fan that actually did the heckling at the KC Wizards game. The press got the story all wrong. The fan Beckham shook hands with was the not one heckling him. I still can’t believe we got that reaction out of him with a ten year old chant against Posh.

I wonder what the man was saying about Victoria. It’s nice to him to defend her honor.

I was also at the game and agree the press got it all wrong and blew it out of proportion. There where a small group of Galaxy fans that did boo but the vast majority of the crowd cheered for him.

It’s not like this is new. World cup ’98 v Argentina anyone?

  8. cor says:

meh.. maybe he’s trying to get himself kicked out of Galaxy? Would make sense if he’s determined to go to Milan anyway..

Lol, you obviously haven’t followed his career too in depth since his football beginnings…he’s ALWAYS had this kind of impulse control problem on the pitch. Quite often (and famously) getting booked and/or sent off for retaliating against opponents, being impetuous all the time, showing his middle finger to fans that taunted him, having various little spats with abusive fans, taunting them with gestures etc on scoring or whatever. He’s always been a bit of a livewire on the pitch if he gets riled up.

He has kind of calmed ove rht eyars too, he used to be much worse!

Not that it matters a whole bunch, but the match was in Kansas City, Kansas not Missouri. I was at the game and that guy was on the opposite side of the field from where the chants were coming from so no one really knew what was going on, we just saw a slight pause when Beckham was supposed to throw the ball in and instead went over to gab and shake the guys hand… during the game… time was running… seemed odd.

dont know why he even went over to america to play football in the first place.

thats lk the last thing a self respecting eurpoean baller shld do.

snorts. he got too caught up in the fame game.
