Confirmed! David & Courteney Cox-Arquette Have Signed On For ‘Scream 4’
Woot!! Great news for fans of the Scream movie franchise! Altho we learned a few weeks ago that Neve Campbell would NOT be appearing in a proposed 4th movie in the series, E! News’s Marc Malkin is reporting that married couple David and Courteney Cox-Arquette have signed on to reprise their roles in the film!! It looks like Scream 4 is now officially on again:
It’s official! David Arquette and Courteney Cox have signed on to reunite with the Ghostface killer. “We are going to be doing Scream 4,” Arquette just told me from New York City, where he’s hanging out in plastic box over Madison Square Garden for Feeding America (more on that later). “Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct.” In the original horror trilogy, Arquette played Deputy Dewey Riley with Cox as a tabloid television reporter Gale Weathers. Rumors began several months ago that the two were in talks for the fourth installment. “I fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring [Dewey] back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it’s just going to be really fun,” Arquette said. “It’s just great.” While Williamson recently revealed that Neve Campbell has turned down the chance to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott, Arquette said, “I hope Neve does it. I really hope so.” As for a new storyline, Arquette laughed: “Kevin has sort of put out the broad strokes, but I don’t think I’m at liberty to share any of that.”
OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! I LOVE the Scream series! While I have some worry that they may be beating a dead horse with another film, I’m relieved that Kevin Williamson will write and perhaps Wes Craven will direct. Having the Cox-Arquettes on board bodes very well for the film. I love that David and Courteney fell in love while making the Scream movies together … I’m sure this return to the franchise will be really fun for them. Neve Campbell better get her shizz straight and sign on to come back. Hopefully she’s just playing hardball and is workin’ on a big payday. Whatevs, they just need to get her back. This is great news!!! Who else is excited? Woot!!

Going to be so fun! I LOVED the scream movies, they make my day brighter :) I would love if neve would come back but i guess well see!

My husband was playing 1 vs 100 (on his xbox 360) and they asked who played Sidney Prescott – someone, Neve Cambell or Courtney Cox. He answered Courtney Cox before asking me and then I told him – NO, Neve Campball but it was already too late. He was like “How do you remember their names in the movie?” LOL, I was like “It scared me when I was, like, 12! ‘Hello Sid.NEY!” Yeah. Yay Courtney Cox!

I’m actually really excited about this. I love the scream trilogy. I think that Neve should come back and be killed in this one. (nothing personal, I just think it would be a great ending for the(hopefully) last film) Who do you think should play the villian in this one?

am i the only one who thinks a fourth film is a terrible idea? i’ve seen the trilogy, and i LOOOOOVE the first scream, but each movie has gotten worse and worse. and the killers make less and less sense. there really is no need for a fourth installment.

Yeah, Neve really needs to do this, I mean, what is she so busy with otherwise? Maybe she doesn’t desire an acting career anymore, but if she does, she needs to get her butt out there because this will probably be a fun project and possibly give her career a much needed second wind…

neve is actually doing a series on NBC right now called The Philanthropist….I don’t blame her for wanting to move on. A 4th isnt really necessary. It was a TRILOGY! And it was a trilogy I loved! I don’t want to see it ruined with a random 4th movie. What is it….American Pie?

I think this’ll be pretty good – there’s nothing like a Scream scare-fest. I watched the first one the other day – so good, I laugh all the way through it now but I remember when I was a kid I thought it was SOOO scary! I also thought Sidney’s boyfriend was really hot – even at the end!
