Cobra Commander Makes An Appearance In A New ‘G.I. Joe’ Movie Trailer
Back in February we got our FIRST LOOK at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in costume for his role as The Doctor in the upcoming Summer blockbuster film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. In the film, Gordon-Levitt’s character The Doctor eventually becomes Cobra Commander … and his appearance has been kept top secret leading up to the release of the film. But, with only a few weeks until the film opens in theaters, it is time to get more acquainted with The Doctor. Here are a few screencaps (and promo pics) from the Japanese trailer for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra:
I would say about 95% of the Japanese trailer contains footage that we’ve seen in the other trailers that have been released here in the US but this one includes the extra scene of The Doctor standing next to James McCullen (Destro) in the first few seconds of the video. As I said, for the most part we’ve already seen all of the footage … but the inclusion of JGL’s character is new and very exciting. I still have high hopes that this movie will be fun. I’m dying to see how they show the evolution of The Doctor into Cobra Commander and I can’t wait to see Destro get his shiny metal head :)

I am excited for this but I have a feeling it is going to be super cheesy. I don’t really have a problem with that but I guess I will wait and see.

I think it is a bad sign when people call a movie cheesy even before it’s release. I too get the impression it’s going to be a tad painful to sit through even if it does have some cool parts.

I have to agree as well that this movie does seem cheesy and I’m not sure if i’ll go see it at the movies. I’m going to wait and see what everybody says about it 1st.

It’s a cartoon from the 80’s, a simpler time, how could someone who grew up in the 80’s NOT be excited?

If you’re going to do a review/write up/etc, you might want to do better research and find out who all the actors are: Destro is played by Christopher Eccleston not James McCullen. And Eccleston is probably better known for his role as Dr. Who for one season

@Jill — James McCullen is Eccelston’s character name. McCullen becomes Destro, one of Cobra Commander’s main henchmen. If you’re going to criticize someone, make sure you do better research first :)

my bad Trent. Im a fan of Ecclestons since his Dr Who days & the way you had it down looked to me as if you were saying James was the actor and Destro the character. (havent seen the cartoon or movie so I wasnt aware he had 2 names) Plus, I looked at imdb & they only had Destro’s name listed as his character. And I wasnt trying to critize but clarify. Two different things
