Chris Brown FINALLY Apologizes For Assaulting Rihanna
"I wish I had the chance to live those few moments again"

Chris Brown has released a short video today addressing his fans and offering up his apologies for his assault on his ex-girlfriend Rihanna back in February. As y’all should know by now, Brown worked out a plea agreement where he will serve out a sentence of probation instead of going to prison for physically assaulting Rihanna. This new video is meant for Chris to talk directly to fans and apologize for his criminal behavior:

The video really speaks for itself. He reveals that he wanted to apologize sooner but decided not to on the advice of his lawyers. While I’m impressed that he does not offer any excuses for his criminal actions, he is still on my shitlist. I don’t know that I will ever be able to see Chris Brown the way I used to see him before this incident but, at the very least, he is finally offering up the apology that many people have been waiting for for some time. After the jump, check out the video in full and judge for yourselves if this mea culpa is good enough …

This might be the first sign that the kid is actually growing up and taking responsibility. Are YOU impressed?

He might as well not even have done this. It’s f’n July. I’m over you, Chris Brown. I refuse to “run it” “forever” out on the dance floor.

    @ Kristy

Absolutely wrong. Violence against women is EVERYONEs business. You can forgive someone for such inhumanity but it doesn’t mean they won’t repeat their actions. Do some reading and research on the topic. Statistics will tell you that it’s not about being closed minded. Don’t be surprised if news surfaces and reveals he has always hit Rihanna or has been abusive in some other way. I have been working with women survivors of abuse for years. The stories are the same, over and over again. Unfortunately, people don’t really change because of a few classes. Most of those are court mandated.

  3. Maria says:

I think Chris Brown never intended to apologize and thought he was going to get away with whatever slap on the wrist he got. Now he is seeing and feeling the reprecussions of what he did so he decided that he should be sorry after all.

  4. B says:

I hope he is shunned by the industry like the Amish on caffeine!!! Shun that sonofabitch!!!

  5. Tracy says:

I hope this asshat never makes another dime. He BIT her! Like a damn animal! I think that’s something you can never be forgiven for. Real men have self control.

  6. _M_ says:

Eh. Just get back to the music and dancing. I could care less about his personal life.

  7. Bethany says:

I appreciate that he apologized and I do believe that he is sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be able to think about him the same way ever. Most radio stations in my area are still boycotting him and I still feel weird when I hear one of his songs…such a shame, he is so talented and potentially had a long career ahead of him :-(

  8. Grace says:

The person who actually deserves an apology, like the groveling on hands and knees kind, and not reading from a teleprompter so people will keep buying his albums kind, is Rihanna. Period.

Kristy, you are kind of an idiot. Second period.

  9. K says:

If he is truly a responsible man, he would have made the apology sooner and fulfilled the prison sentence instead of working out a plea to save his ass.

  10. K says:

Of course, real men don’t disrespect women and abuse them. Period.

  11. Jennifer says:

yeah….he’s definitely still on my shit list….didn’t really seem like a sincere apology to me so much as something his mom wrote for him to read on a teleprompter

  12. Avey says:

At the VERY least it’s good that he has issued an apology but that was the biggest load of BS ever…

He may have been nervous and really wanted to cover all points but did he have to read off cue cards/ tele-prompter?!! It was so disingenuous!!! I don’t buy it at all!

It is disgusting what he did and his apology could have been more heart felt but quite clearly he only cares about saving his career

  13. Andrea says:

I don’t care how much he apologizes, you don’t hit a girl, man! I will never listen to his music again, and if I hear him on the radio I will change the station.

  14. RR says:

    That’s what they all say…

As a victim of abuse myself, I cannot forgive what he did and what he put her through. An apology certainly won’t take away the scar she will have forever. And I can’t help but feel he only cares from a monetary stand point. I will not nor will I let my four children listen to his music or have anything to do with Chris Brown. Sorry but that picture of Rhianna face will never leave my mind and his face for me has been forever changed…

  15. Shellie says:

@Kristy – and I quote you “.Let me move on and try and correct the mistake he made”

let ME move on, you say? Dear Chris, are youpaying us a visit under an assumed name? You are the only person here backing up the boy..

  16. Jazz says:

This is too late. Real men don’t hit women. Ever.

  17. Tech says:

This incident is going to haunt Chris Brown for the rest of his career.

  18. 2little says:

@Krissy: Beat her within an inch of her life??? Exaggerate much??? Forgive him or not. Don’t make shizz up.

  19. Chivonne says:

You know I loved him so much. He was so talented. I have nothing left for him. Apology not accepted.

  20. Smoo says:

OH PLEASE. HOW OBVIOUS IS IT THAT HE IS READING IT OFF A TelePrompTer. I HOPE SOMEBODY RUNS HIM OVER, PIECE OF SHIT, SCUMBAG. HOW DARE YOU ABUSE ANYBODY LIKE THAT. BURN BITCH.
