Candy Spelling Pens Another Open Letter To Daughter Tori Spelling
Latest 'Letter of Truth' published on TMZ

Candy Spelling, that lovable matriarch that seemingly puts Joan Crawford to shame as Mommie Dearest, has penned another open letter (or Letter of Truth, if you will) to her only daughter Tori Spelling and sent it off to TMZ so that it can be read by the entire world wide web. As you may recall, Candy reached out to Tori with an open letter earlier this year in the hopes that mother and daughter could bury the hatchet and end their feud … an offer that Tori brutally (and publicly) rebuffed. In retaliation, Candy gave a very public interview that blamed Tori for her father Aaron Spelling‘s death (which, IMHO, is the lowest of the low). It seems that Candy was inspired to pen another letter after learning that Tori‘s reality TV series Tori & Dean: Home, Sweet, Hollywood will feature a season finale that attempts to show the world how daughter reached out to mother to attend granddaughter’s first birthday and, after initially agreeing to attend, grandmother eventually refused (you may recall, the party took place last month and we learned then that Candy refused to attend, presumably because she didn’t want to appear on the TV show). Before that episode airs on Tuesday, Candy felt it necessary to make the preemptive strike. Here is the full text of Candy‘s latest open letter to Tori:

TO: MIDDLE-AGED REALITY SHOW STARS (LIKE MY DAUGHTER)
FROM: CANDY SPELLING

I Know many middle-aged people have issues about their parents and their upbringing. I did. My memories didn’t match all those of my mother, and, funny thing, it’s the same way with my daughter.

Life has consequences. What you say is on the record. Other people have feelings.

I have a vested interest in this subject. My daughter, Tori’s, two-part season finale revolves around my granddaughter’s first birthday party and how she has made what seems like an agonizing decision to invite me.

Cue music. Cue sideways glaces. Clue Lights.

I did get an invitation just in time for the RSVP deadline. I’m sure its delivery will be on next week’s episode with some comment about my house or driveway or street or something they won’t like. I wonder if that will be spread out over one part or two. Sigh.

A big party wasn’t how I envisioned meeting my granddaughter for the first time; but, hey, this is Hollywood, and my grandchildren have become reality show props, too. At the time I emailed “yes,” I didn’t realize I was being set up for a two-parter, even though it was clear I was being invited to be part of a segment for my daughter’s reality show.

Spoiler alert. Don’t read this if you plan to sit through an hour of people looking at their watches and saying “she’s late.” I decided my first meeting with my granddaughter should be on home video, not primetime cable; so I emailed that i would not be attending.

Back to other reality stars. My husband taught me that the plots have to be fresh and updated. The same old whining gets tired after a while. Enough complaining about what may or may not have happened during first grade or YMCA camp, or what vegetable you were forced to endure, especially when you are privileged enough to be on TV and get paid for it.

For all the reality show personalities, please remember that real life doesn’t get edited to make things better or worse or get better ratings. You’re responsible for what you do. Life isn’t just a show. And your families can’t just be props. Make your own season finale without creating conflicts you will regret later.

Um … Cue music. Cue sideways glaces. Clue Lights. Candy Spelling is a heinous beyotch. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s idiotic for Tori Spelling to try and still exploit her public feud with her mother in order to get higher ratings for her TV show (because, honestly, that’s exactly that she’s doing) but for a mother to continue to publicly abuse her child (both mentally and emotionally) that has to be the most disgusting thing ever. Clearly Tori is trying to embarrass her mother by showing how cold-hearted she is (by not attending her only granddaughter’s first birthday) but Candy is going out of the way to show EXACTLY what a cold-hearted beyotch she really is by not only attending but making such a public spectacle of the whole situation. This has to be the saddest thing ever. Some fault does lie with Tori Spelling but, in the end, Candy Spelling — in her old, wizened age — should be the grown-up here. After all, Tori is the product of Candy‘s parenting … a job that Candy clearly was never, ever qualified for. At least poor Aaron Spelling isn’t alive to bear witness to these sad and seemingly on-going events.

I just find the whole thing ridiculous after Candy made the comment about Tori killing her father though I have no respect for that woman, there are some things that should never be said even if you are in a fit of rage and that is one of them.

  2. Tracy says:

Candy Spelling really is Mommy Dearest. She is disgusting. If I were Tori, I wouldn’t let her have ANYTHING to do with my children.

  3. Jenn says:

hells bells! isnt tori like barely 35? that chick is not middle aged!

cant we expect nothing less from the spellings though? they dont do a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g that is not public.

  4. j says:

I agree with you, Trent, I think Candy Spelling is most likely a heinous bitch. I’m sure she was every bit of the crappy mother Tori says she was. But I think that is all the more reason for Tori to be the bigger person! I really am a Tori fan, not just a hater. I read both of her books and I watch her show and I really do like her. But it is really starting to get old the way she constantly plays up this feud with her mother. And if she really wants to be a different kind of person than Candy shouldn’t she want to step up and stop this public feuding? Watching the previews for her reality show it really does all seem very staged. The whole agonizing process of inviting her, them filming her friend dropping off the invite. I’m sure the episode will revolve around Tori nervously awaiting her mother’s arrival only to end up crying and lamenting the fact that she always holds out hope with her mother only to be disappointed. I just think the apple must not fall too far from the tree if she’s turning personal family issues into public entertainment.

EXCELLENT point about the parenting. freaky parenting hardwires us for ‘issues’ later in life. its pretty basic stuff.

  6. SuziLee says:

OMFG wow Trent you nailed it – she is a totally heinous b-yotch!!!! DAMN!!
I had read that they agreed then to not film her at the party, and yet she still didn’t show. She created more drama for them by not showing up than it would’ve been had she shown up. I think she’s a selfish jealous witch who will grow old lonely and alone. Cue music…cue sideways glance….LOL oh and a little “no more wire hangers” thrown in there” Ha!!

While I do think Candy’s behavior is abhorrent, I don’t think we can ignore what she said about families being used as props. This episode sounds like it was crafted for the purpose of making Candy look bad. Deep in the recesses of Tori’s publicity seeking mind, she had to know that her mother wasn’t going to show up! I think it was devious and mean-spirited. And Candy, your “open letters” only bring more publicity to your daughter’s show!

  8. Lisa says:

Unfortunately I know what Tori is going through, maybe not on her level, but non the less parents that are similar to Candy. The best thing she could ever do is cut the ties. It isn’t an easy thing to do and yes it hurts, but in the end for your own mental health is for the best.
Tori has made a beautiful family for herself with the people she chose. Her husband Dean, her children, Patsy, and the friends she surrounds herself with. Those people are now her true family. Candy is the just the person who gave birth to her.
The sooner she realizes and deals with that the better off everyone will be.

  9. Melinda says:

I happen to like Tori but I do not like this whole public drama of their private problems. Seriously……Candy was most likely not a good mother, that is clear…….Tori has her memories and whether or not they are accurate, only mother and daughter know for sure. What they both need to do is GROW UP and stop acting like angry babies……….Liam and Stella should NOT have to grow up in this type of an environment that is hostile and PUBLIC!! I happen to be good friends with someone who knows Tori…….don’t believe all you see on the show……it is highly edited and not spontaneous…….that’s all I am saying. Tori is a good young woman……..but years of growing up with her mother the way she is had made an insecure woman who allows others to still control her. Both need to figure out a way to fix this…….

  10. Kristin says:

Candy literally makes my stomach turn. She accuses Tori of being a media whore on a regular basis. Hello Pot, meet Kettle.
Oh and a true parent and grandparent would not say and do the things that she does on a regular basis. If her heart was in the right place, she would meet her granddaughter during a show being filmed or during a live play performance. It shouldn’t matter. Obviously, THEY (kids and grandkids) don’t matter to her much.

Someone needs to punch that grandtard out.

  11. SuziLee says:

    @Kristin – grandtard! priceless!!!

  12. Lisa. says:

Heinous beyotch is exactly what she is. How can you be so cold hearted to your own daughter? I just don’t get it.

  13. LOVE G says:

i agree with you! That CANDY Spelling is a HEINOUS beyOtch! i still can’t get over her low blow to TORI accusing her to be the reason Aaron died. That is sad sad sad. No mother should ever say that.

  14. Janelle says:

    To: Spelling Women
    From: Disgusted reader
Ms. Candy Spelling, if “Life isn’t a show”, then don’t make it PUBLIC, you self-absorbed narcissist. And Tori, you’re not as bad as her, but using her as part of a reality show plot is something she WOULD do.

  15. Rachel M says:

What the hell??? I was willing to sit this one out and not make a public comment but the “middle age” thing really got me, considering I’m only 3 years younger. When the hell did 36 become middle age??? Wikipedia has this to say “According to Collins Dictionary, this is “… usually considered to occur approximately between the ages of 40 and 60″.

What a mean way to start a letter! Seriously Hollywood needs to visit Candy for the next Mean Girls script.

  16. kate says:

Candy pretty much is a narcissitic bitch who will run over her children to try to protect her own image – while the whole time not even seeing that she herself is destroying peoples opinion of her. If I had Candy as a mother I’d probably be looking for love wherever I could find it too – including a reality television show. We give Tori more love than her mother ever did.

  17. B says:

You know, if Tori ever comes across as a little nutty or as someone who maybe makes some odd decisions, you don’t have to look very far to know WHY. Candy Spelling is a complete waste of oxygen!! What a bitch! And 36 isn’t middle aged….she was clearly trying to go for the jugular. Wow. How did Tori survive growing up in that household?!

Sounds like Mommy is a lot jealous of her daughter and couldn’t really show it until Daddy died. wow.

  18. sara says:

Candy Spelling sure seems like such a wonderful and loving mom. NOT!

  19. Dave says:

I guess Tori didn’t have to go out of her way to make her mother look like a cold-hearted Bitch. Clearly, Candy can do that on her own. Candy has a few valid points (about using “children as reality show props”), but she renders them worthless by talking about it in public.

  20. Paranel says:

I hope Tori does not dignify this with a comment. The woman clearly needs help. And for the record, if Tory is middle age, then what that makes you? Ancient ? You got to be ashamed of yourself. You are just green with envy that Tori is doing well on her own and you couldn’t control her by cutting her off the Spelling’s fortune( which she was entitled to anyway ) . Get over it lady , she has moved on and doing fine. Go get a life. Leave her alone.
