Backstreet Boys Are Makin’ A Comeback
Backstreet's Back ... alright?

So … I’m not sure if y’all are ready for a boyband resurgence but one of the most successful boybands of all time (no, not *NSync) are making a comeback this Fall with a new album, a new tour and an attempt at that old magic formula that made them stars in the first place. Backstreet BoysNick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and A. J. McLean — have announced that they will be releasing a new 11-track album titled This is Us on October 6 with a world tour to follow. Are y’all ready, cuz here they come ready or not:

From the press release: Backstreet Boys are very proud to announce the release of their new album, THIS IS US. Set for an October 6th release on Jive Records, THIS IS US is the seventh studio album from this groundbreaking and chart topping group that redefined the modern musical landscape, ushering in a chapter of pop culture that commandeered the world’s radio airwaves, broke music and concert sales records, and launched a new generation of teen idols. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean collaborated with a powerhouse suite of producers and songwriters on THIS IS US that included T-Pain, Max Martin, RedOne, Soulshock and Karlin, Jim Jonsin and Claude Kelly. The end result is an indelible and finely crafted R&B and pop album from four talented musicians who love what they do and who maintain the rare relevance in an industry that often disposes of pop acts. The 11 songs that make up THIS IS US are the sounds of four skilled singers with a similar vision, who have dealt with the trials and tribulations that accompany fame at an early age and who came out as one of the most successful groups of all time. From the undeniable dance floor ready lead single, “Straight Through My Heart” to the reflective soar of “Bigger,” from the hook crazy “Bye Bye Love” to the romantic yearning of “She’s A Dream,” THIS IS US shows remarkable growth as songwriters and continues to give us songs that has made millions smile. “We’re really excited to release this new album and know that our fans are excited too. We worked with a group of amazing artists and producers that we’ve never worked with before, exploring new sounds and territory and know the final product turned out incredible” says Carter. Backstreet Boys plan on spending the second half of 2009 and all of 2010 on the road. A European tour has already been announced and a full North American headlining tour will be announced shortly. Tour dates can be found on the group’s official website www.backstreetboys.com. Over the last 12 years, the Backstreet Boys have sold more than 76 million albums worldwide, have scored a dozen Top 40 hits and charted in the Top Ten in nearly every country making them one of the most successful groups of all time.

Just about 10 years after they conquered the PLANET, BSB are back again. I know there has been much talk in recent years about the return of *NSync (BSB‘s #1 competitors) but I haven’t heard any chatter about the return of BSB. The world of pop music is pretty different now than it was back in the boyband hey day but I suppose it’s possible that the boys, er, men could have another hit … mebbe two. After the jump, check out a few promo photos of the Backstreets working on their new album in the studio …

The first single, Straight Through My Heart, can be streamed in full on the official BSB website and/or official My Space & Facebook pages … they’ve also got an official Twitter profile as well. Heart has that BSB sound to it, sure to inspire and wake up the screaming teens slumbering inside all their old fans … which means it’s bound to be a hit on the Adult Contemporary charts ;) Now that BSB is back, mebbe *NSync will follow suit … and the battle of the boy manbands can get started up again! Wouldn’t that be fun? OK, fess up … how many of y’all are excited?

    Hey.

I’m ready for this album but it certainly isn’t a comeback. The boys have had more album releases then this upcoming release. “Never Gone” and “Unbreakable” were released in the past few years and had amazing hits on them that should have made the radio! A few of them did, of course, but I was hoping for more.

I’ve been to every concert in Toronto that the boys have had since their “Black and Blue” world tour and I am stooooked for the tour to follow this album.

I love the Backsreet Boys. They will never ever ever ever die! I’m probably the biggest most unashamed fan out there bahaha.

Give their new single a listen, too. It’s called “Straight Through My Heart” and let me tell you…it’s good ;) really good!

Trent, just wanted to thank you for punctuating *N Sync correctly. :)

I’M SO EXCITED!!! :) I love them so much! :):):) KTBPA!!

    HOHHOHOHOHHOMY GAWDDDDDDDDDDD.

I love them so much, I went to their concert once, and I was on the front row and I got to hold Howie’s hand… oooh and Kevin’s abs! And their voices are out of this world… SOOOOOOO great! They are seriously the best boyband, or should we say, a music group. They sing really well!

    Gah, I LOVE THEM.

  5. J says:

Nsync do suck! They are pretty much only popular in the US. Nowhere else. Backstreet Boys actually conquered the WORLD! Where as Nsync just did the US.

People know of Nsync only cause of Justin, but yeah, Backstreet Boys are the, Kings of Boy Bands? Haha.

I wouldn’t necessarily call this a comeback neither. Just another album since their ’05 comeback. I mean there last album went head to head with Britneys Blackout & Blackout was a magnificent album (her best if you ain’t heard it ALL) but it didn’t perform that well overall. And lets say, Blackout beat BSB in first week sales so judging by Blackouts performance, you will probably know now how BSB’s last album sold.

  8. B says:

It’s funny how all the former boy bands are coming back together after Take That’s (not popular here but HUGE everywhere else in the world) phenomenal success.

  9. Lola says:

I agree that this isn’t a comeback, BSB never left. I saw them in concert just last year and they rocked it. I’ve been a fan since the beginning and I’m SO excited for the new album. I’m listening to Straight Through My Heart right now and I’m loving it!

  10. ally says:

BSB never left! I went to their concert last Dec. and it was SO much fun! I’m loving their new single “Straight Through My Heart” I’ve had it on repeat for a few days now haha LOVE them!

    @Erica
it worked for take that,. but they had actually been broken up for years. they even did it w/out robbie williams. i wonder if nsync would be able to do w/out justin timberlake. good luck bsb.
