As I mentioned earlier, I was able to attend the Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers which taped here in SoCal last night and will air on Comedy Central on Sunday August 9. I’ve been invited to previous roasts but when I heard they were roasting Joan Rivers and that Kathy Griffin was hosting the roasting … well, I couldn’t pass it up:

To be completely honest, I was laughing too hard to take any pictures of the event. I was seated right smack dab in the middle of the room in prime position to see and hear everything. I was able to hang out with my friend Marc Malkin from E! News and we enjoyed the roast together. People, the jokes are really offensive and not for the PC of heart … but they are funny and, as is the tradition of roast jokes, wholly inappropriate. You’ve gotta tune in on August 9 to see and hear for yourselves. Watch THIS site for all the deets on the Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers.
The night was really fun … but I was most excited that David returned home from his weekend away. He jetted off to hang with some friends in Cleveland, OH and came home last night … it’s nice to have him back home where he belongs. Not sure what we’ve got planned for today but I’m thinkin’ I want to see a movie. We shall see.

Can’t wait to see this!! Why don’t you go see Orphan?? I think I am going this weekend.
I’m just wondering why it’s so hilarious when a group of people tell “grossly” racist jokes but when Miley Cyrus jokes around with her friends and makes asian eyes it’s offensive? I’m the last person to defend Miley Cyrus but it just seems awfully hypocritical considering the outrage you showed.
@Jeni — A comedy roast is an entirely different thing than a group of children expelling racist epithets. If you cannot understand the difference then I feel sorry for you.
No Trent, there is NO difference, NOT at all. I actually feel very sorry for you.
@Petunia — Thanks!!
COMEDY roasts are deep down about love for the roast-ee.
I am so jealous that you were there, Trent. was robin quivers funny??!
@bip — Robin was pretty funny, totally dirty … but she took a lot of hits from the other roasters as well. As the sole African American on the dais, well, you can imagine the things they said about her! oy!!
Trent- how do you get to know and go to all these cool events? Do you have a job – how do you make $?
@Nikki — I do have a job, you’re reading it :) I feel very lucky to get invited to so many cool events.
I enjoy roasts. and I enjoy dirty jokes and mean jokes. But I don’t enjoy the racist and homophobic jokes. jokes about mario cantone blowing everyone is one thing. (it’s just as funny as jokes about Joan or Brad Garett blowing everyone.) but jokes equating being gay with having AIDS are not funny. Neither are jokes reinforcing harmful racist stereotypes. I get the purpose of a roast, to be mean, while still showing love. But that can be done without giving racist pricks joke fodder to share with their friends for months to come.
