‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ Releases A Teaser Poster
Plus, a Pink reader share's a personal pic from the movie set

Yesterday we got our first look at the new Freddy Krueger (played by Jackie Earle Haley) in the redux of the hit slasher horror flick A Nightmare On Elm Street and today we get to check out the first teaser poster for the film:

Much like the first promo pic from Nightmare that we saw yesterday, the fact that Freddy‘s face is totally obscured adds to the creepiness. I’m cautiously optimistic that this redux will be cool … I have much faith that Jackie Earle Haley will make a great Freddy Krueger (after all, he was amazing as Rorschach in Watchmen). I can’t wait to see video footage of him in action.

Additionally, Pink reader Erin sends in a photo of her high school Elk Grove in Illinois which was used as the fictional Springwood High School in the movie:

She writes: I’ve included a picture of what it normally looks like. It’s called Elk Grove High School in Illinois. Just outside of Chicago. The second picture shows they changed it to Springwood high school.

So cool … I’m sure the folks in this community (well, the younger members of the community) are geeked that the new version of A Nightmare On Elm Street was filmed in their town. Now that Comic-Con in San Diego, CA is in full swing we should be hearing a lot more about this film very soon. So far … I like what I see.

I will give it a shot. I am a huge fan of the whole series even thou some of them sucked (the last one in 3D). I love the 3rd one “Dream Warriors” the best. I will have an open mind and really hope it wows me. If it falls short then a whole generation might not be interested in seeing the original!!

Even though I’m a HUGE chicken when it comes to scary movies, I always liked the Nightmare on Elm Street movies for some reason..I guess because Freddie is actually kind of funny..But with the way that horror movies are going right now with a lot more gore and violence, I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle this one! I’m super excited about it, though! Maybe I’ll just have a few drinkies before I see it.. ;)

Why are they remaking all these movies that are like less than 30 years old?! I remember all these Nightmare movies like they were yesterday and I am only 34 years old. It seems like Hollywood has really run out of new ideas.
This might be cool in like another 25 years but I think it’s too soon. Same for Footlose and Fame. Hollywood needs some new ideas.

I used to drive by that place every day on my way to work. I can’t believe it was filming so close and I had no idea! Shame on me!!

  6. Isabella says:

Ahh! Practically my whole family went to Elk Grove High School! That’s nuts!

(oh, and totally not excited about the remake. It will be undoubtedly more gory, as the remakes often are – i HATE gory films – and parts of the original film STILL freak me out!)

Craaaap. I keep saying, no Englund, no Freddy. But I love me some Jackie.

I am a HUGE Freddy fan, I have the “Nightmare” boxed set and even dressed as Freddy for Halloween last year (sadly, I have pics to prove it, lol). Naturally, I was heartbroken when they announced a remake. But since Mr. Haley (btw, Rorschach was the only true hero in Watchmen) is in the lead role, I have to support it. I wonder if they would give Robert Englund a dayplayer role, just to see him in it would show his support and make me feel like the torch is being passed rather than taken.

I wish I had known they were shooting this in Elk Grove because then I would have driven by to see if I could see anything since I only live a few towns away.

    omg

I was born in Elk Grove!!! I was suppose to go there, alas I had to move.

    damn
