Fresh out of the hospital, Mischa gets back on track
Mischa Barton Flies To NYC, Gets Back To Work

Two weeks ago we learned that Mischa Barton, former star of The OC and current star of the upcoming CW series The Beautiful Life, was involuntarily admitted to the psychiatric hospital under medical Code 5150 after it was determined that her dangerous behavior made her a threat to her own health and safety. Since that time, Mischa has been well out of the spotlight, presumably getting her life back in order so that she can be released back into the public again. In fact, we learned earlier this week that Mischa was finally released from the hospital … and today we see photos of the troubled young actress making her arrival in NYC where she is scheduled to begin work on her new TV series … behold:

After spending time hospitalized, Mischa Barton re-appeared for the first time on Tuesday at LAX, where she’s headed to New York City to begin work on her new television show, The Beautiful Life. Mischa arrived at LAX just after 12 noon on Tuesday. The actress, 23, was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center days ago, where she was being held under an involuntary psychiatric hold. A source told RadarOnline.com that Mischa is currently under the care of good friend Nicole Richie, who has stepped up to help the troubled starlet turn her life around. A CW spokesman for the show, which stars Barton as a pill-popping supermodel, said last week that production was scheduled to begin on Friday. Earlier this month police officers were called to the 23-year-old actress’s Los Angeles home to deal with a “medical issue”.

While it is really great to see Mischa up, around and back in public circulation … I have to say that I think it might be a bit too soon for her to be going back to work on a TV show. She was practically dragged away to the mental ward a couple of weeks ago and here she is, ready to plunge back into the high-pressure world of Hollywood again. It’s no secret that Mischa has had much difficulty keeping her sobriety in check and her recent breakdown is but the latest proof that she may not be equipped to handle the rigors of fame … and yet, her TV bosses think she is just fine enough to get back into the mix the same week she gets released from the psychiatric ward. I hope she really is OK, for her own sake. It would be such a tragedy if she suffers another dangerous breakdown so soon after her last one.

The Comeback that Never Was
Michael Jackson Does ‘Rolling Stone’ Magazine

The late Michael Jackson, who passed away a little over a month ago now, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine — not as a tribute issue, which was already released at the start of this month, but as a regular coverstory chronicling the last days of the King of Pop‘s life … including the comeback he never got the chance to complete. Here is MJ‘s coverphoto of the new issue of RS mag:

In the days just before his death, Michael Jackson was working harder than he ever had in hopes of staging “the greatest show on Earth” according to our latest cover story. Claire Hoffman retraced the pop icon’s final moments for “The Last Days of Michael Jackson” in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, and found that Jackson was well aware of how the public came to perceive him in recent years and that he had fully dedicated himself to a comeback tour that he hoped would erase that perception. “He wanted people to see his work and not just talk about his lifestyle,” AEG CEO Randy Phillips tells Hoffman in her cover story. He was also eager to finally clean up his finances and settle down in Las Vegas. “He was ready to stop living like a vagabond and settle down and earn money again,” Phillips tells Rolling Stone. And those who were inside his final rehearsals say that the show he was prepared to mount may have actually succeeded on all fronts. “He was so brilliant on stage,” tour director Kenny Ortega tells Hoffman. “I had goose bumps.” “I turned to somebody and said, ‘This is amazing,’” adds Ken Ehrlich, the longtime Grammy Awards producer who sat in on rehearsals. “For so many years I have watched Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake and Usher and the Backstreet Boys and En Vogue all imitate Michael Jackson — and now here we were this many years later, and he was going to do it again. I got chills, literally. The hairs on the back of my neck were raised. Those are the moments you hope for.”

At this point, what hasn’t already been said about the “comeback that never was”? From what I’ve gathered from this new Rolling Stone piece, there really isn’t anything new that we haven’t heard already … still, RS has a great tradition of music journalism and I’m sure MJ fans will be happy to read any stories on the late King of Pop. To be honest, I’m much more interested in finding out the results of MJ‘s autopsy/toxicolgy reports — which are supposedly due for release this week. We may definitively know, very soon, what exactly was the cause of MJ‘s death. Until then, tho, we wait. After the jump, check out a short video from Rolling Stone that features Claire Hoffman, the author of this MJ coverstory, talking about her article and explaining what is in store for readers — be warned, the video autoplays …

The lengths Bale is willing to go thru for a movie role
Christian Bale: From Hottie To CRACK HEAD

Filming continues this week on the NYC set of the new film The Fighter, which stars Christian Bale as an ex-training coach turned crack user and Marky Mark Wahlberg as an up-and-coming fighter, as new scary photos from the set continue to come out. The latest pics of Christian Bale are really very horrifying to look at … especially in comparison to how amazingly hot the man looks usually … like, for example, the way he looked in his role as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho:

Say what you will about the man’s acting abilities (after all, he wasn’t all that great in Terminator: Salvation and was only marginally improved in Public Enemies … and don’t get me started on that voice he uses in the Batman films), he really outdoes himself physically when he prepares for a role. Christian Bale looks like a bona fide crack head in this new photo:

Yikes doesn’t even seem to encapsulate my feelings on this photo. I can deffo appreciate the mans commitment to his craft but I’m very much looking forward to the wrap of this movie so that Bale can go back to lookin’ hawt again. Yeesh.

Rachelle Lefevre gets the boot, Bryce is the new vamp Victoria
Bryce Dallas Howard Joins The Cast Of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’

Surprising movie casting news for fans of the Twilight Saga films to pass along today … for some unknown reason, it has been decided by the powers that be at Summit Entertainment that Rachelle Lefevre be FIRED and Bryce Dallas Howard be hired in her place to play the role of the evil vampire Victoria in the third Twilight movie The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The surprise casting news comes completely out of the blue, but straight from the horse’s mouth. Rachelle is dunzo as Victoria, Bryce takes over the role when filming of Eclipse begins next month:

Bryce Dallas Howard is joining the “Twilight” franchise. The “Terminator Salvation” star will replace Rachelle Lefevre in the role of Victoria, according to Summit Entertainment, which produces the vampire film series based on the books by Stephenie Meyer. “We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions, said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “Rachelle brought ‘Victoria’ to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”

Summit said Rachelle would not be continuing on as Victoria, an evil vampire out for revenge over the death of her lover, due to scheduling conflicts. Bryce, the daughter of director Ron Howard, will take over the role beginning in “Eclipse,” the third installment in the “Twilight” series. “Eclipse” begins filming in Vancouver this coming August, Summit confirmed. The film will be released in theaters on June 30, 2010.

Whoa!! This is totally out of the blue … and without any real explanation. To me, it seems as if one of two things happened here … either Summit jumped at the chance of hiring a big name actress to add to the movie franchise (presumably to get more people interested in the Twilight phenomenon — as if that is even possible) or Rachelle did something to really piss off her bosses and she was summarily fired from the role. Mebbe both things happened (cuz I really DO NOT BELIEVE that Rachelle is not available for the role due to “scheduling conflicts” — that’s a bullshizz story if I ever heard one) … but my gut tells me that the studio decided to sign on a more well-known actress who prolly expressed interest and felt no qualms about axing the “no name” actress who originated the role. To be honest, I thought Rachelle Lefevre did an amazing job as Victoria in Twilight and it sucks that she would be treated so terribly by the studio. Still, this is Hollywood and these things happen all the time. I wonder if we should expect any other cast changes as well. What do y’all think about this … good news or bad?
