Taylor Momsen, who stars as Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl and apparently fronts a rock band called Pretty Reckless, played a show with her bandmates at the Hiro Ballroom in NYC, NY last night in celebration of her super sweet 16th birthday. I never knew that Taylor Momsen had any musical talent to speak of … and by the Courtney Loveness of the way she looked on stage last night, I’d say the jury is still out on her talents. But, she’s young, rich, famous and on a hit TV series … if she wants to play in a band, then she gets to play in a band. Paris Hilton, who is very fond of sheltering a vast menagerie of pets from various species of animal, has added a new addition to her collection … and then immediately threw it into a bag so she could show it off in public. Here are a couple pics of Paris’s new pussy … cat:

Without going into the fact that Paris Hilton prolly has way too many pets to take care of them all properly, I will say that this little kitty is really very cute. And, in all honesty, Paris looks pretty nice herself. I’m sure I have no idea what her pet count is up to these days but I do hope that she will take care of this little kitten in the manner it deserves to be treated. Well, I’ve got my fingers crossed at least.

While there has been much sadness in recent weeks with the loss of so many people, it’s nice to see that icons like Betty White are just going about their daily lives as spry and lively as ever. Here are a few new pictures of Britney Spears and her agent/paramour Jason Trawick taking her babies, Sean Preston and Jayden James, out for a coffee run here SoCal last night. Clearly Brit Brit is back from her most recent European jaunt where she was performing new shows for her tour The Circus starring Britney Spears. Britwick and the boys were spotted picking up some Starbucks drinks in Calabasas, CA last night:

Sooooo cute! The more I see Britney with Jason the more I like them together. He’s the perfect older hottie for her, I think. They look so happy together. Britney isn’t quite finished with all the hard work just yet. She has a whole new North American Tour to get thru and then a few dates to perform in Australia before she’s completely finished. And who knows, mebbe they’ll add more dates along the way? Homegirl has been working hard, y’all … she’s due for some rest and relaxation. It looks like she’s got the right guy to take care of her … which I love!! Long live Britwick!!

Awesome news for both fans of the band Garbage AND the Guitar Hero series of video games. Shirley Manson, frontwoman for Garbage, has been made into a digitized character and will appear in Guitar Hero 5. She is only the second female performer to get the Guitar Hero treatment. You may recall that just yesterday we saw video of Shirley surprising the No Doubt audience by coming out to do a surprise performance at the ND show here in LA on Monday night … and now we learn this amazing news?! Methinks we’re about to enjoy a Shirley Manson/Garbage resurgence very soon :) Here is our first look at what Shirley’s Guitar Hero character will look like:

Garbage’s Shirley Manson is set to feature as a playable character in the forthcoming ‘Guitar Hero 5′ computer game … “They did a scan of my face then I had to put on this weird suit, it was super-freaky,” the singer said of the process of appearing in the game … The game is expected to be released this autumn. Music by acts including Arctic Monkeys, Blur, Nirvana, The White Stripes and Coldplay is set to feature in it.

Holy effin’ shizz, y’all!! This is SO cool!!! I’ve been a huge Garbage fan from way back in the day and performing Garbage songs on Rock Band is one of my fave things ever (I rock on I Think I’m Paranoid) … now we’ll get to play with/as Shirley Manson in Guitar Hero 5? Spent a quiet night in last night … just putzed around the house and read. I’ve started reading the classic J.D. Salinger book The Cather in the Rye …

… mainly because I want to read the unauthorized book 60 Years Later: Coming through Rye by Swedish author John David California:

As you may or may not know, California’s book has been published in the UK but has been barred from publication here in the US due to copyright restrictions … it’s an unauthorized sequel to Catcher that Salinger (now 90 years old) himself is not happy with and sued to halt US publication. I managed to order a copy from Amazon UK but want to reread The Catcher in the Rye before tackling this forbidden sequel. It’s been AGES since I read Catcher so I figured I’d read it again before reading the unauthorized sequel. I had forgotten what a fun book it is. Did you know that in 1981, The Catcher in the Rye was both the most banned AND most taught book in the US? Reading is fundamental, y’all. Some friends and I are talking about starting a book club so I’ll be reading for that soon PLUS I’m really anxious to start re-reading the entire Harry Potter series again. I’ll be in full book worm mode, y’all.

Anyways … yeah, kept it quiet yesterday. No plans for today. Life is good ;)
