Lindsay Lohan Does ‘Vogue España’ Magazine

'La Nueva Marilyn'
Friday, July 17th, 2009

Back in May we saw photos of Lindsay Lohan on the SoCal set of a photoshoot for Spanish Vogue magazine. At the time, we got to see quite a few shots that were up for contention to be published in Vogue España as well as a few behind the scenes photos that would most deff not be included in the spread. Here is Lindsay’s coverphoto of Vogue España along with a portion of her coverstory article:

Yes, the article is in Spanish and I have NO IDEA what is says … but the cover of the magazine does refer to L. Lo as “la nueva Marilynthe new Marilyn Monroe and my guess is that is the tone of the article. Nonetheless, the accompanying photospread can be enjoyed by readers of any language. After the jump, check out Lindsay’s Vogue España magazine photospread …

Jennifer Lopez & Alex O’Loughlin Get To Work On ‘The Back-Up Plan’

On set chemistry
Friday, July 17th, 2009

When last we saw Jennifer Lopez on the set of her new film The Back-Up Plan here on the blog, she was in SoCal chillin’ in between takes with her kiddies … today we get to see pics from the NYC set of the film but this time, J. Lo is chillin’ with her on-screen hottie co-star Alex O’Loughlin … behold:

You may recognize O’Loughlin as the moody, broody vampire from the CBS series Moonlight and as the star of the upcoming new TV series Three Rivers. Clearly, homie acts in movies, too! I LOVED him in Moonlight and was very bummed when the show got axed after one season. I’m encouraged that CBS put him in a new series this Fall and that he will be co-starring with La Diva Latina J. Lo herself. They make a very good looking couple, don’t you think? I love the last two pics of J. Lo … she looks great.

Scarlett Johansson For Mango Fall/Winter 09/10

Penélope Cruz is out, ScarJo is in
Friday, July 17th, 2009

Earlier this year we learned that Mango spokesmodel Penélope Cruz was being replaced by Scarlett Johansson and today we get to see the first images released from the Mango Fall/Winter 09/10 ad campaign that feature their new spokesmodel … behold:

Ever since Mango first announced that Scarlett Johansson would be replacing Penelope Cruz for their Fall/Winter 2009 ad campaign, we have been dying to see what they had in store for us. And they did not disappoint! The sultry star, who is also the face of Dolce & Gabbana’s makeup line, sheds her ’50s glam for a punky ’80s feel for Mango’s new ads shot by famed photographer Mario Sorrenti in Los Angeles. Showing off her legs in short tight dresses complete with high heels, tousled hair and animal prints, Scarlett has never looked sexier.

Mango claims that their clothes are for the “young, urban woman” and when I think “young” and “urban” OF COURSE I think of Scarlett Johansson … but not really. Yeah … I dunno … she looks pretty in these photos but … Mango? Really? It all looks so … generic. I’m not all that impressed … but mebbe I’m missing something? Thoughts?

David Beckham & The LA Galaxy Defeat The NY Red Bulls

Galaxy 3 - Red Bulls 1
Friday, July 17th, 2009

Now that David Beckham is back in his blue and gold uniform of the LA Galaxy (and after facing some tough questions from some of his detractors earlier this week), Becks and the Galaxy got down to biz last night at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ where the Galaxy faced the New York Red Bulls in Becks’s first game back with his team since he jumped ship to join AC Milan in Italy earlier this year. The Galaxy handily defeated the Bulls by a score of 3-1 … which inspired Becks and teammate Landon Donovan (who has been very vocal about his criticism of Becks’s commitment to the Galaxy) to kiss and make up on the soccer field … well, hug and make up at least. Despite his superb play (or mebbe because of it), some of the game’s attendees were not too happy to see David Beckham on the field and were very vocal about their displeasure, too:

David Beckham has brushed aside the booing he was subjected to on his return to Major League Football in the United States where his commitment to the game has been questioned in recent months. “I’ve had a lot more boos before in games,” Beckham said after starting LA Galaxy’s 3-1 victory away to the New York Red Bulls. It was his first appearance for the club since he completed a six-month loan spell at AC Milan and missed the first 17 games of the US season. “It’s to be expected,” the 34-year-old midfielder said of the hostility from the supporters in the Giants Stadium in New York. At 23,000, the crowd was just over a third of that which attended his first game in America two years ago. “There were a lot of people highlighting that I might get booed, but I expected it,” Beckham said. “It’s sometimes nice to get them. It gives you some inspiration. When we played like we did, the boos start to go away in time.” Part of the controversy over Beckham has been stoked by comments from his team-mate – and Galaxy captain – Landon Donovan who has questioned the midfielder’s commitment and professionalism. Donovan, who shared a podium with Beckham after the match on Thursday evening, alluded to the controversy. “People are talking about soccer in this country,” he said. “Not always for the right reasons in the last few weeks, but they’re talking about it. There’s no right or wrong reason. It’s just good that people are thinking about soccer, talking about soccer, following soccer.” Galaxy coach Bruce Arena hailed Beckham’s return. “A few minutes ago I became a better coach with the addition of David Beckham,” the former US coach said. “He brings confidence to the team. He stepped right in and he has a good attitude. It’s not easy for him with the scrutiny.” Asked about the abuse, Arena said: “I would think he’s been booed before. I would think this is almost a pleasant environment for him to play in. He’s been in bigger venues, in bigger games and with more hostile conditions. He can cope with all that. “He’s really a great pro, very observant and really understood how to fit in and make the group better. David’s been through things like this literally hundreds of time. He didn’t need my coaching on that aspect. Given the issues, he had a great game.” Beckham’s next match – his first home game for the Galaxy since his return – is sold out. But then he is facing Milan who, like Chelsea, are on a pre-season tour to the US.

Congratulations goes out to the entire LA Galaxy team … altho I have my problems with the way that Becks has treated his teammates, I’m glad that they are able to come together and operate as a solid, winning unit. Here’s hoping they can keep playing well and continue to win games. I’m also glad that Becks continues to strip off his jersey at the end of his soccer games. After the jump, check out photos of a shirtless Becks celebrating the Galaxy win last night …

Rihanna Gets Scalped

New 'do
Friday, July 17th, 2009

In today’s newslinks, I mentioned that Rihanna got herself a new hair’do and after thinking about it for 0.00000003 seconds, I realized that her new ‘do looks a lot like someone else’s old ‘do (well, older ‘do). Here are a few pics of Rihanna showing off her new shaved look … which looks awfully similar to the shaved look that Cassie has been trying to make happen for the past few months:

Now … see … I’m all for adventures in hair styling but I dunno how I feel about the scalped look. I think women shaving their heads is supposed to look edgy … but to me it just looks like they got ambushed by a hair stylist who hates them. The look really looks terrible on Cassie … but at least she can cover up her shaved parts with her longer hair. Rihanna’s scalp is just out there. I’m not sure how I feel about it … what do y’all think? Like? Love? Hate? Puke?

Japan Releases A New Batch Of Michael Jackson Action Figures

Now you can play with the late King of Pop
Friday, July 17th, 2009

In the wake of the death of Michael Jackson, a bunch of new merchandise has made its way to the marketplace … not the least of which is the toy market. Japanese toy maker Hot Toys was commissioned to create Michael Jackson action figures to be released to coincide with his This Is It Tour that was scheduled to begin on July 13. Despite MJ’s untimely death, the toys have been made available for sale and, IMHO, look pretty cool too:

These toys were designed to be collector’s items, some of which come with a pretty high price tag (¥24,000 each or about $255.00). They will be available for sale this December, in time for your holiday shopping needs. After the jump, check out some of the other MJ toy offerings that are being made available by Hot Toys

Tori Amos Brings Her ‘Sinful Attraction’ Tour To San Diego

The TV Guide
Friday, July 17th, 2009

Yesterday afternoon, my BFF Sarah and I hit the open road and made our way from LA down the coast to San Diego, CA to see Tori Amos live in concert. For the past 14 years, Sarah and I have made our way to many, many Tori Amos concerts all over the country but this was our first Tori show in SD. On our way down, we stopped for a seaside photo opp and then made time for dinner at Chick-Fil-A before arriving at Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay for Tori Amos’s Sinful Attraction Tour:

We had a fun drive down but we were anxious to get to the venue so that we could enjoy our latest Tori Amos concert (our first of 3 from this new tour). So as not to spoil the show for those of you who have yet to see Tori on tour this time around, I’ll keep my photos and the setlist from last night’s show behind the cut. For those of you inclined, you can read my review of the show after the jump …
