Y'all come back now, ya hear?
Whitney Houston & Daughter Jet Out Of LA

Here are a few photos of überdiva Whitney Houston making her way thru LAX Airport with her only child Bobbi Kristina bound for their departing flight out of LA. As all y’all should be well aware, Whitney will release her new album I Look To You this September … so my guess is that she was in town to do some preliminary promo for her album release:

I’m sure Whit Whit will be quite bizzy in the weeks leading up to the much-anticipated release of her new album. I assume she and Bobbi were flying back to their home in Atlanta or mebbe NYC for a spell but they’ll be back in LA in no time. It’s GREAT having our dear Whitney back on the scene again. In case you missed it earlier, you can preview Whitney‘s new single I Didn’t Know My Own Strength HERE.

Also pays homage to Michael Jackson in the process
Kevin Federline Eats French Fries In France

Yesterday we saw photos of Kevin Federline with his ladylove Victoria Prince chillin’ with his children with ex-wife Britney Spears, Sean Preston and Jayden James, in Paris, France lookin’ like they were livin’ high on the hog. Today we get to see more photos of the gang in Paris which give off that same vibe. Apparently, it is impossible for K-Fed to enjoy the sights of Paris without some manner of food product in his hands (which quickly gets shoveled into his face) … but, at least he went for the french fries this time:

Believe me, I love me some pommes frites as much as the next person but something about the sight of well fed K-Fed stuffing his face with french fries, most likely paid for by his very wealthy ex-wife, just kinda grosses me out. As you can see in the second photo, homie is double-fisting TWO cartons of french fries! You will also note, in these photos, that The Federline has taken it upon himself to pay homage to the late Michael Jackson by wearing a XXXL t-shirt in the city of lights:

Considering how much it costs to advertise on a billboard, this shirt that K-Fed is wearing is quite a tribute to the King of Pop. I suspect that K-Fed and his lady will enjoy many more sightseeing adventures around Europe on Britney‘s dime. Blech.

Succumbs to complications due to Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Eric De La Cruz Passes Away At 27

Back in May we learned that a young man named Eric De La Cruz was in dire need of funds to pay for a much needed heart transplant after Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails made a plea to his fans on Eric‘s behalf. Reznor made himself and his entire band available to fans who generously donated significant sums of money to help fund Eric‘s transplant. Shortly after Reznor‘s plea went out to his fans, we learned that over half a million dollars had been raised on Eric‘s behalf and eventually the entire sum required to pay for his heart transplant was raised (in the neighborhood of $800,000). But … it is with a very heavy heart I must pass along the sad news that Eric did not win his battle with his ailment. According to Eric‘s sister Veronica, he passed away on Saturday July 4th:

It is with the heaviest heart that I write this, my beautiful and beloved little brother Eric De La Cruz has passed away. He died yesterday, July 4, 2009, sometime between 2:20 pm and 2:35 pm. Both my mother and I have been so overcome with grief and sadness, we couldn’t bear to put the message out, so until now we shared it with only Eric’s closest friends and relatives.

You can read the rest of Veronica‘s heartfelt letter HERE. It is so terribly tragic that Eric would lose his battle after putting up such a brave fight. So many people rallied together to help him … I’m sure he knew how much he was loved. Altho I don’t know Eric De La Cruz or his family, I have been deeply touched by his story. My thoughts, prayers and sincerest condolences goes out to the entire De La Cruz family.

Vouchers selling for literally millions on eBay
Ticket Vouchers For Michael Jackson’s Public Memorial Service Have Been Distributed

Yesterday evening at around 5PM PT, emails were sent out to approximately 8,000 of the 1.6 million registrants all over the world alerting them to the fact that they have been chosen to attend the public memorial service of Michael Jackson at the Staples Center on Tuesday July 7. As soon as the notifications were distributed, folks took to Twitter and other social networking sites to gleefully announce to the world that they won ticketsto a funeral. While it may seem a bit morbid to some, the public funeral of a major pop culture icon like Michael Jackson is no less than the event to go to. Here is what the notification email and tickets look like:

Some lucky Michael Jackson fans got the e-mails they were hoping for Sunday, saying they’ve won two free tickets to Tuesday’s memorial service. “OMG OMG OMG OMG i got tickets to the michael jackson memorial service!!!” Deka Motanya wrote Sunday afternoon in a Twitter message. The 8,750 fans chosen were summoned to Dodger Stadium Monday to pick up their tickets and have a wristband placed on their arms to prevent them from reselling them. The Michael Jackson memorial, set for 10 a.m. (1 p.m. ET) Tuesday in the Staples Center arena, is expected to be a star-studded and emotional tribute to the entertainer, who died June 25. Twitter.com served as a seismograph Sunday as fans anxiously watched their inboxes for an e-mail from AEG Live, the memorial organizer and Staples Center owner. More than five hours after the notifications were to be sent, none had been received. “Come on and let me know, Staples … did I win tickets to Michael Jackson’s memorial?” read one tweet posted at 3 p.m., four hours after the e-mails were supposed to start flowing. One woman wrote she “is checking her e-mail anxiously to see if she got tickets to the Michael Jackson memorial at the Staples Center.” Just before 5 p.m. (8 p.m. ET), Twitter erupted with messages of excitement: “I won the Michael Jackson tickets for Tuesday!!!! Heading to LA tmrw!!!!” read one tweet that linked to a photo of an iPhone screen with the e-mail. “Apparently my dad’s friend who hates Michael Jackson, may have won tickets tu the memorial service… Step-mom’s freaking out..!” Other messages came from disappointed fans who did not get the e-mails: “I guess i didnt make the drawing to win tickets to Michael Jackson Memorial!!! go figure, I’m sadden and hurt :-(” The odds of winning the tickets were long — just one of every 182 were chosen. Organizers used a computer to choose 8,750 names from 1.6 million who registered online since Friday. Motanya, 27, works in a doctor’s office in San Francisco, California. She scrambled Sunday night to line up plane tickets so she and her boyfriend could fly to Los Angeles Monday to claim her tickets. “Oh yeah, I’m going,” she told CNN. “I’m e-mailing my boss saying I’ve got to leave early because I’m going to L.A.” Each winner gets two tickets, bringing the number awarded in the lottery to 17,500. Just 11,000 of those are for seats inside the Staples Center, while the other 6,500 are for viewing the memorial telecast across the street at the Nokia Theater. Winner must meet other requirements “in order to avoid the reselling of tickets,” according to a news release from the Jackson family. The notification gives them a secret code and instructions to appear at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday to claim their tickets.

Along with their tickets, they will get the wristbands “one of which will be placed on their wrist at that time,” the family statement said. “Fans attending the memorial service must have both a valid ticket AND a wristband,” the Jackson family statement said. “Wristbands that have been ripped, taped or otherwise mutilated will be void.” The Jackson family set aside 9,000 Staples Center seats to give out to people they choose, according to organizers. Some people were seen picking up those “friends and family” tickets at Dodger Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Two wristbands, one blue and one gold, were given out with each ticket. Ticketholders were instructed that they must wear the wristbands to validate their tickets. Police have said no one will be allowed near the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles without tickets or media credentials.

It is a bit eerie for folks to be all OMGing over the fact that they will be allowed to attend a funeral but, again, this is Michael Jackson we’re talking about. My guess is that the memorial service will be something of a jubilant celebration of MJ‘s life (not unlike a concert) rather than a somber funeral-like service. While some folks received “good news” yesterday, others received bad news. Notification emails were also sent out to folks who were NOT selected to attend the service … those emails look like this:

Despite the fact that organizers are trying to avoid ticket scalping, that doesn’t mean that the tickets aren’t being scalped. As soon as the notifications went out yesterday, auctions on eBay began springing up … for outrageously exorbitant amounts. After the jump, check out THE most outrageous bidding war I came across for a pair of tickets to attend MJ‘s public memorial service on Tuesday …
