Sounds like all that 'This Is It Tour' concert memorabilia won't go to waste after all
Plans For Michael Jackson’s Public Funeral Have Been Revealed

Yesterday afternoon we learned that the public memorial service for Michael Jackson will take place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, CA on Tuesday July 7 (after the Jackson family quashed plans for a public memorial service to take place at Neverland Ranch on Friday July 3) and today we are learning more about those plans. RadarOnline is reporting that a charge of $25 will be required for public attendance to the event and that concert memorabilia that was to be sold at MJ‘s planned This Is It Tour in London (which was due to begin on July 13) will be available for sale at the memorial service. Additionally, Newsweek magazine claims to have the answers to 5 of the most burning questions about MJ‘s funeral. Here is the info that is being reported from both RadarOnline and Newsweek:

Fans who wish to attend Michael Jackson’s star-studded memorial service at Staples Center will have to shell out $25 to sit in the stands, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. Family, friends and VIPS will have seats on the main floor for The Tuesday, July 7th Staples service, first reported by RadarOnline.com, while the general public will be plucking down $25 to sit in the stands. The memorial service will feel like a concert production featuring guest speakers, a lot of music and video screens inside and outside of Staples, a source close to the planning tells RadarOnline.com. Michael Jackson’s close friend Elizabeth Taylor is expected to attend, along with Diana Ross. T-shirts that were going to be sold on Michael’s upcoming “This Is It” tour will not go to waste. They will be sold outside Staples to people entering the service. The service will be held between 10am PST and noon PST.

It remains to be seen if this service will be broadcast on TV or on the Internets for fans outside of the LA area to watch but my guess is that at least some of the service will be telecast so that fans around the world can watch MJ‘s public memorial service. Newsweek answers more questions about the funeral, including whether or not there will be a public viewing of MJ‘s body, where MJ will be buried and more:

Will there be a public viewing? Jackson’s body currently isn’t in shape for a public viewing, the friend says, though many in the family still think the public should see him one last time. But his mother, Katherine, who seems to be calling all the shots, is very strongly against a public viewing, as is his sister Janet.

Who will deliver the eulogy? Jackson will most likely be eulogized by both the Rev. Al Sharpton and the Rev. Jesse Jackson in both the public and private memorials. The family friend says Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, is basically out the loop–the entire family is mortified by Joe’s presence and TV appearances. His input is being ignored, according to the family friend.

What about the private service? Katherine was apparently hoping to hold a private funeral and burial before the memorial on Tuesday. But public demand may override that. The family friend says that Katherine has been repeating her fear that leaving Michael unburied for more than a week would cause his soul to wander, and she feels his soul wandered enough on Earth.

Where will he be buried? The burial site is still undecided, though Neverland Ranch is one option. Area residents are opposed. Talk of taking him back to Gary, Ind., his hometown, has been squashed.

How are the kids coping? The family is keeping the children away from TV and newspapers, much like Michael did when he was alive.

By pretty much all accounts, it looks like Michael Jackson‘s public funeral service will take place next Tuesday at the Staples Center. I’m sure it will be a major event, which I suppose can be expected of someone as larger than life as Michael Jackson was, is and forever will be.

‘Rolling Stone’ Magazine Pays Tribute To Michael Jackson

Rolling Stone, arguably the definitive Rock & Roll magazine, is paying tribute to the memory of the late Michael Jackson by publishing a tribute issue of their magazine. The mag, which will offer 4 different coverphotos, is now available for pre-order HERE (it ships on July 10) and will offer essays on the life of Michael Jackson from the musicians who presumably knew him best. Here is one of the coverphotos of the Rolling Stone tribute issue along with a short description of the mag:

Rolling Stone brings you the definitive tribute to the King of Pop, with a dazzling 96 page special issue (plus 4 covers) chronicling the thrilling highs and chilling lows of Michael Jackson from Motown to Thriller to Neverland Ranch. The vast majority of the material here is new, thanks to essays from Will.i.am, Smokey Robinson, Quincy Jones, Sheryl Crow, Slash, Adam Lambert, Usher, L.A. Reid, Akon, Brooke Shields, Gamble and Huff, Wyclef Jean, Ne-Yo, Weird Al, Martin Scorsese, Glen Ballard, John Landis, plus the Rolling Stone staff. Also included are reprints of two classic Rolling Stone cover stories, one from 1973 by Ben Fong Torres, and a 1983 piece by Gerri Hershey.

I’m quite perplexed as to why, exactly, Adam Lambert was asked to contribute to this tribute issue but I’m sure AI fans are thrilled. It makes sense that RS would honor the memory of MJ in this way, he graced the cover of their mag many, many times thruout his life and career. It seems fitting that he would grace their cover at least one … or four more times.

On charges of domestic battery ... of Coleman?
Shannon Price, Wife Of Gary Coleman, Busted!

Shannon Price, the wife of Diff’rent Strokes star Gary Coleman, was arrested last night in Santaquin, Utah on charges of domestic battery and disorderly conduct. Price and Coleman live together in Santaquin so it is believed that Coleman was the victim of Price‘s battery … but there has been no official confirmation. Here is Shannon Price‘s sad and kinda scary mugshot … she’s been busted, y’all:

We’ve learned Gary Coleman’s wife was arrested last night for domestic violence and disorderly conduct in Santaquin, Utah — where the couple has a home. According to the sheriff’s website, Shannon Price was booked for the two misdemeanors at 8:32 PM and then released on $1,205 bond. Cops tell us Shannon allegedly broke household items belonging to Gary and that he was not physically harmed.

Yikes! Who knew that the fairytale marriage of Gary Coleman and his wife Shannon was such a volatile relationship. It’s of some comfort to know that little Gary wasn’t physically harmed in last night’s fracas but still … big, mean ol’ Shannon should pick on someone her own size. Let’s not forget that Coleman himself got busted for misdemeanor reckless driving and disorderly conduct last September — mebbe these two really were made for each other. It remains to be seen if the couple will reconcile after this allegedly violent incident but, as Shakespeare said, the course of true love never did run smooth.

"He did have the most incredible life. He enjoyed every single second"
Ed McMahon, TV’s Favorite Sidekick, Remembered

As you may recall, Ed McMahon — long-time sidekick to Johnny Carson on NBC‘s The Tonight Show and all around television host and pitchman — passed away at 86 last week but he was just memorialized at a ceremony at the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood, CA yesterday. His memorial ceremony was attended by family, friends and fellow military servicemen. Here are a few photos from McMahon‘s memorial service and some info from the ceremony:

Ed McMahon was remembered as a man with a passion for life, his family and the Marine Corps at a tribute Wednesday to the late sidekick of “The Tonight Show” flavored by military pomp, prayer and music. “He did have the most incredible life. He enjoyed every single second,” said his widow, Pam. “I miss him so much, every single second. I can’t say I don’t cry a lot, because I do.” The ceremony at the Television Academy of Arts & Sciences featured performances of “My Way” and other songs, along with solemn salutes from Marines in dress uniforms who presented U.S. flags to McMahon’s family. McMahon, 86, died June 23 after a long hospitalization for several health problems. He had broken his neck in a fall in March 2007, and battled a series of financial problems as his injuries prevented him from working. The tribute focused on his unflagging humor and spirit. “For my dad, life was a festival, a celebratory experience,” said son Jeff McMahon. “No occasion was ever mundane.” Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Mike Lehnert said few knew of McMahon’s military record because “he didn’t flaunt it.” Lehnert recounted McMahon’s service in World War II as a flight instructor and test pilot, his time in the Marine Reserves and his return to active duty in the Korean War. He flew 85 missions and retired as a full colonel in 1966. “You lived your life at full throttle,” Lehnert said. More lighthearted remarks came courtesy of the Hollywood crowd. Tom Arnold, who worked with McMahon on the 1977 WB sitcom “The Tom Show,” said he envisioned him greeting “Tonight” host Johnny Carson in heaven. Arnold said McMahon was that rare individual in the entertainment industry, a man that “100 percent of the people liked.” TV host Leeza Gibbons called McMahon a kind “big brother” and an inspiration. “He could host anything, he could sell anything. And he never ever lost his cool on camera,” she said. Two oversized, framed images of McMahon decorated the stage in the auditorium. One showed the familiar business-suited TV entertainer. The other, a portrait, depicted McMahon in a flight suit with two military planes aloft behind him.

With all the sad news of death going around and the unceasing news concerning Michael Jackson, it is easy to forget that TV legend Ed McMahon is no longer with us. I think it is important to remember his legacy and pay tribute to the man, at least one more time, who we lost just last week. I know that I was unaware of McMahon‘s brave military service … and I’m sure it’s news to many of y’all. Rest well, Ed … thank you for your tireless service, you will be missed.

Les Beckhams Team Up, Again, For More Armani Underwear Ads

Wee!!! It’s a happy day whenever new Emporio Armani Underwear ads featuring David Beckham are released to the masses … and today is one of those days. Just about 3 weeks ago, David Beckham released his latest batch of campaign ad photos for Emporio Armani Underwear and today we get to see Becks in two new photos. Unfortch wifey Victoria Beckham, who features in her own set of campaign ad photos for Emporio Armani Women’s Underwear, is also included in these new promo photos but I think that Becks‘s intense hawtness more than makes up for her inclusion … behold:

These photos were shot by famed fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in Milan, Italy earlier this year. As some of you may recall, this isn’t the first time Les Beckhams have teamed up to promote Armani Underwear. The couple featured in their first Armani Underwear ad together back in January of this year. I really like these photos … but my preference has to be the first photo … I’m thinking the appeal comes from all the leg spreading that is going on. Oh yeah … whatever Becks is sellin’ in these new campaign ads … I’m buyin’! ;)

The TV Guide

Again, no big news to impart on the personal front today. I really feel like David and I are easing into the lazy Summer and are really planning on laying low for a while. We’ve spent so much time flying all over the place for the first 3 years of our relationship, I think we’re happy doing nothing too strenuous for the next few months. It’s nice not having to do anything. I’m getting reading done, David is running more … life is good.

There is an event at the Roosevelt Hotel tonight that we may attend but, then again, we may not. Summer is my fave time of the year. And it’s only just begun :)

Yesterday we got our first look at the cover of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly which is being published in tribute to the late Michael Jackson. Today we learn that EW will, in fact, publish 4 covers of their MJ tribute issue so that fans can have the option of purchasing their fave coverphoto … or purchasing all of the tribute coverphotos. Here is what the 4 different coverphotos for this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly look like:

If you are interested in purchasing these various copies of Entertainment Weekly, you can do so online HERE. I believe that, just like with previous issues of EW mag that published alternate covers, all 4 coverphotos will be included inside each issue. Personally, that is good enough for me.

Poor Unfortunate Soul
Beth Ditto Channels Her Inner Ursula The Sea Witch

So, I posted the following photo on my official Twitter account last night and it is, IMHO, too funny to not share here on the blog. Beth Ditto, lead singer of The Gossip, made an appearance at a place called Sketch (tell me about it) in London, England for a launch party for her new clothing line Beth Ditto at Evans. Ms. Ditto, who was joined at the event by friends like Kate Moss, was rockin’ a full body suit that was emblazoned with black and white dominoes … but it was her hair and make-up that made her look like someone else we all know and love:

I mean … c’mon … she is almost the spitting image of Disney villain Ursula the Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid. I’m not sure if that’s the exact look she was going for but … she really nailed it.

First single from his debut album 'Thank Me Later'
First Look: Drake, ‘Best I Ever Had’

New R&B artist Drake (née Aubrey Graham) has released his debut music video for his debut single Best I Ever Had. The video was directed by Kanye West and is the lead single from Drake‘s as yet unreleased debut album Thank Me Later. Here are a few screencaps from the just released music video:

As you may recall, Drake has been romantically linked with Rihanna and has been taken under the wings of both Kanye West (who directed his video), Jay-Z (who is rumored to have offered Drake a very lucrative record deal) and Lil’ Wayne (who has been mentoring his career thus far). It really sounds like Drake has got a lot of powerhouses in his corner … he’s bound to succeed, right? After the jump, check out Drake‘s video for Best I Ever Had in full …
