What Happens In Vegas . . .
Yesterday afternoon, David and I made our way to the ArcLight in Hollywood, CA to see The Hangover after hearing so many good things about the flick. We decided to go to a movie at 5:30 in order to avoid the crush of people also vying for a chance to see this movie … we were happy to find the theater mostly empty. As far as comedies go, this one was pretty good … but I’m afraid it wasn’t nearly as hilarious as everyone seems to be saying:

Let me be clear … The Hangover is really funny but, again, it ain’t the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. The juvenile humor was pretty entertaining (tho, I can really do without the “faggot” jokes) and the crazy shizz that goes down was insanely entertaining but I was really annoyed that all the funny parts were prominently shown in the trailer for the film. There are a few funny gags that are not shown in the trailer but, I’m afraid, if you’ve seen the trailer then you’ve pretty much seen the film. I understand that The Hangover 2 is already in the works … so hardcore fans of the film have that to look forward to.
Next, David and I want to see Drag Me to Hell … which also has been getting ridiculously positive reviews. I hope that one lives up to the hype. BUT TONIGHT … I will be chillin’ with some good friends watching Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final rooting for my beloved Detroit Red Wings! They are only 1 game away from winning the Stanley Cup again!

Last year, the Red Wings defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in Pittsburgh to win the 2008 Stanley Cup, I’m really hoping for a repeat tonight!! Woot!!! I will pretty much be a wreck for the rest of the day … I’m really hopin’ for a happy outcome for the Wings :)

Yeah, I didn’t think the Hangover looked too good. You’re gonna like Drag Me To Hell, it is a very fun film. My favorite part is the goat. He reminds me of my dog when he’s in a huffy mood. Did you ever see The Evil Dead or Army of Darkness? This girl is so good in the Bruce Campbell role, I wish they would have made her character’s name “Ashley.” Have fun!

Okay I know you are from Detroit but now that you’re in LA the Lakers game is tonight. You need to become a fan :)

@Marissa Vallejo — I am rooting for the Lakers but I can’t focus on basketball until the Stanley Cup Final has been settled :)

Just wanted to say that I heard similar reports about The Hangover … that it is only “okay.” Don’t think I’ll go see it. On the other hand, I’ve heard that “Drag Me to Hell” is amazing! I think I WILL go see that one!

The girl from Drag Me To Hell is also really good in Matchstick Men – the one and only Nicholas Cage movie I truly love. …And I guess It Could Happen to You too, but thats a different story :)

The Hangover is not exactly cinema gold, but I thought it was hilarious. My husband loved it. If you thought Wedding Crashers was funny, you’ll definitely like this one.

@Jo, I remember, you’re right!
Re the NBA finals, it’s time for some *MAGIC*! :)

Ugh I hate it when all the good parts are shown in trailers.

Umm hello…what movie were you watching? The Hangover was THE funniest movie I have seen in a very long time.
The trailer did have alot of the funny moments featured, however there was so much more that was even more funnier…anyone remember the ending credits??
A++ and Bradley Cooper is to die for…sexiest actor by far!!!

I’m going to have to disagree. I thought The Hangover was freaking hilarious. Right up there with the best movies I’ve seen in awhile.

HOLY SHIZ! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard at the movie theatre! I thought the movie was GREAT. Not the greatest movie ever or even the funniest movie ever, but I loved it and the theatre I was in was full and EVERYONE was laughing the entire time, so that makes the experience that much better. I was expecting cheating husbands and lots of T & A and it wasn’t at all like that (except for the pictures, lol). Good times :)

The Hangover was quite funny. It all depends on your mood. I personally did not like Wedding Crashers at all, but I loved this movie. So mood and setting makes a big difference. My theatre was crowded, so maybe being with a lot of people and enjoying myself made it a better experience.
Everyone will enjoy themselves with this movie.

OMG Trent you’re gonna DIE when you see drag me to hell, I was kinda sceptical because I saw a bunch of stupid “scary” movies like the unborn, the eye, prom night etc, but this one actually takes the cake!
You will not be dissapointed in general. There might be some parts that are kinda stupid, but beware to get scared.

Trent – I love you! I do. And I’m so glad you’re a big Detroit fan – everybody should have tons of hometown pride!
So…I just… I gotta say it… I hope you understand…
GO PENS! :)

I don’t find fratboy humor that is found in movies like The Hangover funny. There is a whole string of comedy movies out there now that have been produced, directed and starred in by once college nerds. I don’t find it funny, never have and never will. That’s why I’ve never been to a Will Ferrell movie. He’s NOT funny. American comedy movies don’t hold a candle to British ones.

Do NOT waste your money on Drag me to Hell. Trust me on this. It was laughably bad. I got more entertainment out of the people’s reactions around me than the crappy movie itself. More gross-out, funny than genuinely terrifying. Justin Long is super cute in it though. Woot woot!!!
