The Trade Paperback Version Of ‘New Moon’ Gets A Hot New Cover
Entertainment Weekly brings us our first look at the new cover artwork for the trade paperback version of Stephenie Meyer’s book New Moon which ties in with the release of the movie version of the book The Twilight Saga: New Moon … behold:
Attention Team Jacob: Little, Brown has revealed their cover for the movie tie-in edition of New Moon, which features an exclusive image from the Twilight franchise’s second film. Taylor Lautner fans should certainly pick up more than a few copies (Those arms! That smoldering stare! Remember, he’s only 17!). As for Team Edward…well, at least the image proves that the moon is not, in fact, made of green cheese.
Holy moly! Now that’s the kind of book cover that might inspire the young’ns to pick up a book and start reading. This coverphoto adeptly highlights the focus of New Moon and rightfully puts the character Jacob Black (portrayed by actor Taylor Lautner) front and center with Bella Swan (portrayed by actress Kristen Stewart). I like how Edward Cullen (portrayed by Robert Pattinson) is integrated into the moon (which is normally the symbol of the werewolf). I realize that you cannot always judge a book by its cover … but in this case I think the coverphoto adequately sums up the plot of New Moon. What do y’all think … do you like this book cover?

Why does he have a tattoo?
Didn’t the fan work of the poster of Jacob have a tattoo? In the same place?

The tattoo is supposed to be the “brand” for the wolf pack. I don’t remember them mentioning it in the book, but in the pictures of the pictures of the wolf pack all of the guys had them.

yeah the tattoo is part of the movie, i don’t remember it being mention in the book unless my memory is comprised! the cullen have their family crest and the wolf pack go their tattoos. i think i like the idea of them “tweaking” the movie just a bit.

@ Amber Lynn – I know, right?! I believe what they’re doing is putting a tattoo on the wolf packs arms to signify that they’re all together… remember in the first Twilight movie they put that weird wrist band on the Cullen guys and for the Cullen girls they put the necklace to signify that they were united? It’s weird but oh well. Bella’s arm looks really awkward, by the way.

And it’s the same wrist band/necklaces that you can buy in Hot Topic too! ahahahaha maybe they’ll have a ~wet and stick tattoo~ version of the wolf packs tattoos in Hot Topic. I wouldn’t doubt it.

New Moon was defenitely my favorite book in the series! I love the friendship between Bell and Jacob. Nice book cover, too.

I don’t think it properly portrays it at all. They were only friends in New Moon. And she’s all over him in this. I’m glad I already have the book, but this may make me no want to see the movie.

Denise I view it as hes all over her and she looks uncomfortable about it, pushing him away but sort of okay with it. Thats more like the end of the book. I like the cover, and that they incorporate edward in the moon, as if hes watching them or is a presenve hanging over them (which he is). . . the tattoos are the wolfpacks version of the cullen crest: something created for the film because it has a great marketing purpose and easily lends itself to a ton of memorabilia and merchandise. Chase they’re DEF going to make wet and stick versions.

I actually think that this cover is much better than the first movie poster. In this one, Kristen is showing emotion for a change. She looks devastated, like her life is falling to pieces, which is the very essence of the book. Taylor looks protective, like he his holding her together, but he still looks like he is in love with her. I also love how his pack is hiding/sulking behind him in the shadows! All-in-all this is perfect. In fact it should be the movie poster and not the book cover.

I love it. She is holding herself together while holding on to Jake. But she is pushing him away too. SO GOOD. Favorite book.

This cover is so perfect. This book is really more about Jacob’s and Bella’s budding romance/friendship, but Edward is still definitely in the picture. I think its an excellent cover.

New Moon is the saddest book of the saga, and i think the pic shows that and is perfect and blablabla, but my Team Edward’s heart knows i would have liked more a pic Edward/Bella, and which is the central couple in the book? Exactly Edward and Bella.
So I think Little Brown is Team Jacob.

I agree with Denise although I get what Roxster is saying. I’m all Team Edward. I don’t like how they have them together like that. Too me it gives first time readers the impression they are together more then they really are. Seems as if little brown is stretching the truth a bit, lol. Go Team Edward :-)

I love this cover. I love how Jacob is protecting her. and in new moon it talks about how she is always wrapping her arms around her mid section ‘trying to hold herself together’. well done to them.

Anyone else notice how Edward doesn’t look the same on the Twilight movie cover and now the New Moon book cover as he does in the movie? Why does his face look so angular and strange on these promo pics?

I think the cover does a pretty good job of getting at the ideas in the book, but I’m definitely more of a fan of the original book cover artwork. I always hate it when movies come out of books and they add the covers based on the movies. Like with LOTR, I refused to buy any covers that were based on the movies, but then again, I don’t like when book covers have people on them anyway … unless their drawings like HP!

erm I don’t think it’s a good pic. If Jacob is in love with Bella, he should be looking at her and not the fricking camera. He totally looks like he’s thinking “I’ve made it. I’m a studmuffin.” or something like that. The picture looks like its posed by amateurs. I think Jacob Black was badly casted — Taylor still looks like a kid to me with his baby face and isn’t so cute with his squished together features
