The 2009 MTV Movie Awards Are Handed Out
Clearly, the folks who voted for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards were BIG Twilight fans because they chose to heap numerous awards on the film and its actors over bigger movie blockbusters like Batman: The Dark Knight and the Academy Award winning film Slumdog Millionaire. The show should’ve been renamed the 2009 MTV Twilight Awards cuz, really, that’s what the whole thing turned out to be. Here are a few pics of some of the red carpet arrivals at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal Studios in Hollywood, CA, a run-down of what went down last night and some pics from the show itself:

The MTV Movie Awards were a blood bath Sunday night with “Twilight” taking five trophies, including best movie. But it was Sacha Baron Cohen who gave the show its trademark bizarro moment when he landed upside-down on the lap of Eminem, who may or may not have been deeply offended. “Twilight,” the popular vampire drama starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, sucked up golden popcorn trophies for best movie, best fight, best kiss, breakthrough male performance and female performance during Sunday’s freewheeling and often-bleeped ceremony at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif. “The fans are the ultimate driving force,” Stewart said while accepting her best female performance trophy (which she promptly dropped on the floor, breaking off a chunk of the golden popcorn). Awards were decided by fan votes. Other winners included “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” star Zac Efron for male performance and his co-star Ashley Tisdale for female breakthrough performance. Miley Cyrus accepted the best song from a movie prize for “The Climb” from “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” preventing “Twilight” from sweeping all six nominated categories. An award new to this year, the “WTF moment,” went to Amy Poehler’s scene in “Baby Mama” where she urinates in a sink. But even that was upstaged by Baron Cohen, who flew in on a wire, hanging above the audience. Dressed as flamboyant character “Bruno” in a pair of feathery white wings and his rear end mostly exposed, the comedian crashed into an overhead obstacle and was lowered headfirst into the lap of Eminem, his bare hindquarters in the rapper’s face. “Is the real Slim Shady about to stand up?” chirped Baron Cohen. Eminem seemed visibly upset by the encounter, and members of his entourage roughly removed Baron Cohen as the rapper struggled to get out. But had the rapper’s self-styled homophobic character been punked by Baron Cohen and MTV, or was he in on the elaborate stunt? Free of the scene, Eminem stormed out with his entourage in tow — and cameras rolling — and hit the exits. Baron Cohen’s descent to the audience was included in rehearsals, but Eminem — who performed Sunday night — didn’t take part in that piece of the run-through. As the rapper stormed off, it sounded as though he was wearing a microphone, and cameras were in position to record his fast exit, but he was not seen or heard from again. Baron Cohen’s publicist, Matthew Labov, had no comment when reached after the show. A spokeswoman for MTV would not confirm whether Eminem was caught by surprise, and representatives for the rapper did not immediately return requests for comment Sunday night … Besides handing out awards for movies from the past year, MTV debuted new footage from the upcoming films “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” and “New Moon.” The highlight of the “Twilight” sequel clip: A newly buff Taylor Lautner transformed instantly into a giant, menacing canine, fans’ first look at one of the storyline’s werewolves.
LOL. I was surprised that Twilight only won 5 awards … from watching the show, it seemed like the movie won every category announced. It’s very clear that the Twilighters have spoken … and they love their vamps! They also love their awkwardly, fidgety starlet Kristen Stewart … who fumbled and itched her head thruout her acceptance speech for Best Female Performance (she looked like a crack addict pheenin’ for a hit) — and then dropped her award trophy onto the ground. In case you missed it the first time or just wanna watch it again, you can watch the full video of her onstage acceptance speech (and fumble) after the jump …
That girl looks like she needs a fix!! Overall, the 2009 MTV Movie Awards were pretty damn good … not necessarily MTV’s best awards show ever but deffo their best Movie Awards show … wouldn’t you agree? Click HERE to see a full list of 2009 MTV Movie Award winners.

I’m sorry but I absolutely cannot stand her!!! she made an idiot out of herself! and like you said Trent, she looked cracked out and ready for a hit!
June 1st, 2009 at 9:32 am
im still trying to figure out how twilight won all 5 awards – i mean kristen getting best actress? makese me remember why i DONT watch the mtv awards anymore.
June 1st, 2009 at 9:34 am
I actually liked this awards show. They cut a bunch of crap out for the west coast peeps. It was like 2 hours long.
June 1st, 2009 at 9:35 am
she was so awkward, it actually made me like her more though…maybe all that bratiness you’ve been perceiving is just awkward shyness..i can relate! (plus i thought it was uber cute that robert p. was laughing at her)
June 1st, 2009 at 9:36 am
I dunno, Trent… I really almost didn’t comment at all cuz I know NOTHING of Twilight…
but to me she just seemed a lil awkward and nervous. LOL, I’d probably do worse speaking in public for the first time.
June 1st, 2009 at 9:39 am
i have to ask – cause my sister said i was just seeing things but – did anyone else notice how roberts shirt wasnt buttoned right? i dunno how i noticed it haha. its almost like the had a quickie before the show and had to rush to get dressed again haha
June 1st, 2009 at 9:43 am
I think her awkwardness is endearing and it’s what makes her wrongly come off as arrogant and bratty.
June 1st, 2009 at 9:45 am
hahahahaha. i was hysterical laughing when she dropped her trophy and was like “i’m just as awkward as you expected me to be.” … kinda made me like her a little more.
June 1st, 2009 at 9:46 am
Kristen is as awkward on screen as she is off I feel she has zero personality or maybe she is very shy (which I can understand being shy myself). I like Twilight and all but movies that were much better and probably more deserving should have won it seems like a bunch of teeny boopers were voting. Regardless it was entertaining and the Kings of Leon were fabulous!
June 1st, 2009 at 9:47 am
She’s just a very awkward girl, you can tell she doesn’t like to talk in front of big audiences.
I find her adorable <3
June 1st, 2009 at 9:52 am
I thought her frenzied speech was actually cute, she seems pretty shy. BTW, what the heck happened to Megan Fox’s hair? Did she run into a cow and asked it to lick her head?
June 1st, 2009 at 9:57 am
I don’t think she comes off as bratty or crack heady at all. Just shy and a klutz. I can really relate to her in that aspect b/c if I was on that stage I’d probably be talking so fast no one would be able to understand me =]
June 1st, 2009 at 10:00 am
OH OH! i just thought of something….kristen being clumsy and robert laughing at her….so totally channeling bella and edward! man that was more believable than the whole twilight movie!
June 1st, 2009 at 10:09 am
so i was getting twitter feed during the awards when apparently it shouldn’t have been going on yet… “LIVE” … that’s a lie. (and im west coast, where the awards happened….) that’s the only thing negative about the awards show… and kristen stewart’s beyond bratty attitude. on the red carpet shrugging and giving a “whatever” eyebrow lift… obnoxious.
June 1st, 2009 at 10:12 am
i normally don’t hate on any celeb ever and tried not to have her sourpuss attitude get to me but the awards brought out the hater side of me for kristen.
June 1st, 2009 at 10:19 am
WTF is going on with Megan’s hair. My mouth dropped when I seen her last night. I can’t believe she actually left the house like it.Maybe Kristen is perceived wrong. I thought she was always just a snotty little brat, maybe she really is this shy, ackward, little thing..
June 1st, 2009 at 10:22 am
Taylor looks great in that outfit and when they presented the trailer he was the one that felt ore comfortable speaking in public, Robert was super nervous, it was cute.
I think Kristen (apart from having no acting skills) does look like an awkward girl, but I can’t blame her, I would die if I had to speak in front of that audience, she’s just a kid.
June 1st, 2009 at 10:28 am
@Jennifer – It was TOTALLY nothing but teeny boppers voting..It was pretty lame that Twilight won so many awards, but what are you going to do? It’s not the Oscars..Just a fun show..I think it would have been more fun if deserving people and movies actually won but whatevs..I thought Andy Samburg did a good job and the skits were pretty effing funny..Though, to me, the absolute best part was Bruno shoving his butt in Eminem’s face..Hahahaaa!!
June 1st, 2009 at 10:37 am
Twilight wasn’t even that good of a movie. The book was great, movie not so much (my opinion). I can’t believe that it won so many awards. The votes were definately swayed by the younger Edward Cullen loving kids.
June 1st, 2009 at 10:37 am
Oh duh..I could have commented on Bruno’s skit in Trent’s other posting..Didn’t see it..I have to take back what I said..My favorite part was seeing the clip from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!!
June 1st, 2009 at 10:45 am
I gotta say that while I did laugh my ass off at that, I also did feel bad for the girl… I don’t think she was feenin’ for anything, she just looked extremely uncomfortable and nervous to be up there alone. Usually she’s got her costars around her so I can only imagine. And she just seems like an akward girl to begin with… that whole dropping the popcorn shit was funny as hell though…
And can I just comment on the Best Kiss acceptance? While it’s pretty clear that Kristen and Rob totally rehearsed what they would do if they won I do believe they are the first winners in a very long time to NOT actually kiss each other after winning… someone should have explained to them how this MTV stuff works! That being said though, what they did was pretty good… those two really do ooze sexual tension and chemistry when they were together… the audience went crazy!
June 1st, 2009 at 10:51 am
The MTV movies awards are all about ratings, so of course Twilight won everything … even best actress over Kate Winslet. I really don’t understand why they even bother nominating actual serious actors when they never win as it’s all tween girls voting who judge not on content and quality, but how much they want to bone the actors.
Kristen Stewart is officially the most awkward actress I have ever seen. I don’t understand why she signed on to a tween movie when she obviously hates attention so much. :S
June 1st, 2009 at 11:13 am
I’m not really a fan of Kristen, but I have to admit that was pretty funny. It was obvious she was just overwhelmed and nervous, plus a little awkward. This clip has actually made me like her more.
June 1st, 2009 at 11:31 am
Trent I’m surprised with you promoting the dump on Kristen shite that seems to be popular with the hater crowd.
She’s a young shy girl and gets nervous.
I find her very endearing and like a breathe of freash air compared to her overly sexual and whorish counterparts.
Can’t you show some sympathy?
God forbid if the shoe was on the other foot.
She’s a great actress and I’m glad Twilight won all that they did.
They deserved it.
June 1st, 2009 at 11:50 am
i’m glad everyone around the world hate kristen as much as i do. arrogant, annoying, boyish, ungrateful, ugfcuk.
i think it’s safe to say MTV did it again – rigging another award show (like they did for britney). so obvious twilight was going to win EVERY SINGLE AWARD. ironman?! the dark knight?!?! hahaha.. god bless MTV and the stupid people who believe their shiit.
June 1st, 2009 at 12:00 pm
That was almost too awkward to watch. Seriously.
June 1st, 2009 at 12:01 pm
I’m sorry but Megan fox is ugly here. She looks like an over-tanned skeleton. I don’t get everyones fascination with her.
June 1st, 2009 at 12:09 pm
I KNOW! What was with Megan Fox’s hair!?!? It was as if she slathered olive oil on the upper half and back combed the bottom half…….
June 1st, 2009 at 12:13 pm
I like Kristen…I think she is a very good actress (although I haven’t seen or read Twilight). I think she is just a bit shy and awkward, but that is what makes her a good actress. She isn’t a ham.
Paris looks orange, Megan looks greasy. The MTV Movie Awards have no weight, I don’t think people actually care about the results. It is just fun to watch famous people interact with each other, which is the point of the show IMO.
June 1st, 2009 at 12:18 pm
@ Robin: so true!! that really was very edward/bella of them!!
Honestly, I thought Kristen looked the awkwardest when she was announcing the New Moon clip. She started off biting her nails on stage while Rob talked. .. Rob obviously can’t read a teleprompter and sort of struggles, but Kristen looks/sounds straight up bored by having the idea of the movie. I thought her acceptance speech was pretty good (for her) and her dropping it was hysterical, butI love that she acknowledged it with her “as awkward as you expected” comment….The best kiss thing was good, I feel like if they HAD kissed it owuld have added fuel to the fire they’re dating, esp since I don’t recall seeing her bf at the show at any point.
June 1st, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Maybe the popcorn had greasy self-tanning residue on it, from a previous handler… :)
June 1st, 2009 at 12:57 pm
I thought it the show was hysterical. &I voted alot for Twilight and I’m not a “teeny bopper”. Also, I can’t believe you didn’t talk about Leann Rimes, Chris Isaac & Forest Whitaker singing. Seriously funny!!!!
June 1st, 2009 at 1:10 pm
You gotta wonder how she manages to get through auditions?!
June 1st, 2009 at 1:16 pm
I think it is a complete cop out for anyone to blame Kristens’ attitude or awkwardness on being young and nervous. She has been acting (rather poorly i must add) for a number of years now. She should know how to handle herself in interviews and in crowds. If she can’t handle the public speaking aspect of being and actress maybe she should just stop.
June 1st, 2009 at 1:26 pm
She is bella to a T. I like her :)
June 1st, 2009 at 2:07 pm
@ Nina, yea she should totally drop out of acting because she gets shy, nervous and “awkward” in front of large crowds. That’s brilliant advice.
She’s an actress not a public speaker!
She was cute and “normal”. Totally relatable. She handled the situation of accidently dropping the award way better than myself or anyone else for that matter.
People grow up!
June 1st, 2009 at 2:07 pm
To be honest, I believe she was stoned out of her mind! You can just tell. She was mumbling and just awkward and totally out of it! However, by her dropping that award actually made me like her more. Is that weird? Oh, and I never could believe Megan Fox could look ugly until now!
June 1st, 2009 at 2:44 pm
Im sorry but WHY was kristen wearing converse with her dress?! Also, what happened to her hair?! it looked completely disheveled but not nearly as bad as megan fox’s
June 1st, 2009 at 2:46 pm
I think she was stoned, too, rather than (or in addition to?) being nervous. Either way, she did her job poorly.
June 1st, 2009 at 3:01 pm
C’mon guys! Kristen is adorable! I love how shy she was, can people stop saying she was high…she wasn’t acting like she was on MJ (if anything it was speed lol jk). I love her awkward shyness! Sick of all the haters who are mostly just jealous that she gets to work with rob. Get over it you immature warped little girls!
June 1st, 2009 at 3:02 pm
I really dont think she was stoned, if you have watched previous interviews with her, she always fidgets, and mumbles. She is just one of those celebs that wants to act, and doesn’t want all the crap that comes with it (appearances, interviews, etc)I have to agree wrong move with signing on to do Twilight
June 1st, 2009 at 5:42 pm
Maybe she just hadn’t had a cigarette in, say, 20 minutes. =)
June 1st, 2009 at 6:00 pm
Poor thing, she was just nervous. It was torturous to watch.
June 1st, 2009 at 6:15 pm
LOL @ what Abby said
June 1st, 2009 at 6:15 pm
she was just nervous guys. Give her a break.
June 1st, 2009 at 7:23 pm
Aw, I think she’s just nervous and awkward, not bratty! I was actually relieved that she was being a huge klutz and that she doesn’t take herself so seriously- she obvs doesn’t like the limelight like, oh lets say Miley Cyrus. She, to me, is a lot more hate worthy!
June 1st, 2009 at 7:25 pm
hahhahhahhahhahah
That’s so cute and funny, of course. I think she’s just nervous and shy. I like her though. Attitude and stuffs…
June 1st, 2009 at 7:33 pm
All this Kristen hating is pissing me off! … Not every actor is outgoing and a fame whore … For years Sean Penn couldn’t make a speech to save himself … being shy is awful – it’s made worse by people perceiving your shyness as being a spoilt B (or on drugs). Give Kristen a break.
June 1st, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Um.. she was high as a kite y’all. We all know she’s a huge stoner, she doesn’t deny it. Rob probably was too considering how he had to stifle laughs when she dropped the award.
And personally… I think the show SUCKED. Andy samberg was NOT FUNNY. it was painful. the whole show was painful.
June 1st, 2009 at 7:41 pm
not that there’s anything wrong with getting high.. but wrong place to do it when you’re already awkward!
June 1st, 2009 at 9:22 pm
You would think the girl would be used to the attention by now. Her awkwardness is wearing thin. She should buck up and accept that this is her life now. If she can’t get used to it…welll…
by the way, everyone should read the book SPEAK, and then check out her made-for-tv-movie that she starred in. Same acting/different movie.
June 2nd, 2009 at 4:19 am
Agree with Dots – Megan Fox looks totally fugly, wtf happened!?!?!
June 2nd, 2009 at 7:02 am
I’ve said it for a while now, the girl always looks like she just did a line or two in the bathroom. She acts like Tyrone Biggums from Dave Chappelle with all that twitching and itching.
As a professional actress, she needs to constantly be marketing herself, demonstrating she’s good to work with, loyal to her movies, and cares about what she’s doing. She never does any of these things. Even if she was worth her salt in acting, which she is not, as a director I STILL wouldn’t hire her for her poor public relations. If she’s like that to her fans, how is she going to be on set?
June 2nd, 2009 at 8:12 am
I personally LOVE the Twilight series BOOKS. But I fell in love with the movie because of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Have always found Kristen Stewart was just plonked in for some weird reason which I still cannot fathom. It looks like she has been spending WAAAAAY too much time with Robert though doesn’t it? The way she keeps fiddling with her hair reminds me of Robert and his non stop hair pushing during interviews and such. LOL. She does look like a train wreck though. Poor girl. NOT.
June 2nd, 2009 at 10:05 am
megan foxxx whyyyyyyy ? what happened to her hair
June 2nd, 2009 at 3:57 pm
K Stew and megan Fox can compete for dirtiest hair.. and which one looked smellier.. I think Kristen one.. but Megan came in close.. TAKE A SHOWER LADIES
June 3rd, 2009 at 4:23 am
i honestly dont understand how twilight could’ve won so many awards.seriously,i didnt think the movie was that good.
June 3rd, 2009 at 6:30 am
can you imagine if she had worn heels? LOL.
ah, usually i cant really stand kristen. although the speech wasnt as bad as i though. kinda endearing actually! for someone who hates the spotlight, she was probably dreading being up there. hell, id be scared!
but the movie SUUUUUUCKED. worst cinematography ever.
June 4th, 2009 at 8:22 am
From what some people told me, the Twilight leads accepted their awards IN CHARACTER the whooooole night. Thus, the clumsiness and whatever. My guess is they did that to build extra promo for their next movie and so to keep their rabid Twilight fans (who are the world’s worst film critics/voters) happy.
Ho hum. Can’t they understand?
Book = Nice premise, BADLY written.
Movie = Nice premise, BADLY done.
