Robert Pattinson, who was in LA over the weekend to attend the 2009 MTV Movie Awards in order to accept a bunch of awards as well as to present the first new footage from the upcoming sequel film The Twilight Saga: New Moon, has already left SoCal and has made his way to the Big Apple … where a police officer was on hand to ensure his safe exit from the airport:
See … this is what rabid Twilight fandom has done to poor R. Pattz. The guy can’t even walk thru an airport without being mobbed (almost to death) with fans. And if you think about it, the intense attention from fans is only going to get worse … wait until the overzealous Twilight fans get a gander of Edward Cullen‘s half-nekkid body in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Pretty soon, one police officer escort won’t be enough. How long do you suppose it’ll take for an army to be employed to keep Robert Pattinson safe?

Awww, sometimes I feel bad for him, he gets so much attention and has literally ZERO chance of going anywhere without being hassled.
Frankly, teenage girls scare the heck out of me these days. I suppose it wasn’t much different for Elvis though.
this sucks for him, all this chaos is not necessary for a guy who is the vessel in a film who plays e.cullen. he should really just disappear and live his life for awhile. it’s hurts to look at pix of him so tired and exhausted!
he;s gunna be looking tired for a while. i mean they’ve already started casting for the next twilight movie..so im guessing that filming starts soon, plus theres that other movie he signed on for – poor boy is going to be exhausted

Part of me does feel bad for him…but a larger part of me wishes I could run into him while he’s in my hometown…
Luckily for him I’m too old, married, and tired to stalk anyone. Besides, I should want to be part of the solution, not the problem!
i really do hope he plans on departing from JFK (airport in ny) on June 8th aka when i go on vacation. hahah
Thats ridiculous…practically a year ago he could go anywhere and hardly anybody cared. And he doesn’t even seem the “celebrity” type. He comes across as someone whose in it for the acting, not the red carpets and swag and fame. At least it looks like this may have been more precautionary and not b/c there were a million people pushing at him.
Poor guy. I hate to say it but even I, the level-headed person, can get swept up just because he’s drop dead sexy with a gorgeous accent. It’s just hard to say ‘he’s just a regular guy, he’s just a regular guy’ when he looks like that, sounds like that AND plays instruments…..poor guy never had a chance at being “normal” with all of that going on!
I do feel bad for the guy… he can’t even catch a flight without having to worry about people swarming him… it is going to get worse though I mean he’s got other movies coming up and New Moon hasn’t even come out yet… I hope he’s a cool enough guy to just take it all in stride!
twilight isnt worth getting up at stupi o clock in the morning for. even if it is rpatzz and his lovelieness. its good but WHY BOTHER! the poor is probably thiking “GAH just go away please”
I don’t think it’s so much the fans as it is the paparazzi, all these shots of him at the airport are ALL from those celeb websites and the paps….
waaaait…. WHY is he in ny??? is he filming that new movie??
I’m sorry, but this is ridiculous. I feel like the stars from Twilight aren’t really handling their stardom all that well at all. I mean, they basically asked for it and I don’t want to hear the excuse “But they didn’t know it was a big deal” well, that’s their problem. You should never do something that’s permanent without doing a little research before hand… I mean, the Harry Potter series is way more popular than Twilight and the Harry Potter stars were actually younger and yet handled their stardom so much more. But, then again, none of the co-stars look like Robert Pattinson and America is different than the UK.

Chase: I agree Kristen def seems ill prepared, and Rob a bit caught off guard by it…but how does that comment apply to the situation in this pic? Or is it a more general comment? I agree though that if you’re being asked to sign on for a 3 movie contract even if you think its just going to be a “cult thing” like they have said in interviews, you have to realize its got to be big if studios are wanting you to sign on for 3 right away.
The price of fame and fortune…would you give up your freedom for $14 mil in a little over a year’s worth of work? Yeah, I think I would. With that kind of steady income I think I would charter a Lear jet or Gulf Stream to get around. I’d travel with a double or two to throw the vultures off track. Turn it into a game of strategy! Instead of lamenting the constant barrage of paparazzi, turn the tables on them! A chance to be creative with real game pieces! What fun! With enough money anybody can fly below radar!
