Robert Pattinson Hit By A NYC Taxi Cab
Never fear, the young chap is OK

News out of NYC a short while ago reports that Robert Pattinson, currently in production of his new film Remember Me, was struck by a taxi cab earlier today at the corner of Broadway and 12th in front of the Strand Bookstore. Witnesses report that he was only clipped by the cab which hopefully will come as some relief to the rabid Twilighters out there fearing for his safety:

Rob Pattinson is quickly learning the hazards of filming a movie in New York City – he was hit by a taxi cab on Thursday while running away from hysterical fans! RadarOnline.com witnessed the Twilight star get clipped by a cab around noon in front of the Strand Bookstore on Broadway and 12th Street. He was not hurt. The 23-year-old London-born actor had been inside most of the morning filming scenes for his new movie Remember Me. A team of five security guards were trying to fend off a crowd of teenaged girls when Rob was leaving the bookstore. It was pouring rain as they tried to hustle him quickly across the busy street to the safety of his trailer. Some of the teen girls were hysterical and Rob rushed across the road. As he did so, a taxi grazed him. The cabbie slammed on his brakes as soon as he realized what had happened It appeared as if the cab hit Rob in the hip. He stood there for a moment looking stunned. The bodyguard next to him checked if he was okay and then screamed at the fans: “You see what you did, you almost killed him!” Pattinson will be shooting around Manhattan for the next four weeks.

Whoa! Glad to hear that Rob is OK but for his inept bodyguard to place blame of this accident on the fangirls is totally irresponsible. It seems to me that his handlers should be watching him better than they have been and are the ones responsible for his safety. First, his bodyguards allowed overzealous fans to jump on the poor guy as he made his way to the movie set earlier in the week and now they let him fall into traffic. It really sounds like Mr. Pattinson should employ better bodyguards to actually guard his body and keep him from harm.

    @ mona:
” i personally dont get the whole screaming and chasing and crying your eyes out. why do you think he runs? to get away from you freaks… what would they do if they caught him?”

Seriously- I can’t believe these girls don’t stop and think “WTF?! We’re acting like WE’RE THE VAMPIRES!” I think it’s sad that there are always so many teenage girls who are that emotionally warped. I don’t care if that sounds “mean”, it’s true- that kind of hysteria is creepy and unhealthy. Er, hysteria is, period.

@ Susan – It’s OK, I’ll whisk him away to a desert island for you, don’t worry.
@ Z – I agree, his Twiligjht fans are completely deluded, they don’t see him as a person, I cannot understand what goes through the heads of these girls that rush at him, what do they think he is going to do? I wouldn’t be surprised if he took his money from Twilight, finished his contracts with Summit and never worked on a film again, he’s a humble guy, I don’t think he’s greedy, I can imagine him taking a few years off, writing an album and getting away from this madness. In fact, I really hope he does and I don’t see a single picture of him.
Ladies, seriously back the f*ck off before you completely destroy the man behind the character you love.
