Robert Pattinson Hit By A NYC Taxi Cab
Never fear, the young chap is OK

News out of NYC a short while ago reports that Robert Pattinson, currently in production of his new film Remember Me, was struck by a taxi cab earlier today at the corner of Broadway and 12th in front of the Strand Bookstore. Witnesses report that he was only clipped by the cab which hopefully will come as some relief to the rabid Twilighters out there fearing for his safety:

Rob Pattinson is quickly learning the hazards of filming a movie in New York City – he was hit by a taxi cab on Thursday while running away from hysterical fans! RadarOnline.com witnessed the Twilight star get clipped by a cab around noon in front of the Strand Bookstore on Broadway and 12th Street. He was not hurt. The 23-year-old London-born actor had been inside most of the morning filming scenes for his new movie Remember Me. A team of five security guards were trying to fend off a crowd of teenaged girls when Rob was leaving the bookstore. It was pouring rain as they tried to hustle him quickly across the busy street to the safety of his trailer. Some of the teen girls were hysterical and Rob rushed across the road. As he did so, a taxi grazed him. The cabbie slammed on his brakes as soon as he realized what had happened It appeared as if the cab hit Rob in the hip. He stood there for a moment looking stunned. The bodyguard next to him checked if he was okay and then screamed at the fans: “You see what you did, you almost killed him!” Pattinson will be shooting around Manhattan for the next four weeks.

Whoa! Glad to hear that Rob is OK but for his inept bodyguard to place blame of this accident on the fangirls is totally irresponsible. It seems to me that his handlers should be watching him better than they have been and are the ones responsible for his safety. First, his bodyguards allowed overzealous fans to jump on the poor guy as he made his way to the movie set earlier in the week and now they let him fall into traffic. It really sounds like Mr. Pattinson should employ better bodyguards to actually guard his body and keep him from harm.

I never thought the mania would go this far; poor, poor guy. It’s not like its his fault people don’t see him as a person… but a character. Actually, that’s really sad.

    Agreed Trent!

Summit Entertainment needs to step up.

As I said on this site earlier in the week regarding Mr. Pattison’s bodyguards: He needs to fire them and get better help. Where is his agent anyway??? Shouldn’t he/she be on top of this? What is Mr. Pattison paying for if he isn’t being properly protected???

  6. LOVE G says:

    awwww poor Rob :(
i guess everyone’s just dying to see him… like i am… but damn… i feel bad for him.

  7. Rachel says:

I really hope that the crazed girls and overnight fame doesn’t get to his head. I love rob..and so far he has remained VERY VERY humble. But yea, the girls need to friggen relax. He could’ve been really hurt.

  8. Z says:

Ok, I agree it sounds like he needs better/more help but I kind of have to agree w/ the bodyguard’s sentiment that the fans were somewhat responsible for this! It sounds like if they hadn’t been rushing at him, he wouldn’t have darted across the street. Either way, it’s terrible for the guy. :(

I am a Twilight fan and I love me some RPatz, but I would NEVER go that far. Some teenage girls just need to learn to control themselves. He is a person who is already paranoid enough. Stuff like this is going to make him become more of a hermit and never go out.

  10. p says:

@ z – I must say i agree with you. Bodyguards should have been a bit more careful but people need to realise hes not an animal!

  11. Kristy says:

It’s like Final Destination, RPatz style.

That is beyond ridiculous. If those crazy ass fan(g) girls don’t give that poor boy some room to breathe, we’ll be reading about his suicide in the next few weeks or months. I can’t imagine, at this rate, that it will take years to achieve that kind of burnout and overload.

would you looky there, robert pattinson was nearly killed by a cab. he’s an honorary new yorker now :-) am i the only one not blaming fangirls first? they definately need to calm themselves down, respect him, and let him be as he’s working, but nyc taxi drivers are terrible, none new yorkers don’t realize that.

God, I wish he would’ve been involved in a fatal accident! I know that’s mean to say, but I am sick and tired of seeing the ubiquitous Robert Pattinson, everywhere I turn. His pallid countenance makes me sick! He is fug with a capital F.

As much as everybody kvetches about seeing Megan Fox all the time, I share similar sentiments about Robert Pattinson. Somebody, please whisk him away to a deserted island, never to be seen or heard from again!

  15. Jessica says:

You can’t place all the blame on the body guard though, the body guard actually had right to say that, I believe. I mean, if the rabid fans weren’t chasing him and acting like buffoons, Robert wouldn’t have had to get across the street in a hurry.

  16. mona says:

all the fans need to do is adore him from afar.
not chase him down screaming at him. i personally dont get the whole screaming and chasing and crying your eyes out. why do you think he runs? to get away from you freaks… what would they do if they caught him?

  17. Lindsay says:

I feel bad for the actors of Twilight. The fans are PSYCHOTIC, it’s pretty scary. This poor guy has weird rabid girls after him ALL THE TIME, and now gets hit by a car!! And poor Kristen Stewart is constantly scrutinized and ripped apart by these pathetic people. I just don’t understand the madness. I wonder if they regret getting involved in it even though it has elevated them to superstardom.

  18. Z says:

Susan, that’s a terrible thing to say. It seems like you’re suffering the same delusions as the crazy fan girls – he’s a real person, not a symbol. Wishing that a man would die so you wouldn’t have to see his face on TV and magazines is horrible. :(

  19. Robin says:

    “The yellow ones don’t stop!”

  20. Roxster says:

@ Robin:hahahaha love that line. This is ridiculous though, nyc isn’t a very safe place for Rob, huh? I love the Strand though, such a book haven. I could spend hours…and tons of dollars…at that store.
