Kristen Stewart, of Twilight fame, is taking a break from filming The Twilight Saga: New Moon which is still in production for a November ’09 release to film scenes for another new movie that she is working on. Kristen will portray the legendary rocker Joan Jett in the new biopic The Runaways and was spotted yesterday trying to cover up her newly dyed hair as she left a studio here in SoCal:
Incidentally, Kristen‘s New Moon co-star Dakota Fanning (she plays Jane of the Volturi in the film) also stars in The Runaways … she will portray Cherie Currie. As you may or may not know, The Runaways was Joan Jett‘s first band (formed in the 1970′s) and also included bandmembers Lita Ford (portrayed by Alessandra Torresani in the new biopic), Sandy West, Jackie Fox and others. I’m not sure how long Kristen will be working on The Runaways before she has to get back to work on The Twilight Saga: New Moon but the fact that she dyed her hair jet black suggests she’ll be channeling Joan Jett for some time now. I wonder if Kristen Stewart has the acting chops to adequately portray Joan Jett in all of her awesomeness. Do y’all think she can cut it?

Whenever there is a biopic I always feel like they should go with unknowns.
She’ll suck and ruin the movie like she did with twilight.
Well, if Joan Jett was an apathetic, potty mouth, drug abusing teenager with a “kiss my a$$” personality, I think she’ll be fabulous! In fact, drugged out musicians may just be her niche. Head over heels in love teenager certainly was not.
Maybe it’s a wig? They start filming Eclipse in two months so that’s exciting! I don’t think it’s fair for everyone to judge her performance in Twilight. If you’ve seen her other movies you would know that she’s not a bad actress at all.
@Chase, I totally think it’s a wig. No way her people would let her die her hair jet black with Eclipse and possible touch up scenes for New Moon in the near future.
I think it’s a wig too because it looks pretty mullety. i can’t really see her pulling off this role, she’s not a very strong actress at all
kristen is done with new moon. eclipse should start in august or september. girls hair take awhile for it to grow. so i’m assuming she would have to wear a wig for eclipse.
This film is going to bomb is so many ways and also upset many dykes across the nation. Sorry, you aren’t rough enough to portray JoanJett.
Dull? More lyke captivatingly dull! She has an amazing onscreen chemistry that makes u just… get it. She will kick ass as Joan Jett! Shes gorgeous androgynous captivating and crazy talentd, no doubt, itll b amazing.
She couldn’t act her way out of a wet paper bag in Twilight, so I can only hope that she actually does have some acting chops under that vacant stare of hers.

This movie will be more Josie and the Pussycats than it will be about a real band.. The fact that they couldn’t find someone better than Kristen Stewart is a bad start..
i dunno I think shes good but in a one note kind of way…..she plays the somber, angry dark twisty girl very well. we’ll see.
This is the movie where she has to prove herself. She will have to show to the world if she can really act. After all, acting all pensive on Twilight is not really acting.
Kristen’s going to need to learn how to use her words at some point if she wants to keep acting!
Kristen gets a lot of flack for ‘Twilight’, but she’s a really good actress. I saw her in ‘The Cake Eaters’ and she was just amazing.
i think kristen was a lot better when she was younger, now she is really different and does anyone think she has become very shy recently. i love her to death dont get me wrong, but what is going on with her? she looked like she was flyin pretty high on the mtv movie awards, and im not just talking about dropping the award.

turns out she’s awesome in the runaways and portrays joan jett a hell of a lot better than she ever was able to play bella. she was so robotic and useless as bella, she was a horrible actress there. kristen stewart was born to play rough and tumble roles
