Kelly Clarkson has confessed in a new interview that not only is she a “huge” Twilight fan but she is actually a “nerd” Twilight fan … so much so that she has penned a song titled Empty As I Am with her backup singers for possible inclusion on the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon:
Describing the book New Moon as the “saddest book” of the Twilight Saga series, Kelly explains that she was inspired to write an equally sad yet poignant song for the story … and now that the film is set for release this November and will require songs for the film’s soundtrack she is hoping that her song will make it on the album. Sweet melody + sad lyrics = OMG, it has to be on the soundtrack. Kelly Clarkson is the perfect kind of musician for a movie soundtrack of this magnitude. I’m sure the folks at Summit Entertainment are going to choose the songs that they feel best encapsulate the spirit of the movie … but having a name like Kelly Clarkson attached to the project would be very smart, IMHO. Hopefully we’ll get to hear a snippet of the song so we have a better idea of what the track sounds like. Who else do YOU think would be good for the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: New Moon?

I find it kind of funny that she would be into Twilight. I wouldn’t pin her as that kind of girl, especially with her new tongue-in-cheek album.. but maybe that’s what she’s going for?

She’s amazing. I’ve never seen Twilight and I really have never had the urge to see it, but if Kelly’s song was attached to the new project, I think I’d force myself to see the first movie and then the second. I love Kelly. She’s brilliant.

Like others have said, the song on YouTube is called Did You, not Empty As I Am. Did You was a track recorded for Kelly’s My December album and was never meant for Twilight. It leaked because it was on a My December promo CD purchased off of eBay. Rumors swirled that Did You was meant for Twilight, but that wasn’t the case… Empty As I Am was based off the the book.
