Kelly Clarkson Pens A Song For ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’
Kelly Clarkson has confessed in a new interview that not only is she a “huge” Twilight fan but she is actually a “nerd” Twilight fan … so much so that she has penned a song titled Empty As I Am with her backup singers for possible inclusion on the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon:
Describing the book New Moon as the “saddest book” of the Twilight Saga series, Kelly explains that she was inspired to write an equally sad yet poignant song for the story … and now that the film is set for release this November and will require songs for the film’s soundtrack she is hoping that her song will make it on the album. Sweet melody + sad lyrics = OMG, it has to be on the soundtrack. Kelly Clarkson is the perfect kind of musician for a movie soundtrack of this magnitude. I’m sure the folks at Summit Entertainment are going to choose the songs that they feel best encapsulate the spirit of the movie … but having a name like Kelly Clarkson attached to the project would be very smart, IMHO. Hopefully we’ll get to hear a snippet of the song so we have a better idea of what the track sounds like. Who else do YOU think would be good for the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: New Moon?
UPDATE: Pink reader Aimie sends in THIS link to a You Tube clip where we can hear Kelly’s song Empty As I Am. Yep, sounds like a soundtrack song to me. What do y’all think?

I find it kind of funny that she would be into Twilight. I wouldn’t pin her as that kind of girl, especially with her new tongue-in-cheek album.. but maybe that’s what she’s going for?

She’s amazing. I’ve never seen Twilight and I really have never had the urge to see it, but if Kelly’s song was attached to the new project, I think I’d force myself to see the first movie and then the second. I love Kelly. She’s brilliant.

Great post! I really hope the song makes it or at least sees the light of day.
Like others have said, the song on YouTube is called Did You, not Empty As I Am. Did You was a track recorded for Kelly’s My December album and was never meant for Twilight. It leaked because it was on a My December promo CD purchased off of eBay. Rumors swirled that Did You was meant for Twilight, but that wasn’t the case… Empty As I Am was based off the the book.

Its labeled as the song she wrote for new moon on the youtube post, but as you guys noticed the title doesn’t match up….this wouldn’t be the first case though of overeager fans taking songs and claiming they were in the movie and totally confusing people (like with bellas lullaby). Its kind of meh to me. The music coordinator for Twilight, Alexandra Patsavas, is amazing at what she does, and I’ve become a huge fan of a lot of artists shes used in her work (she also does Greys Anatomy which def uses alot of Indie for those of you who mentioned using indie artists) …its def a hugely sad movie and I’m sure they’ll want a powerful ballad for radio play but in terms of the rest of the movie I’m sure she’ll pull out some great stuff…I’m thinking stuff along the lines of Sia or Ingrid Michaelson would def work. I’m realy excited to see how the soundtrack develops though.
