a) recycled toilet paper is not any less comfortable than regular, and I have been buying recycled for a year now without noticing much difference – as well, I buy recycled products wherever I can, do not get plastic bags from stores when I am shopping, and do my clothing shopping at thrift stores – there are great ways to reduce your consumption, especially your consumption of first-round products, which we don’t need more of anyways…

b) @christine: where do you think people urinated before there were toilets? (rivers, and they would bury their fecal matter in the ground) problem is, rivers now are SO polluted and populations are SO large that the addition of human excrement to water sources is corrupting the cleanliness of our water, on top of everything else which gets discarded into our lakes and rivers and oceans

c) thank you trent for posting important issues such as this, and thank you jason mraz for attempting to open the world’s eyes to the problems we have to solve…

Use hoses! :D Haha. There are actually some hoses that release high pressured water so you won’t have to use your hands to touch your ahem and dirty your hands. The pressure itself will remove all dirt/shit.

1. I recycle like a madman…..
2. I walk or ride my bike to work or to get groceries and I don’t use my car for unnecessary jaunts around town…..
3. I turn off AND unplug my laptop when it is not in use, even if it is just for 30 minutes…..
4. I buy Green cleaning products…..
5. I avoid using the dryer when possible….
I’m sorry, but I WILL NOT give up the comfort of 2 ply toilet paper, my hard working recycling ass deserves a little pampering and since I’m not allowed to shoot Sumatran Tigers for fun anymore, I’m going to wipe my ass in style and comfort.

Recycled paper is always preferable, but most paper is harvested from tree farms, not virgin forests. The trees are cut down in a specific block, then replanted as soon as that block is done, and they move on to another area. By the time the last part is finished, the original block is ready to be cut again.

I honestly hope that he did NOT use that lake for a toliet. That does more harm to animals and people who use it for drinking water than you can believe! Recycled paper products (kleenexs and toliet paper) can take a little bit to get used to, but it’s still better than using your left hand.

I solely use recycled toilet paper. It’s not scratchy and no different from using a brand like Scott’s tissue.

EW EW EW…I appreciate the info but GROSS picture. He seems pretty friggin in love with himself to put out a picture like this. BTW nowadays recycled toilet paper isn’t that bad. It’s actually not so scratchy and doesn’t have all the annoying lint and fluff that regular tp has.

interesting photo … I use recycled paper products (tp and paper towels), it’s one of those little things like using flourescent lightbulbs and cloth grocery bags that I can do to feel like I’m helping out.
