Eminem, née Marshall Mathers, decided to venture out in public for the first time since he was humiliated on live, national TV Sunday night at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. As you may recall, Em was involved in a hilarious gag orchestrated by Sacha Baron Cohen and MTV (it remains to be seen if Eminem was in on the joke) that forced the rapper to get a faceful of Cohen‘s bare ass. After storming out of the awards show, Em was nowhere to be seen … until yesterday. He met up with his BFF Travis Barker and the pair went shopping at Barker‘s clothing store Famous Stars and Straps:
Perhaps Travis was trying to cheer up his friend with free swag or mebbe Em isn’t as pissed as we might’ve thought cuz he seemed just fine yesterday. I, personally, still contend that he was in on the joke to an extent … and wasn’t privy to just how far the gag would go. Then again, being the prankster that he is … Eminem is no stranger to using bare ass to get some laughs. Whatever the case may be, it looks like Eminem is over it already and can move on … but I wonder if we should be on the look-out for some retaliation.

I agree with Trent – I think he knew what was happening and had planned to walk-out – but didn’t know that Mr. Cohen would be bare assed.
The LA times is reporting that MTV head writer Scott Aukerman blogged that it was staged.

Eminem’s new album is lame, and HE is lame. I wish he hadnt come out of retirement. I hate his sourpuss face.

I think they told him that Bruno would stop and come down near him I would bet they didn’t tell him he was going to get Sacha’s bum in his face!! ;-)

Well I guess what Jadedkitten wrote settles it. You could also totally see it was staged by the way Eminem acted his suprise as Bruno came down. He makes a really fake WTF face. On the MTV website there’s pictures of the incident everywhere which also makes it pretty clear it was staged :)
Nothing alleviates getting an ass in the face better than shopping. Queer.
I wanted to believe it was spontaneous. But the whole show was really well rehearsed and filled with advertising. Maybe I never noticed it before?

Assuming he was in on it, why the walk-out? Was that supposed to be funny? Or manly? Staged or not staged doesn’t really matter. Either way, Em comes off as a humorless jack@ss.
also, he was wearing a microphone and i don’t know why else he wouldve been wearing one at that point in the show unless he was going to be saying something. and say something he did!

I think it was staged and they just wanted him to be in the media…because of his new album…
who cares about him. what an effing baby to react that way. He can dish it out but cant take it. waste of space.
He knew part of the joke, but not what ended up happening … it made him look stupid & humiliated and I don’t think Eminem would volunteer to come out of something looking second best.
