Dakota Fanning Begins Filming ‘The Runaways’
Yesterday we saw photos of Kristen Stewart in full costume and make-up as Joan Jett on the SoCal set of the new movie The Runaways which just went into production. Today we get to see pics of Stewart’s co-star Dakota Fanning in full costume and make-up as Runaways bandmember Cherie Currie on set (along with a couple newer photos of K. Stew as Joan Jett in a different costume) … behold:

Ah yes … I remember all the heavy and IMHO bad make-up that the ladies used to wear in the early 80’s. The look lingered for much of the decade and the young ladies who rocked this look in high school were referred to as burn outs. All I know is that there had better be at least one feather roach clip featured in the flick. To be honest, the look is all nostalgic and fabulous these days … I really am dying to see how this movie will turn out. Previously we saw these young actresses hanging with their real-live counterparts and now we’re seeing them in action. I realize filming *just* started but I really want to see more.

Runaways were the late 70s, not the 80s.

Seriously? “This movie looks good?” From seeing a couple of on the set photos, you determine that it looks like a good movie? People like you are the reason hollywood continues to turn out junk because they know fanobys and the like will go see a movie regardless of if it is actually good enough.

I am so freaking excited about this movie! I love the runaways.

Heh, I thought you meant something TOTALLY different by “roach clip”.

i agree trent – 80s makeup was bad. but it was so bad it was awesome. like breakin’ 2 electric boogaloo.

Wow, Dakota Fanning is all grown up. Weird.
She kind of looks like Amy Poehler, with all the make-up on.

THAT is an old school roach clip, of course the “clip” is out of the frame.

The Runaways were together between 1975 and 1979 … the 80’s rock chick scene was completely different … These girls were the pioneers and went through some bad experiences … as well as crazy good times, I’m sure … I’m more hopeful about the movie after seeing Dakota’s look (I was worried she would be too babyfaced to be Cherie) … I wish Sandy West (drummer) was still here to witness this.

Wow..

Um I heart Dakota but am I the only one who thinks that second pic makes her look like Pumpkin from Flava of Love?
Also I was more excited when I thought Dakota was going to be in a movie about the comic series The Runaways, not the band

This movie looks good? There’s a trailer to watch?

@Waltz08 — they only started filming this week, a trailer is prolly still months away

@Fsuga: wow, who peed in your cornflakes today? There are far more worse things in life to get worked up about than Mr. Gyllenhaal’s movie preferences.
If you’re all worked up to hate something, try ignorance, waste or bigotry. Now THERE’S something to get angry about.

early 80s? The Runaways were around in the mid-70s.
June 25th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
@roscoe — the band was from the 70’s but their look endured thruout the 80’s
