Conan O’Brien finally caught wind that the Internet has been buzzing that the background created for his new set on The Tonight Show bears a striking resemblance to the video game Super Mario Brothers and decided to talk about it on last night’s episode:
While it has been revealed that the set backdrop may not have been taken directly from the video game, I still contend that the similarities between the set design and the Super Mario Brothers video game look way too similar to be a mere coincidence. I think it’s like subliminal messaging. Somewhere, it registered in your mind that it was super mario bros. So watching the new set gave you the warm fuzzies and you didn’t even know why.
@R – uhh, he didn’t deny it. he pretty much just flat out said it was the mario bros. background. “it’s absurd. you could ever see super mario bros. in the set.” the cutting of the eyes when the screen popped up & the music started? the jumping like mario & luigi? can you not sense sarcasm?
Was I the only one slightly bugged by the way Conan kept saying Mario Brothers? Is it a back east thing?
