Jenny, I’m sure that you’re argument will hold up in court. Thank you for schooling me. if you are a performer and you miss your mark I’m sure you will be happy to pay all of your own medical bills, rehabilitation costs etc in the name of your artistic integrity. You will lie in your bed at a 45 degree incline for months, sipping liquified jello from a straw and curse yourself for “not hitting my mark. Maybe I wasn’t meant to perform.”

@Mick: That is not a “catty response” in the least. It’s an honest fact. You either hit your mark or you don’t. He missed and hit the drop instead. It happens. It IS part of being a performer. It’s not the producers’ fault that Bret didn’t remember a drop was coming down.

So with the limited rights that performers in most mediums have now their safety is their responsibility as well? You continue to consume at all costs. Would it have been a better story if the piece would have killed him? The producers should absolutely be sued especially with that catty response they gave. It is their responsibility to protect the talent not the talents personal responsibility. Get a clue bloggie

One of the women on Rock of Love 2 (the winner) fell off the stage when they were acting as roadies. She got right back up and kept on working her ass off; he could take a lesson. Accidents happen. As long as he is OK, move on.

He’s comparing himself to Liza & Elton? Well, I highly doubt EITHER of THEM would have would have made such a mistake… But then again, they’ve worked in & around the theater & would know that curtains/backdrops fall all the time!

Whoever is behind the scenes controlling the ropes that lift & lower the curtains/backdrops etc. have to do it on THEIR MARKS, right? Or is it handled by computers now? That would be funny… A non-human “bonking” this, oh SO irritating, guy on the head.

I was at the rehearsals that morning, and I can tell you for a fact that nothing changed in between what was seen that morning and what was seen on tv that night. Also, Liza & Dolly were there first thing in the morning for rehearsal, and were awesome about it.

As a theatre person, I know that sometimes you can’t see the drop you’re flying in. If the person operating the fly didn’t see him get hit, there was no way he would’ve known to stop the fly. The way it was traveling, by the time a stage manager could’ve gone on headset and said stop the fly, it would already be down. Lesson: Always be aware of your surroundings onstage.
