Barbie & Ken Go ‘Twilight’
Last December the world got its first set of dolls based on the wildly successful movie franchise The Twilight Saga … then earlier this year, Hot Topic got in on the fun and offered their own Twilight action figures (sold separately or in pairs). In anticipation of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, a doll based on the character Jacob Black got thrown into the mix … and now we learn that Barbie, the most famous doll in all creation, is jumping on board the Twilight bandwagon:

And so the lion fell in love with the lamb.Twilight has quickly become a worldwide phenomenon developing a strong core base of dedicated fans who are drawn to the story of a Romeo & Juliet style romance between mortal (Bella) and vampire (Edward). Who better to capture the young star-crossed love of these two characters than Barbie & Ken. Edward is luminescent with a shimmering complexion and trademark gold eyes. Bella doll sold separately.
The product description states that the dolls are safe for play for ages 6 and up … so I’m sure a great many of you should be OK in that regard. Unfortch, the dolls will NOT be available for sale until October of this year but you can place your pre-orders HERE. You know you don’t want to be the last kid on your block NOT to have the Barbie & Ken as Bella & Edward dolls, do you?

ok so i love twilight just as much as any other sane fan would without being a crazed fan but sereously they’ve gone a little far. people think they can make something related just a little with Twilight, slap a ridiculous price tag on it and make millions, and those little pre teens just eat it up! this is like highschool musical all over. if your willing to spend $50 on a barbie that costed them $2 to make, you’ve fallen off the wagon a few too many times.

@ Janelle – Yes, it is stupid but I’m sure kids who are in their early, early teens and kids who aren’t in their teens who are a fan of the movie will buy this crap. At least these dolls don’t look as nearly bad as the other ones.

Can you imagine all the dirty things these damn kids are going to do with these dolls?? How many girls are going to pull the pants down first thing when they get their Edward doll? Not me, of course..That would be..Weird..

who buys dolls about twilight? why do that when you could buy a darth vader or a doctor who?
June 21st, 2009 at 1:41 pm
@Holly – Is there a Dr. Who Barbie? I need one of those!

They should just make sex toys out of their likeness.. you know girls are do nasty things using this doll anyway.. at least make it safe for them.. (oh.. and probably plenty of little boys will be too ..)
I don’t get the Twilight craze… (haven’t/won’t read the books, going by the movie) .. The story is weak, the acting was mediocre, the look of the movie was drab, and the writer takes a great liberty calling it a vampire story.. obviously isn’t a fan of the genere of maybe something would have been right.

Call me old fashioned, but I don’t like the idea of kids playing with vampires.

The dolls are nice, and are not even over-priced. But I think this is pretty stupid if you are over the age of 10.
June 21st, 2009 at 3:20 pm
if you like the dolls why not?? every craze usually gets a doll of some kind. if i was still into dolls & reallllly liked twilight…id get them. and i gotta say..thats a pretty awsome edward doll lol

I think the Edward doll looks a bit like Michael Myers…

I love the book series( I liked the series before it ever got crazy poplular, no one even heard of it when I read the first one), and have been collecting Barbies since I was a kid. I don’t think I’d pay 34.00 for each one, but I’ll keep my eye on them and if they go on sale, I’ll most likely get them to add to my collection :) :)

All the stores in my town over bought Twilight stuff thinking they would just FLY off the shelves. Theres Twilight books coming out the wazoo. 10 bucks, 40% off. Tables of them xD.
Thing is, 12 year old girls don’t have that kinda money.
Now theres going to be 500 Twilight Barbie’s
June 21st, 2009 at 6:46 pm
@neptune – agree. they totally over produced twilight items, and even if the fans wanted to buy everything they couldn’t afford it. but there are still several movies to come out and i’m sure everything will sell.

This is just depressing.

and i thought the twilight madness couldn’t get any worse.
June 22nd, 2009 at 3:24 am
ok i would not buy that i wonder why they even made them in the first place
June 22nd, 2009 at 10:24 am
I’m torn because I absolutely LOVE to collect the different collector’s editions of that Mattel puts out for Barbie, but I’m not so hot about it being Twilight.
June 22nd, 2009 at 10:36 am
tweens who are into twilight are well beyond being interested in dolls….not to mention that they were never into barbie because bratz were their choice when they were into dolls…. maybe it’ll be a collectible.
June 23rd, 2009 at 4:00 pm
i know this is stupid but …… hell i want one of these lolz
