America’s moronic gossip obsessed culture think everyone in the public eye belongs to them. You’re an ashamed closet f-g until you come out in print, the idiots need a public confirmation. THERE WILL NEVER BE EQUALITY AS LONG AS A GAY PERSON HAS TO MAKE AN OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. Then when you do finally address it even ONCE – ONCE – ONE TIME to gain control of your own career, it’s blown up, everyone everywhere goes “duh” and perverted bigots are repulsed & want you back in the closet. The media the public are so sick in the majority. There was never, EVER a reaction like this to any celebs ‘coming out’ in the UK,

I think Adam is someone that you can either like him to bits or hate him till death. But I do like him. He is unique and great voice. I too did not like him at first but when I heard his MAD WORLD song, whoaaa sexy!!! He did better than Gary Jules did… His ring of fire was damn good to me.. I never liked the original song.(No offence to Johnny Cash’s fans) And about the ego thinghy that was mentioned that is called CONFIDENCE.. Check that out in the dictionary!!!

I love Adam. He is as humble as they come. He has confidence, and that is sexy. He is one of the most talented singers I have ever heard. People who hate should be ashamed. I do believe many people do not like him because he is gay. This doesn’t matter to me, nor should it to anyone else. He is a singer and entertainer and that is all we should have an opinion on. He is going to be a international star. Gay or not, the man is sexy!!!

Interesting reactions here – all over the map. Apparently, it’s hard to divorce his persona from his voice and song interpretations. Whether he’s gay or not means little in the long run (Lambert spoke forcefully of his desire for longevity). What Lambert has is the ability to enter into the guts of a song and make you feel it. Obviously, he’s not everyone’s “cup of tea,” but he has enthralled millions all over the world, and that, in itself, is very unusual. What have these millions responded to? I believe that Lambert has created marvelous fantasies (in which he himself has believed) and, for a moment, allowed us to escape the ordinary and enter into something almost dreamlike in its fascination. The man is extremely intelligent as well and this intelllgence allows him to understand what is required to put a song across. He can only get better as he recognizes his power to entrance his audience. A VERY interesting guy.

I doubt that Kris minds–even he thought Adam was going to take it. Besides, Kris is more of a musician; Adam is a spotlight lover. I don’t get the fascination with Adam, though. He screamed through every damn song. I wish him well, but he ain’t my cup of tea.

I don’t look at this as AL coming out. I look at this as him putting the speculation in the press to rest. We have all known he was gay and he has clearly been out for a long time. The press has made an issue of this, not Adam. I think he just wanted to find the appropriate place to do what he could to put it to rest once and for all. He considers himself a rock and roll kind of guy so RS is the logical venue as opposed to People magazine or something cheesy.

I kind of wish people didn’t feel like it was mandatory to come out in a huge-ass story and it was like Freddy Mercury where he didn’t ever publicly announce it. He was a private person and almost never granted interviews, but he didn’t feel like he had to talk about his homosexuality. (Don’t be mistaken, I love it and am happy for the person when they are ready to come out) But I feel America is so bent-over on “OMG, he’s GAY! He needs to have a coverstory on it!” There’s not even a need to publicly come out anymore if it’s obvious. I don’t think i’m making sense in my ramble, I’m sorry…

@Troy – I dont think he was talking about coming out privately to all of his friends and family, since that probably happened a long time ago. That would be more serious and personal.

But as far as an announcement to the media, that’s totally impersonal and all about publicity anyway, so why not go to Rolling Stone for a “cooler” cover story?

I don’t know. I am offended that he says “Right after the finale, I almost started talking about it to the reporters, but I thought, ‘I’m going to wait for Rolling Stone, that will be cooler.” That just really bothers me. When I came out 4yrs ago it was a very hard thing for me and I feel like he is just making lite of the issue. I know I am probably in the minority, but it still kinda hurt.

I love Adam! Maybe it’s just because I like him, but I’m always surprised when people say he seems like he has a big ego. Watching his interview and seeing him on Idol the thing that always struck me was how humble he is. I think he has a lot of confidence in himself and knows he has talent but he always seemed very humble about it and always had nice things to say about the other contestants. Oh, well, I can’t wait for his album to come out! I will mostly definitely buy it on iTunes!
