He is listed as the father on their birth certificates, which means he didn’t need to adopt them – he was legally their father.
And further, he was married to Debbie for the birth of the first two children which means that any children born to her during that time are legally his, unless he went to court to prove otherwise.

This isn’t as dramatic as everyone is trying to make it out.

In the eyes of the court, the children were his and are legally Katherine’s grandchildren.

It really all depends on the law- anyone know the law on these matters in California (surrogacy, intestacy, etc.)? I am not sure if surrogacy law matters for the first two kids since he was actually married to Debbie. But if she was implanted with donor eggs and donor sperm (if that is true), is there any “adoption” type paperwork, or once it is all implanted, is it all yours? (sorry that sounds so blunt). Or would the law of the jurisdiction where the kids were born control? I guess that is still CA for the first two (right?) and somewhere in Europe for the third. Holy conflicts of laws snd other super complicated issues, Batman!

All I hope is that these kids are loved, well taken care of and get to live some sort of a “normal” life. I am not sure they have had a “normal” life up to this point, so anything else is going to be a shock to the system. Some articles have said that they previously had practically no interaction with other children, even their cousins.

There is something that makes me concerned about them being raised by Katherine and Joe, tho-but if it turns out that is what MJ really put in his will (that they be raised by Katherine, but Joe is there, too, no?), hopefully he knew best.

For some reason, no matter what others say, I see him in his children. Maybe it’s just his spirit in them, but when I see photos of them, without masks and whatnot, I see Michael.
Just because they don’t look like stereotypical bi-racial children doesn’t mean that it’s not possible.

@John — It sickens me now that people are turning on Trent for doing his JOB. If you don’t like his reporting that IMHO is the classiest and most well put from all the blogging sites, take your eyes somewhere else. Obviously they are not his, the kids are WHITE! Michael Jackson is suppose to be black he might have white skin but his genes would still be black, meaning dark curly hair for the kids and a darker complexion which they do not have.

If it’s true that the children aren’t his biologically, for reasons such as this (unexpected death) wouldn’t it have been smart of Michael to sign adoption papers regardless if he was on the birth certificate? Or at least have an updated will? There is no saying that the bio dad (i personally don’t believe MJ is the bio dad. it’s being reported that it was MJ’s dermo) won’t go after custody of these kids, just because he is the bio dad. There should’ve been something IRON CLAD, in writing, as to what should happen to the kids if something happens to Michael. I’m not saying there isn’t, but people are scrambling to find a will, and they come up with one from 2002.

Um HOLY SHIT!!! I knew that tons of secrets were bound to come out after Michael’s death but this?! I’m not sure I was prepared for something of this magnitude!! IMHO the kids look bi-racial. Until recently, we’ve never gotten a truely good look at them to really be able to see who they resemble. Also Michael has gone under so many different plastic surgeries over the years it would probably take photos of him as a teen or young adult to really be able to tell if they look like him…this is all such craziness! At the very least I do hope that Katherine Jackson gets to keep the kids at least until this whole mess can be deemed valid and straightened out. They are probably the most comfortable with her and after everything that’s happened, I’m sure that’s what they need right now. I do sincerely hope though, that no matter what happens, those kids are kept well away from Granddaddy Joe Jackson… after all these years he still looks like a leech!

@Nikki…………….yes, Joe Jackson is making public appearences just days after his son unexpectedly dies. He is plugging his company. He made a public statement that he is legally in control of MJ’s estate. His actions are questionable.

Heidi and Seal’s two children together look like bi-racial children to me. I personally have never seen bi-racial children that weren’t immediately identifiable as such, although I do not doubt that they exist. As a kid, MJ had features very easily identifiable as African-American, and his two oldest kids do not in the least, IMHO.

Does this matter? NO. He was their father, he cared for them and raised them and they are his children, no matter if he is the biological father or not. The fact that Debbie might not be the bio mother….wow. What a tangled web we weave… Please, all that is holy, keep those kids from the clutches of Joe Jackson.
