‘90210’ Prepares For Season 2
Here is our first look at the first promo pic from the second season of 90210 premiering on The CW this coming Fall. As you can see, Dustin Milligan (who portrayed Ethan Ward in season 1) has not been included in this new promo pic (we learned last March that he was being axed from the show) and has been replaced with Matt Lanter (who was brought on mid-season as Liam Court). Additionally, TV Guide is reporting that there will be a new young male character brought onto the show in season 2 … a fella known as Teddy:
We were all sad to see the charming Dustin Milligan get the heave-ho from 90210 this spring, but fear not! TVGuide.com has learned exclusively that West Bev is getting a new shot of testosterone in the fall, courtesy a new recurring character. Known as “Teddy” in the character breakdown, the new man in town is a tennis champ who is also the son of a famous movie star. He is described as “returning to West Beverly,” which immediately made me think that he was the man behind the wheel of that bumper-stickered Mercedes that witnessed Annie hit… whatever it is that she hit on her season-finale joyride. Teddy’s charm is described as “Clooney-esque,” which will surely send all the ladies’ hearts a-flutter. That is, until it actually causes the inevitable rift/catfight among Silver, Annie and Naomi, thus teaching our young girls that when looking for a potential suitor, don’t let anything get in your way, least of all your best friends. All other women are evil and should be considered competition.
Awww … it’s sad that Ethan will not be coming back to West Beverly High next season but I must confess that the changes that took place in the tone of the show in the second half of last season made the show much more enjoyable to watch. The series started out too nice and friendly, the added spice helped make the show much more entertaining. I absolutely LOVED the season finale. If losing Ethan means that Liam and Teddy will bring more drama then … I guess I’m all for it. I hope Dustin Milligan gets a role on a new show, tho. It’d be a shame to let him go to waste.

How did they get rid of Ethan? I don’t recall that being mentioned in the finale… did I miss something? I’d think they’d work that into the script in the new season? No?

they also got rid of the grandma character, which was a great move – she was great in arrested development but cheesy in 90210

I love this show! I can say I love all the characters, but my favorite is definitely SILVER, though i wanted her to be with Ethan :( Can’t wait for season 2! This show is way better than gossip girl!!(even though i watch that too lol)

It makes complete sense to get rid of Ethan. I thought he was a weak character that really didn’t have any direction. The first episode has him in the car in front of the school getting a B.J. behind that back of his girlfriend who also goes to that school and then with very little development we are supposed to believe that he is Mr. GoodyTwoShoes when he’s with Annie (another charachter I can’t stand). I just think they went astray with him and toward the end of the season he was so saccharin sweet it actually made my teeth hurt.
Did anyone else think (hope) that the mercedes with the West Bev bumper sticker might have been Dylan. Granted he isn’t likely to have a bumper sticker like that but I was hoping. That was my first thought when I saw it and then Trent reported that he would be coming back. I just thought the classic car thing and all. We’ll have to see I guess.

As much as I liked Ethan, it was pretty much time to get rid of him. Liam has huge potential to stir things up, especially since he went behind Naomi’s back. I think Silver’s about hit the ceiling on the romance front; I think she’ll need to spend next season single, or maybe that’s why Teddy’s coming in. I started out hating Naomi, and by the end, felt for her when her sister was screwing her over. I hate Jen, but I see where she needs to be there. LOVE 90210.

@billie — if you mean it was created using Photoshop, yes it was. many cast photos like this are pieced together from individual photoshoots for each individual.
