Last month we learned that Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester had teamed up with Cobra Starship to duet with the band on their new single Good Girls Go Bad from their upcoming new album Hot Mess. Not only does Leighton sing on the track but, as we saw from behind the scene photos from the vid shoot, she also appears in the music video for the song. David and Victoria Beckham carved time out of their bizzy schedules to make an appearance at Becks‘s mum’s birthday party in the UK over the weekend. As you might expect, Les Beckhams looked amazing all dressed up in their finery … bringing their intense hawtness to mum’s 60th birthday party:

David Beckham may be a busy multi-millionaire, but he still likes to make his mother happy. And with wife Victoria in tow he did just that at the weekend as the couple surprised Sandra Beckham by turning up at her 60th birthday celebration. Posh and Becks and their three sons sneaked in through the kitchens of a restaurant near Chelmsford, in Essex, where Sandra was having dinner with family and friends. “They crept in through the back so they could surprise the birthday girl. There were gasps of delight when they walked in with a lots of hugs and kisses,” a source told the Sunday Mirror. The couple and their three sons Brooklyn, 10, Romeo, 6 and Cruz, 4, sat down to enjoy the £20-a-head meal at the Blue Bridge restaurant in Writtle, on Friday night. David later gave a heart-felt after-dinner speech. “It was just like any other family birthday party. Their children were running around with all the other kids,” the source added. Festivities continued the next day as David drove Brooklyn to a flower shop in Epping so that he could buy a bright-yellow bouquet for his grandmother. On Saturday evening Posh and Becks enjoyed a night with Victoria’s side of the family. David looked dapper in smart dark suit and slicked 1950s hair style, while Posh chose a one-shoulder black dress. They left the kids at home for the more sophisticated soiree at the Ivy Club in London with Posh’s parents and her sister Louise and boyfriend. The party went on from 9pm to 1am in the morning. David and Victoria’s next trip will be a no-expense-spared holiday in the Seychelles on their own. The couple have booked an entire five-star resort for 10 days to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary on July 4.

Awww … now that’s a good son :) I’m sure Mother Beckham really appreciated that her son and his family were in attendance at her 60th … seeing his beautiful face was prolly the best birthday gift of all. Which reminds me, my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks so if Becks would like to ensure that I, too, receive the best birthday gift of all then he is most welcome to come to my party as well. Just throwing that out there. But I digress … I understand that after Les Beckhams are finished celebrating their 10 year anniversary abroad, the entire family will be back in SoCal so Becks can get back to his duties with the LA Galaxy. It will be nice having him back in town, if for only a short while. My birthday is July 12th, Becks. Just wanna throw that out there.

Over the weekend there was some Twitter drama for our dear Britney Spears … someone was able to hack into her official Twitter account and post the following tweet:

Britney has passed today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come.

Which, obvs, was a cruel hoax. Her account was quickly updated with a follow-up tweet that confirmed that Britney was/is alive and well:

Britney’s Twitter was just hacked. The last message is obviously not true. She is fine and dandy spending a quiet day at home relaxing.

But absent that minor drama, the weekend was a pretty good one for Brit Brit. She spent much of the weekend in the company of her agent/beau Jason Trawick … the couple went out for coffee, did some shopping and even underwent a couple’s make-over together. Britney went brunette and Jason went blonder … behold:

Anyone who continues to believe that Britwick are not romantically involved are just kidding themselves … they are soooo together. Janet Jackson, along with her father Joseph Jackson, made an appearance at the BET Awards (which took place at the Shrine Auditorium here in LA last night and was broadcast around the world on BET) to deliver another Jackson family statement to fans. (the first Jackson family statement came over the weekend). Janet was brought out to close the BET Awards which was a bona fide tribute show to the memory of the late Michael Jackson. Here is a photo of Janet at last night’s award show along with some deets of her appearance on the show:

At the close of the ceremony, Janet Jackson spoke publicly for the first time since Thursday about Michael. “My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful,” she told the BET audience, including her father who stood and applauded from his seat. “To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family. He will forever live in all of hearts. Tearing up, she added, “On behalf of my family and myself, thank you for all of your love, thank you for all of your support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much.”

If you were able to watch Janet deliver her statement on the BET Awards last night, you could see how important it was for her to deliver the right message in the right tone with the right sense of reverence. It is widely known that Janet and her big brother Michael were very, very close. It is heartbreakingly sad that she had to speak on the occasion of her brother’s death.
