Folks pay tribute to one of pop culture's most famous sex symbols
Farrah Fawcett, Charlie’s Angel, Remembered

In all the hoopla over Michael Jackson‘s surprise passing, I think it’s important to also remember and acknowledge that brave Farrah Fawcett passed away yesterday as well. Fans have been leaving their tributes to the most famous “Angel” of all at her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well. Additionally, her family and friends have released statements of their own concerning her passing:

“She’s gone. She now belongs to the ages,” Ryan O’Neal tells PEOPLE, also confirming that she received the last rites of the Catholic Church. “She’s now with her mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She’s in a better place now.” Added O’Neal: “She was with her team when she passed … Her eyes were open, but she didn’t say anything. But you could see in her eyes that she recognized us.” Though O’Neal recently said that he and Fawcett had planned to wed, they did not tie the knot. “There just wasn’t time, and Farrah wasn’t in any condition to do it,” says O’Neal. Friends and family plan to honor Fawcett with a funeral service at a Catholic cathedral in Los Angeles in the next few days. Like so much about Fawcett’s life – including her bumpy relationship with O’Neal – her heroic struggle to beat the disease was closely followed by her legion of fans. “I’ve watched her this past year fight with such courage and so valiantly, but with such humor,” Fawcett’s Charlie’s Angels costar Kate Jackson told PEOPLE in November 2007 … Redmond was not there at Fawcett’s side when she died, but spoke to his mother on the phone and told her “how much he loved her and asked her to please forgive him that he was so very, very sorry,” O’Neal tells PEOPLE.

This brave, brave woman fought cancer to the very end … her struggle, unfortch, is being overshadowed by MJ‘s sudden death so I do want to take one more moment to remember and pay tribute to Farrah Fawcett. I watched the 20/20 special on her life on ABC last night and was literally moved to tears by the tribute. I really hadn’t been aware of how hard she fought the cancer that ravaged her body. The woman lived in agony for the past few months but remained resolute that she would fight on until her last breath. I cannot imagine the pain that her family must feel right now. I hope and pray that they find solace that she is no longer suffering and I hope they are able to heal from this sad, sad loss. Farrah Fawcett was an icon — she will be remembered, loved and dearly missed.

Rehearsing Wednesday night, Dead Thursday afternoon
Michael Jackson: What Happened?

As I mentioned earlier, the LA Coroner’s office is conducting the autopsy of Michael Jackson today (according to the morning news, it is underway right now) but there are so many questions as to what caused his sudden death … until the official results of his autopsy are released, speculation is sure to run rampant as to what happened to cause his death. Just Wednesday night, MJ did a semi-full dress rehearsal for his upcoming This Is It Tour which was scheduled to kick off at London’s O2 Arena on July 13 and, by pretty much all accounts, he looked healthy and very happy during rehearsals. TMZ posted a few photos from MJ‘s final rehearsal at the Staples Center just Wednesday night:

We’ve learned Michael Jackson showed no unusual signs of distress — he was rehearsing his upcoming concert at the Staples Center in L.A. But, we’re told, like other nights of rehearsal, Jackson was both hours late and lethargic. We’re told rehearsal went late into the evening. Jackson was singing and dancing with the backup dancers and the band. Someone who was there says Jackson was supposed to show at 7 PM but didn’t arrive until 10 and he was “listless.” But that was normal, according to people at rehearsal.

So, barring any natural cause, what could’ve happened between a night of rehearsal to an incident of cardiac arrest? It turns out that MJ had a personal doctor on hand at his home and it is being alleged that that doctor gave him an injection of Demerol right before he went into cardiac arrest and that may have been the cause of his death. I understand the shot of this strong prescription drug was administered at around 11:30AM yesterday … the 911 call was made at around 12:20PM … he was pronounced dead at 2:26PM PT. MJ‘s doctor, who cannot be found right now, is being sought for questioning:

We’ve learned law enforcement is looking for a doctor who lived at Michael Jackson’s home — and the doctor is nowhere to be found. Law enforcement sources tell us a BMW belonging to the doctor was towed from Jackson’s home last night. Cops are looking to interview the doc. A law enforcement source says the doctor gave Jackson an injection before he died. Jackson reportedly may have OD’d on Demerol. As we first reported, family members were concerned that Jackson was taking too much morphine.

It would make sense that something as strong as Demerol might be the cause of death but until the full toxicology report on Michael Jackson‘s body comes back (those reports take some time to be processed) we prolly won’t know the official cause of death. Brian Oxman, a family lawyer for the Jackson‘s, tells Life & Style magazine that police have seized prescription drugs from MJ‘s home to determine what, if anything, he was taking that might’ve lead to his death:

Investigators have seized bags of prescription drugs from Michael Jackson’s home, family lawyer Brian Oxman has confirmed to Life & Style. Police searched Michael’s rented Beverly Hills home and took away “bags of material,” including vials of prescription drugs. Oxman also said he was prepared to name names of doctors who prescribed drugs to Michael. He told Life & Style, “Police seized bags of material from his house. They were looking for drug vials and syringes. I don’t know if they found syringes, but there would have been a lot of drug vials.” Oxman said he would help the police investigation into Michael’s death, adding, “I did warn him about the drugs, but I am sorry I didn’t warn him enough.” “I am going to wait until I get the toxicology report, and if his death has something to do with drugs, I am prepared to name names of doctors who prescribed them.” He added that the Jackson family was totally devastated by Michael’s death: “They couldn’t even talk to one another in the hospital. It was total silence, and they were just holding one another’s hands.”

To be honest, there has been much speculation on Jackson‘s health in recent months. I, too, heard the rumors of skin cancer, etc. — after all, we saw photos of MJ doing to visit his doctor in Beverly Hills, CA almost every day in the past few months. Whatever the cause of death, IMHO, it came too soon ;( The duty of delivering the Jackson family’s official statement on Michael‘s death fell to his older brother Jermaine Jackson. If you are so inclined, you can watch video of Jermaine delivering his official statement at the UCLA Medical Center moments after his brother’s passing …

Folks pay tribute to the late 80's pop icon
Michael Jackson, The King Of Pop, Remembered

Many, many folks are still dealing with the shock over the surprising death of Michael Jackson who first went into cardiac arrest yesterday afternoon and then was pronounced dead just about 2 hours afterward. Because MJ was prepping for an upcoming string of 50 concert dates in the UK (the first date was to be just under a month away) and was seen looking happy and healthy at rehearsals the night before, no one was any the wiser that his life would end so quickly, so suddenly. Here are a few photos of Michael Jackson‘s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame which, at first was covered over by a red carpet premiere on Hollywood Blvd. yesterday but, was unveiled for public viewing late last night so that mourners could be allowed to pay their tributes:

Of course the people who were nearest and dearest to Michael Jackson have also been paying homage to the fallen pop star. His sister Janet Jackson, the youngest member of the Jackson family, released an official statement thru her manager about the passing of her big brother Michael:

“Janet Jackson is grief stricken and devastated at the sudden loss of her brother. She is in pre-production for a movie and is flying immediately to California to be with her family.”

Quincy Jones, the famed producer who worked with Michael Jackson on some of his biggest hits, referred to MJ as his “little brother” lost in his statement on his death:

“I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don’t have the words. Divinity brought our souls together on The Wiz and allowed us to do what we were able to throughout the 80′s. To this day, the music we created together on “Off The Wall,” “Thriller” and “Bad” is played in every corner of the world and the reason for that is because he had it all…talent, grace, professionalism and dedication. He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I’ve lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him.”

MJ‘s best friend Elizabeth Taylor, who suffers from ailments of her own, released a statement on Twitter that she is “too devastated” to comment on her friend’s passing:

“Dame Elizabeth Taylor is too devastated by the passing of her dear friend Michael Jackson to issue a statement at this time.”

Britney Spears, too, left her condolences for Michael Jackson in an official statement of her own:

“I was so excited to see his show in London. We were going to be on tour in Europe at the same time and I was going to fly in to see him. He has been an inspiration throughout my entire life and I’m devastated he’s gone!”

Justin Timberlake, who has cited Michael Jackson as an influence on his career, released his own statement on the death of MJ:

I can’t find the words right now to express how deeply sadden [sic] I am by Michael’s passing. We have lost a genius and a true ambassador of not only Pop music, but of all music. He has been an inspiration to multiple generations and I will always cherish the moments I shared with him on stage and all of the things I learned about music from him and the time we spent together. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

Even Madonna, who can be called the Queen of Pop if you will, is said to be inconsolable over the death of her musical counterpart from the 80′s:

“I can’t stop crying over the sad news. I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless.” – Madonna

Guy Oseary, Madonna‘s manager, reveals on his Twitter account that Maddy was planning to do a surprise performance with MJ during one of his O2 Arena concerts:

The moment that never happened: A month ago Madonna told me she wanted to do a surprise performance at one of michael Jackson’s uk shows..

I’m sure the tributes will be rolling in for some time now … I imagine many of you are still processing the loss of Michael Jackson. There is sure to be much discussion on Jackson‘s sudden passing — especially considering that his autopsy is scheduled to take place here in SoCal today. The results of his autopsy may take weeks to be released but I suspect we’ll hear the results sooner rather than later. I, for one, spent much of yesterday evening listening to my favorite old skool Michael Jackson songs and watched specials devoted to Michael Jackson last night. How are y’all coping?
