David Archuleta's daddy busted for patronizing a prostitute
Jeff Archuleta Busted!

You gotta love American Idol because it is the competitive singing program that keeps on giving. It turns out that David Archuleta, last year’s AI runner-up (the Adam Lambert of 2008, if you will), has got a father who was arrested for patronizing a prostitute in Utah earlier this year … and we are only just now finding out all the gory details. Apparently, Archuleta went to a massage parlor and allegedly requested a special service from his masseuse … the cops raided the parlor and daddy dear was busted in the act. Um, EW!

David Archuleta’s dad made plenty of headlines when his son was chasing the “American Idol” crown last year, mostly for what some described as his stage-dad tendencies. Now, Jeff Archuleta is in the news again, only it has nothing to do with his son’s career. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Archuleta, 47, pleaded no contest in January to patronizing a prostitute and paid a $582 fine after a January 14 bust at the Queens of Reiki massage parlor in Midvale, Utah. Sgt. John Salazar told the paper that police had been investigating the business for several days after patients at a nearby doctor’s office complained that the masseuses at the parlor were arriving at the building in skimpy outfits. After the raid, the parlor was cited for operating without a license and Archuleta was given a citation for solicitation of prostitution. “Two of our detectives went back to that room to stop the activity,” Salazar said. “Inside, they found a female masseuse and male client. At that time an interview ensued and the male client admitted to receiving sexual gratification from the masseuse.” The client was Archuleta and the unnamed masseuse who allegedly gratified him was also cited. Court records indicate that Archuleta took a no contest plea on January 30 to the class B misdemeanor of patronizing a prostitute and paid the fine, agreeing to complete a counseling class. The case will be dismissed when he appears in court on June 30 for a review as long as he does not repeat the crime. Speaking to ABC4 News, Jeff Archuleta’s lawyer, Eric Bauer, confirmed that his client had been a customer at the parlor when police raided it, but said he went there to receive legitimate therapy for his back. Bauer said his client did not participate in any sexual activity but was advised to plea no contest to avoid negative publicity for David Archuleta, who was then embarking on a tour in support of his recently released debut album.

Aww … what a caring and loving father. How swell of Daddy Archuleta to NOT plead innocent to a crime that he claims he did not do and instead chose to plead no contest just to avoid creating negative publicity for his son. That is love, folks. Um … yeah, I’m sorry but I’m calling BULLSHIZZ. You just know that Archuleta was praying for the case to be dismissed at the end of this month without anyone becoming wise to his bust … but, alas, twas not so. I’m trying my darndest to not imagine Jeff Archuleta getting serviced at this massage parlor but I’m not being all that successful. I’m gonna go bash my head against concrete until I can wipe those thoughts from my poor mind :( If you’ll excuse me.

"The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child"
Cher Pledges Her Support For Chaz Bono’s Gender Reassignment

A week ago today, TMZ broke the news that Cher‘s daughter Chastity Sun Bono is in the process of undergoing gender reassignment in order to become a man (now named Chaz Sun Bono). The report was substantiated by a statement from Bono‘s publicist:

“Yes, it’s true — Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity. He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz’s hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his ‘coming out’ did nearly 20 years ago. We ask that the media respect Chaz’s privacy during this long process as he will not be doing any interviews at this time.”

I have been reticent in passing along every single bit of info about Chaz‘s gender reassignment that has come out since this news broke because a personal issue like gender reassignment should not be taken advantage of. But, there is one development that I think is very important to highlight therefore I’ve decided to share it with all y’all. Cher, Chaz‘s mother, has issued a statement in support of her child’s desire for gender reassignment and I feel it is very important to share. Here are a couple pics of Chaz with girlfriend Jennifer Elia out together earlier this week and the full text of Cher‘s statement of support:

“Chaz is embarking on a difficult journey, but one that I will support. I respect the courage it takes to go through this transition in the glare of public scrutiny, and although I may not understand, I will strive to be understanding … The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child.”

Kudos to Cher for making such a public declaration of love and support for Chaz as he transitions into a man. While I cannot, for the life of me, fully understand the magnitude of such a life changing event, I know that the love and support of one’s family can go a long way in helping ease the stress and trauma of something as epic as gender reassignment. I understand that Chaz began his gender reassignment last June (2008) and has already been thru the psychological counseling required of gender reassignment patients. Chaz still has much to go thru to complete the process, including extensive surgery (including a double mastectomy). I wish nothing but success, love and happiness for Chaz Bono. Again, while I cannot fully understand I can absolutely respect and support his decision to transition.

The artist currently known as 'Ricky Hollywood'
Levi Johnston Seeks Fame & Fortune In Hollywood

Um … HAHAHAHAHAHA … OK … let me try and compose myself for a moment here … ahem … So, it turns out that Levi Johnston, the guy famous for pissing off Alaska Governor Sarah Palin after he knocked up her 17 year old daughter Bristol Palin right around the time that Palin was running for Vice President of the United States last year, is trying to make a name for himself in Hollywood as an aspiring “model and actor”. Except, the name that Levi is trying to make famous is not his own … on the advice of a man named Tank Jones (an Anchorage private investigator and press rep) Levi will now be known as Ricky Hollywood. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sorry, I’m having a difficult time restraining myself from the ridiculous hilarity of this “news”. Levi, er I mean, Ricky Hollywood‘s arrival in Hollywood was photographed by The Daily Beast and People magazine has all the deets on his quest for fame:

Levi Johnston is now officially an aspiring actor and model. And according to his new manager Tank Jones, he is getting closer to a clinching a deal that will help him support the baby son he fathered with his former girlfriend, Bristol Palin. “There’s offers on the table for a little bit of everything – sitcom appearances, a reality show, some modeling,” Jones tells PEOPLE. “We haven’t signed anything, but there’s offers.” Jones declined to give specific details. Johnston’s interest in a show business represents one of the few viable careers open to him, Jones adds. A high-school dropout passionate about hunting and hockey, Johnston, 19, “is going to go and take the test and finish school and enroll in some college courses,” his manager says. “[But] it’s not like he can go and get a normal job now. Because of all the publicity. The whole interviewing thing, and red carpet and paparazzi – he still hasn’t gotten comfortable with it, but what else does he have? Can he go work at McDonald’s? … He wants to take care of his son financially.” Jones, an Anchorage private investigator and press rep, is counseling his oft-rumpled young charge to think about a more glamorous look and has urged him to assume a playful new identity – a.k.a “Ricky Hollywood” – when it comes to style and attitude. “We came up with an alter ego,” explains Jones. “As in, ‘Ricky Hollywood would iron his shirt.’ ” Last week, Jones accompanied Johnston – who has appeared on the Larry King and Tyra Banks shows and in GQ – on a trip to Los Angeles, where he was a special guest at the launch party of actress Jennifer Murphy’s GoGirlWorldwide.com, which describes its mission as the empowerment of women. “I thought this was a great opportunity for him to show that he supports women and the empowerment of women,” Murphy says. “I could tell he was a little overwhelmed. He made a comment about how there were beautiful girls everywhere he looked and said, ‘It isn’t like this in Alaska!’” It was at Murphy’s party that Johnston and Jones hit it off with Renata Espinosa, a columnist for The Daily Beast Web site who invited them on a June 12 shopping excursion through downtown L.A.’s wholesale fashion district. Trying on yellow sequined jackets and pink fedoras, Johnston told Espinosa, “My boys are gonna be so mad at me when they see me in this stuff. My dad is going to make fun of me.” Espinosa, a fashion writer, tells PEOPLE, “Obviously he’s a kid who just wants to wear flannel and Carrhart work shirts. He was just a very casual, shy kid who’s saying to himself, I’m getting this attention, so how do I use it to help support my family?” Jones tells PEOPLE that Johnston and his former fiancée, Bristol Palin, 18, have put their formerly bitter child support and visitation disputes behind them and are harmoniously working together to parent their 6-month-old son, Tripp. “All that stuff has been worked out,” says Jones. “Levi goes and picks Tripp up and takes him places. All of that.” As for his relationship with Bristol, “They talk about the kid. As parents. There’s no ‘relationship’ relationship.” Johnston told The Daily Beast that Bristol’s feelings – and those of her younger sister, Willow, 14 – were his biggest concern in the recent dust up between Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and David Letterman over his off-color jokes about the Palin family. “I don’t think he was trying to be malicious. I just think the joke maybe went too far,” Johnston said. But, he added, “I don’t like to see anybody hurt, especially if it got to the girls and their feelings were hurt.”

This is just … ridic. While I was marginally charmed by Johnston‘s appearance in GQ magazine last month, I’m wholly grossed out by this ploy to make Ricky Hollywood a star. It sounds like the plot of a bad TV movie. That being said, if we’ve learned anything about the new crop of celebs that exist these days it’s that anyone can be a “star” if they put themselves out there enough. If Ricky Hollywood really wants to make a name for himself, he should dump this Tank Jones guy and hire someone like … Spencer Pratt. If anyone can make this kid a “celeb”, it would be someone like Pratt. UGH … the mere thought of that just sickens me, tho. Levi should just go back home to Alaska, finish his education, get a job and take care of his son that way. If any of y’all are interested, you can read about Levi’s adventures with The Daily Beast HERE.

Brown will be in court on Monday as scheduled
The California Supreme Court Refuses To Delay Chris Brown’s Court Hearing

Yesterday we learned that Chris Brown‘s attorney, Mark Geragos, filed an appeal with the California Supreme Court (the highest court in the State) to ask that Brown‘s court hearing on Monday June 22 be delayed so that Garagos could have more time to prepare. A similar request was asked of a lower California court but it was already denied. On Wednesday, the California Supreme Court also denied Geragos‘s request for a delay … meaning that Chris Brown and all interested parties (including the alleged assault victim, Rihanna, who has been subpoenaed to appear at the hearing) will be in court on Monday to begin the proceedings of his criminal trial:

The California Supreme Court on Wednesday denied a request to delay an upcoming hearing in the case of R&B singer Chris Brown, who is accused of assaulting his former girlfriend, pop star Rihanna. Brown’s Los Angeles-based attorney Mark Geragos sought to delay a hearing set for Monday, but that hearing will now go on as scheduled with Brown, whose hit records include “Kiss Kiss” and “Run It,” expected to appear, according to court records. At the hearing, evidence is expected to be presented against Brown, who is accused of having assaulted and made criminal threats to “Umbrella” singer Rihanna in February following a Los Angeles party on the eve of the music industry’s Grammy awards. Geragos was seeking information about a police probe into a photo of Rihanna, looking bruised and bloody, that was taken by Los Angeles detectives after the alleged assault and later leaked to the media. A lower court judge had denied Geragos’ request saying it was too soon to seek information about the leak, and the state Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld that ruling, according to a posting of the decision on the court’s website. Brown has pleaded not guilty in the case. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted. An attorney for Rihanna, has said that if requested she will testify against her former boyfriend at Monday’s hearing.

And that, my friends, is that. Barring any outrageous incidents between now and Monday, Chris Brown will be hauled into court to begin facing the music for his alleged assault of Rihanna. It should be clarified that none of Geragos‘s legal wrangling is any proof of Brown‘s guilt but it does make it seem as if they would do anything to keep from having the trial get underway. I suppose one might imagine that a totally innocent person would welcome the chance to prove their innocence in a court of law … but, for whatever reason, Brown‘s legal team thinks it is best to delay, delay, delay. Again, anything could happen before Monday to cause a hearing delay (illness, alien invasion, Armageddon) but … my guess is that the hearing will go on as scheduled … much to Chris Brown‘s chagrin.
