Justin Gaston Shows Off An Old Tattoo

Gettin' over Miley
Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Justin Gaston, newly single from Miley Cyrus, has been posting tweet messages on his official Twitter profile about a new tattoo that he just got added to his body … but he is choosing not to show off the new ink and instead is showing off some old ink. Justin posted a photo of a flower tattoo that he had previously inked on his inner bicep:

He tweets: Just got my new tattoo but I’m keeping it a secret.. Got this old one retouched so I’ll share the old one for now

It appears that the old tattoo was “retouched” by filling in the center of the flower with black ink. But, if you look closely, you can see that there were initials inside the flower that Justin chose to cover up with the new ink (I’ve colored in the initials in the second close-up photo to highlight them):

Yes, folks … Justin Gaston used to have the initials MC tattooed on his arm. I guess in the wake of his break-up with Miley, Justin thought it best to “retouch” his tattoo. Apparently his new, private, tattoo is on his wrist … I can’t wait to see what he got done.

Queen Elizabeth II Celebrates Her 83rd Birthday

Trooping the Colour
Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, celebrated her official birthday in the UK yesterday and, as is custom, partook of the pageantry known as Trooping the Colour with her Royal family … including her husband Prince Philip and her grandsons Princes William and Harry. Here are a few pics from yesterday’s festivities and some deets of what went down:

Pomp and pageantry was on full show Saturday as Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her official birthday with the traditional Trooping the Colour parade in London. Wearing a blue coat and matching hat, Queen Elizabeth, 83, took the salute during the military spectacle, as senior royals and thousands of well-wishers looked on. Later, the royal family watched from the balcony of Buckingham Palace as 29 aircraft, from vintage planes to modern fighters, took part in the traditional flypast, with the Red Arrows air acrobatics jets trailing red, white and blue smoke. Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip travelled to the Horse Guards parade ground in Queen Victoria’s 1842 ivory-mounted phaeton carriage. Her eldest children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne, followed on horseback. Charles’s wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, plus his sons Princes William and Harry — who both wore military uniform — watched from a building that was once military hero the Duke of Wellington’s office. The queen has taken the salute every year bar one since her accession to the throne in 1952. The Colour being paraded on Horse Guards this year was the flag of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards. The pomp and ceremony of Trooping the Colour — a hangover from preparations for battle when colours or flags were “trooped” down the rank so soldiers could recognise them — marks the queen’s official birthday. Her actual birthday is on April 21 but historically the monarch has another in the summer months, because the weather is supposed to be better for open-air celebrations.

Birthday lurve goes out to Her Majesty this weekend as she officially celebrates her 83rd. It’s so good to see her lookin’ so spry and lively. Queen Elizabeth II looks like she’s got the fortitude to reign for a very long time to come. As an American, I find it very neat and interesting to see the regalness of Royal celebrations like this. We, too, have our pomp and circumstance here in the US but there seems to be something special about Royal ceremonies. So nice to see the Royals all celebrating together.

A ‘Proposal’ You Cannot Refuse

The TV Guide
Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Last night David and I made our way into the Valley for a dinner/movie date together. We ended up grabbing some grub at the Sherman Oaks Galleria before seeing a sneak preview showing of The Proposal at the ArcLight:

I am very happy to report that The Proposal is a really funny movie. The writing is pretty funny but the on-screen chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds is what really makes the movie work. It’s a little chick-flicky but really very funny. I loved every single scene that Betty White was in … the movie has it all. If you see this movie for no other reason … go see it for Ryan Reynold’s bare ass scene. Yes, Sandra looks amazing all nekkid as well but — I gotta say — Ryan is the draw for me :) The movie opens in theaters next weekend … grab some friends and see it. I’m pretty sure you’ll love it!!

After the movie, David and I grabbed some dessert and coffee at my fave SoCal cafe Aroma Cafe in Studio City before we made our way back home:

It was a nice, quiet date :)

Today, we’re hoping to meet up with Jordan for late brunch and then are meeting up with Tamar and Rob for another movie. The sun looks like it wants to come out … but notsomuch just yet. Hope your Sunday is a great one!!

Nine Inch Nails ‘Wave Goodbye’ To The US, 06.13.09

2 hour appearance at Bonnaroo Festival is last US show ... ever?
Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Nine Inch Nails played a 2 hour set at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN last night which, it turns out, was the last US show of the band’s 2009 Wave Goodbye Tour. The previous tourdates with Jane’s Addiction were titled the NIN/JA Tour 2009 but from here on out the tour is called Wave Goodbye. The band will be taking a few days off before they head off to Europe and the rest of the world for the rest of the tour … but last night’s show in Tennessee was the band’s last show on US soil for a long time (if not for all time). Here are a few photos (taken and posted to NIN.com by Rob Sheridan) from last night’s performance along with the show’s full setlist:

Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, 061309

HOLY MFG! This has to be one of NIN’s best setlists ever. Those hippies at Bonnaroo were pretty damn lucky to witness an epic show like this. I truly hope that those of you who are NIN fans here in the US got your chance to see them perform live on this tour. It very well may be the last tour the band ever does. My gut tells me that Trent Reznor isn’t finished with music forever and there may be another NIN tour sometime in the future but … you just never know. The rest of the world still has many NIN tourdates to look forward to. The band plays Austria on June 19 and they begin touring Europe after that. At this point, the final NIN concert will take place on August 12 in Taipei, Taiwan … but as for the US … NIN has already waved goodbye.

Dustin Lace Black Honored In SoCal For Mentoring Gay Youth

Soldiering On
Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Despite the fact that explicit NSFW images and screencaps from a sex tape have made their way to the Internets earlier this week, Dustin Lance Black is not letting the drama bring him down or curb his work. DLB was on hand at the Sunset Gower Studios here in Hollywood, CA yesterday to be honored by Lifeworks for his volunteer efforts with mentoring gay youth. Here are a couple pics of Black at yesterday’s event:

Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black was honored at the Life Out Loud 4 event for his work in support of gay rights at Hollywood’s Sunset Gower Studios on Saturday (June 13). The event benefited gay youth-mentoring group Lifeworks . Earlier this week, three-year-old photos of Dustin , 35, surfaced of himself engaged in what appears to be risky sex with another man. “It is unfortunate that individuals and other outside parties are trying to profit from material which is clearly private,” Dustin said in the statement released to E! . “I have had the privilege to speak to people across the country, both gay and straight, on a number of critical issues including safe sex. More important than the embarrassment of this incident is the misleading message these images send. I apologize and cannot emphasize enough the importance of responsible sexual practices.”

It is plainly evident that Dustin Lance Black is not letting the sex tape scandal impede his present course of action. In light of the leak of the photos, what else is there to be done? He has addressed the matter and has clearly moved on. In the wake of a terribly embarrassing incident like this, DLB is handling the who matter perfectly.
