Uh oh, here comes the Hammer
MC Hammer Is Back With A New Series Called ‘Hammertime’

Earlier this year we learned that MC Hammer, of U Can’t Touch This Fame, was making a comeback by starring in a new reality TV series called Hammertime that focuses on his family life. After a few months of filming, the series is about ready to debut on A&E … so let’s get acquainted with the Hammer‘s, shall we?

Hammertime is a reality series that focuses on the Hammer family as they live their not-so-simple lives in Tracy, California. Having a family and re-launching the Hammer empire is not an easy task, but with wisdom, faith and a relentless tenacity to strive through any adversity, this family is stronger than ever. Hammer and his wife Stephanie have been married for 24 years and together they are raising six children. For the Hammers, every day is a challenge. While spending the last seventeen years readjusting to his middle class lifestyle, Hammer never lost his thirst and desire to regain superstar status, and is now poised to bring his family along with him for the ride.

Because the show is on A&E, I suspect Hammertime will have the same feel that Gene Simmons Family Jewels will have … and by that I mean, it won’t be trashy nor will it pander to the lowest common denominator (like, say, The Osbournes). I am a big fan of the Simmons family show because the kids seems somewhat respectful and aren’t rewarded for displaying reckless behavior. I’m hoping that MC Hammer and his 6 children will be just as classy. Hammer is a man of God, I suspect he’ll not stoop to the usual low levels of Reality TV trashiness (like say, Being Bobby Brown). After the jump, check out the trailer for Hammertime which debuts on A&E on Sunday June 14 …

The high price of fame
Kristin Cavallari Is Being Paid Handsomely To Star On ‘The Hills’

After filming her first scenes as the new star of MTV‘s reality TV series The Hills last week, Kristin Cavallari continued her work on the show this week as she was seen filming more new scenes for the upcoming season of the show. According to reports, Kristin is being paid upwards of $63,000 per episode to be on the show (only $2,000 less per ep than former star Lauren LC Conrad was being paid … a salary she earned after being on the show for years). Right out of the starting gate (if this report is to be believed), KC is making more money than everyone else on the show next season. Not too shabby for a job that requires her to sit around listening to inane conversation from folks like Stacie the Bartender or requires nights out on the town with other castmember’s ex-boyfriends like Audrina Patridge‘s ex Justin Bobby:

If anyone’s in the market for a new gig, allow us to suggest a career as a reality TV villain. The hours are lousy, but we’ve got a feeling you’re going to enjoy the perks…. In case you were wondering what brought Laguna Beach baddie Kristin Cavallari back to MTV, feast your eyes on this: Life & Style Weekly is reporting that the blonde wannabe actress will earn an astounding $63,000 per episode after signing on to replace archrival Lauren Conrad as the new protagonist on Season 6 of MTV’s The Hills. That’s almost unheard of in the land of unscripted television — and just $2,000 less than $65,000 per episode payday that the network was shelling out for LC. “They needed her,” a production insider says, explaining why Kristin will earn over $1 million for her work this season, solidifying her spot as the highest-paid castmember on The Hills. “They needed someone new and fresh, who also came with a buzz and a name that was recognizable. Kristin was the obvious choice.” According to the source, Kristin used MTV’s desperation to replace Lauren to her advantage during contract negotiations. “She wanted money. You don’t have to pay the other girls that kind of money, but for Kristin you had to pay up.” At least one member of the cast believes the tongue-lashing Kristin’s tenure on The Hills will be worth every penny. “She’s so fun and crazy,” says series star Holly Montag. “Kristin’s not afraid to put anything on camera. She’s not going to hold anything back.”

In my estimation, Kristin Cavallari is worth every penny. It’s very true, The Hills would’ve been dunzo if she hadn’t agreed to join the show in LC‘s place … they did need KC if they really wanted to bring back the show for another season. Last August, In Touch Weekly reported the rumored salaries of the castmembers of The Hills and claimed that LC was making $75,000 per episode. It was later clarified that the salaries they reported were slightly inflated (so I suppose the claim that LC was really making $65,000 is very plausible). Whatever the actual salaries may be, there is no denying the fact that MTV had to pay a pretty penny to get Kristin Cavallari to join the show. I have NO DOUBT that Kristin is gonna bring the delicious entertainment (ie. much needed bitchiness) to the show. Altho she’s been away from the MTV cameras for quite some time, she seems to have slipped back into the swing of things very easily. Lauren Lo Bosworth posted a photo on her official Twitter profile last night with Kristin and Stephanie Pratt partying at a club:

Irregardless of the drama we will see on the show, it looks like The Hills ladies are laughing together all the way to the bank.

Meet Max Armstrong, y'all
Lance Armstrong Welcomes, Shows Off His Justborn Son

Lance Armstrong became the proud papa of a new son (his 1st with girlfriend Anna Hansen, his 4th overall) yesterday and announced on his official Twitter profile when the little guy was born. Lance posted a photo of his son, Max Armstrong, within moments after the child was born from his mother’s loins. Here is the photo that Lance posted and the full tweet message that accompanied the photo … along with the report from People magazine:

From Twitter: Wassup, world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is healthy and so am I!

From People: Time to get a child seat for that racing bike. Lance Armstrong and girlfriend Anna Hansen welcomed a 7 lb., 5 oz, 20-inch-long baby boy named Max, the pro cyclist announced on his Twitter page Thursday night – or, rather, the little guy announced it himself. “Wassup, world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My Mommy is healthy and so am I!” says the post, which includes a photo of the baby in a cap and sticking his tongue out. In another post, Armstrong includes a photo of the nurse and doctor who helped deliver Max. “They were amazing!!” writes Armstrong. The seven-time Tour de France winner and cancer survivor, who is making a comeback to pro cycling, announced last December that he and Hansen were expecting their first child together. He has three children with ex-wife Kristin. The children were conceived through in vitro fertilization with sperm frozen prior to Armstrong undergoing chemotherapy for testicular cancer.

What a cute little dude … and Wow! what a way to share the news of your child’s birth — with the entire Internet mere moments after the kid popped out of the uterus … I mean, you can see the poor woman crashed out on her hospital bed in the pic of the baby — I bet the poor dear was wrecked! Ain’t technology grand? Congratulations are in order for Lance and Anna on the joyous birth of their newborn son Max. May they live a life full of love and happiness!! Congrats!!

“I’m really sick of getting branded with a bad reputation for hanging out with her”
Paris Hilton’s ‘My Old BFF’ – Is Pissed!

Now that the second season of Paris Hilton’s My New BFF has gotten underway on MTV, why don’t we check in with the winner and supposed former “new BFF” from the previous season of the show to hear what she thinks about Paris‘s need to find a newer BFF. Brittany Flickinger battled her way thru the first season of the competitive reality TV show to become Paris Hilton‘s supposed New BFF … a feat that she seems to regret now (especially in light of the fact that she was discarded like an old shoe earlier this year by her “friend” Paris) considering her comments in THIS new interview:

While Paris Hilton was launching Season 2 of her MTV reality series, My New BFF, on June 2, the Season 1 winner was busy bashing the hotel heiress here on BlogTalkRadio. “I’m really sick of getting branded with a bad reputation for hanging out with her and sticking up for such a disgusting, self-centered user. I’m a good person… I have morals. I don’t have to do anything disgusting or rash to get famous,” she told Dr. Blogstein’s Radio Happy Hour. The bad blood between the duo, said Brittany, began when the series wrapped in December. “She’d tell me things that made me think I was her best friend. And we got really close. And I’m like, Oh, man, this is really nice,” she said of Paris. “Then all of a sudden it was like, ‘Casting for BFF 2! Better end this now. Bye. I don’t need you anymore.’ That’s disgusting to do to somebody… That’s defamation of character.” But Brittany didn’t stop there. Recounting her early days on the show with Paris, she said, “It was around the time she broke up with Benji [Madden], so she was feeling lonely. And she would say things to me that led me to believe that she really did think we were best friends. “So I was like, ‘Oh, shit. This girl must be a little fucked up.’” Brittany’s position on Paris marks a stark departure from how she portrayed their relationship in January, when she said they were, if not Siamese twins, still quite sisterly. “We’re not married. We’re BFFs,” she said in a January interview. “Friends aren’t attached at the hip 24/7. And when we’re somewhere together and we’re not attached at the hip, they’re like, ‘Oh, no. They’re fighting!’” The spurned reality contestant also accused Paris this week of censoring her in cyberspace: “Any time I say anything about her to defend myself – after all the interviews she has done lying about me and making all this stupid stuff up – everything that I say is taken off the Internet.”

Aww … poor Brittany. On the one hand, I suppose all of this ridiculousness is partly her fault for believing that you could actually win a famous friend by going on Reality TV … but she’s young, so I guess her naivety can be her excuse. But, it does seem pretty obvious that the young people cast to appear and compete on Paris Hilton‘s TV show are mislead to believe that they are actually competing for her affections when, in fact, they are merely being used for entertainment on the show. It sucks but it’s what they’ve signed up for. Perhaps Flickinger (and others who compete to become Paris Hilton‘s New BFF) should look to other, more successful ways of finding new friends … like My Space or Facebook? Poor dears. Ah well … you do get what you pay for.
